Update system-model and serial number in the BIOS on T61

Hello

We just changed the motherboard on a T61. After Windows XP starts, we would like to launch ThinkVantage SystemUpdate

little, it cannot identify the T61 properly because the system Type is not correct in the BIOS.

In the past, we were able to update it for example on the server X-Series starting with a BIOS update diskette

and typing the correct values.

How do I change them on a T61?

Thanks in advance

Welcome them

You will need the maintenance disk. It is only available to our technicians on the ground, technicians deposit and trading partners IBM/Lenvo. We are NOT allowed to discuss this for security reasons. Hope you understand.

If you are a business partner, you are more than welcome to go to the website of Lenovo business partners or contact them by phone for help with this question.

    Hello

    Here are a few options.

    1. hold down fn and Press esc - this should display model No. / Nr but will work only if the HP System event utility is always installed.

2 close the laptop by holding down the button SHIFT left click Shutdown to temporarily prevent a hybrid boot. Tap away at the esc you key start Notepad to open the Start Menu.  Select the Menu of the Bios ( f10 ).  Both the model and Nr number must appear on the first tab.

  • need to update the serial number after the system?

    Hello

I need an upgrade of Maverick to El Capitan. It is (also if a all new installation may be necessary), what I have to enter my serial number for adobe software yet? I bought online in 2012 and he downloaded. I have now on the back upward, but I am afraid of the possibility that I would not be able to use illustrator, photoshop, and indesign, if you enter your serial number for the second time.

    Thank you

    Kaylen

The best way to approach it is to disable the software (open any program in the suite and choose Help-> Deactivate) so that when your new system is installed you can reinstall if you wish, without tying up activation (you have two available at any time except when they are in use).  If you do not have to reinstall so you can just reactivate.

    Enable and disable Adobe products

  • Update the series/model number in the BIOS (ThinkPad 2nd Gen Helix)

Hello! I have a ThinkPad 2nd Gen Helix (model 20CG000QUS), I replaced the motherboard in (because I'm with a Lenovo authorized service depot), but I'm unable to update the series/model number in the BIOS. I tried the utilties USB and bootable diskette and nor will not work (I can't boot from either one sense). This is despite me turning off the Secure Boot option in the BIOS. When I enter my credentials for the key to maintenance/diskette, I find the download ok in, but on the page for the supported systems for this key maintenance/diskette, the Helix model I have is NOT LISTED. I tried to update using other utilities and I get the words of INVA LID, and I can only replace the "LID". So, basically, I'm stuck.

    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

  • New ThinkPad T460p just arrived - the product name and serial number missing from the outside of the machine

This page shows where the product name and serial number should supposed to be on my ThinkPad: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/find-product-name?cid=EDM_2016_NA_US_PP_SUPPORT_V2&RRID=1014681098&...

However, any of these are displayed on the outside of my machine anywhere.

I happen to know the product name and serial number. I was able to find other ways - that is not the issue. As far as I know, these physical labels should have with the machine.

Was it simply a mistake during Assembly, or Lenovo just stopped putting on these labels? If the first case, is there a way to ask Lenovo send me these labels? If the latter, Lenovo might consider updating the page linked above.

Any inisight would be duly appreciated.

    Nicholas

My T460p shows the T460p at the bottom right of the screen and the serial number and the code of the product under the battery. But the T460 is very dark on the corner of the screen, and Seraglio/product numbers appear on the very dark black label under the battery.

    Hello:

HP does not keep records like that.

Order a set of recovery discs, and you should not need the product key.

The model # and the serial number of the laptop handy to give to the customer services rep.

  • The serial number on the bottom of my laptop has been rubbed off. I can find it somewhere in the system?

    Original title: my serial number

The serial number on the bottom of my laptop has been rubbed off.  I can find it somewhere in the system?

    Hello

If the operating system is preinstalled, as it appears as the product key sticker was on the bottom of the laptop, NO, you will not find a product key that you can use for any purpose useful in your system.

