Update video card (and a few other things)
A few questions about upgrades: first of all, can I upgrade the video card in my HP Pavilion P6000 series p6616f? Current card is ATI Radeon HD 4200. If so, can you suggest the best replacement that can handle games? I have to upgrade the power supply too? I also think it came with 6 GB ddr3 ram. Can