The only product key you would find in your system is the manufacturer factory Installation product key that is used for multiple facilities only during the original production.

If you want to reinstall the operating system, contact the manufacturer and ask him either send you recovery disks to reinstall the operating system, what they should do for a small cost and also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your laptop to do the same thing, which is to reinstall the operating system.

None of these methods relocation normally requires that you insert a product key when reinstalling.

    See you soon.

p.s., serial number (SN: xxxxx) is to do with the identification number to the manufacturer if you ever contact them so that they can search for details of your laptop and there's nothing to do with the product key.

  • Message 'the underlying connection was closed unexpectedly' when you enter the serial number for the weather and wildlife program.

Original title: message "the underlying connection was closed unexpectedly.

I use an updated, newly installed Windows 7 Home Premium from Windows XP. I downloaded and installed a program called the weather and wildlife and when I enter my serial number for verification in order to access the program I get an error box that says: "the underlying connection was closed: the connection was closed unexpectedly."

I tried to disable the firewall, but this does not solve the problem. I do not have antivirus software installed so that either cannot interfere.
Any suggestion will be highly appreciated!

    Hello Srimadhwa,

Thanks for your suggestions. The internet connection works properly on the computer.
When I wrote my first question I had difficulties to access weather data and wildlife in every web browser I've used. For example, I tried to download the software from the download page of W & W and in Explorer, it would get a page that says "Cannot display Page". Other browsers had other types of errors. Finally, the company sent me a file of the program that I installed but then when I entered the serial number, I would get the message "the underlying connection was closed unexpectedly.
This morning I tried again to download the program from the W & W page and also to enter my serial number for the installed program and it seems that the W & W database is connected successfully, but now I get a message saying that the serial number is invalid (which is certainly not the case).
Since for some unknown reason the databased WW can now access my computer I have now will contact the company to see why my serial number is rejected.
    Thanks a lot again!
  • How cab I find the serial number for the Photosmart HP 4580 series or model. Many unidentified figures.

All of a sudden my printer (HP Photosmart 4580 series) stopped working with an incompatible cartridge error message. Foolishly, I took a cartridge and managed to damage it. Since I found a page on the fair questions that could help. However when I tried to find the model and serial numbers and the printer, none seems to be identified or resemble those on video from HP.

Some of the number there are on the machine are:

    [serial number removed]

    Q8400-64001 (32)

    1H7EHHCE9

    SNPRB-O721-02

    CCAF08LP0120T4

The number on the cartridge rises to 350.

Can anyone help, even with an example of how the number should look like even if it is not the same?

That is great news! Can you please mark my recommendation (post # 2 in this thread) as the accepted solution? This will help other members of the community looking to find series/number produces an easy solution!

    Thank you in advance!

  • I bought Photoshop CS2 in 2005. I recently changed my PC and load the software on the new PC.  I load the CD and proceed through the steps.  When it's time to serial number software tells me the serial number on the CD case is not valid

I bought Photoshop CS2 in 2005. I recently changed my PC and load the software on the new PC.  I load the CD and proceed through the steps.  When it's time to serial number software tells me the serial number on the CD case is invalid.  It is the same serial number, I used previously.  How do I remedy this situation so that I can use the software on my new pc?

First, use the serial number to the right of the download for Windows.

Do not place information in the field of the Organization after you enter the number. Which causes problems.

If you have windows 8, you may need to change the directory to progra ~ 2 on some 64-bit windows systems:

The reason for the use of progra ~ 2 on a 64-bit system when installing a 32-bit application is the 8 character limit imposed by Windows. PROGRA ~ 2 totals up to 8 characters, program ~ 2 is 9

    You have 2 options:

    1. in the installation, change your path to C:\progra~2\... and install it. It should work.

2 copy Setup on your local drive. The right click on Setup.exe, properties > Compatibility tab > run in compatibility mode. The choice of XP SP2. Click OK. Run Setup.exe

    Either we have to work.
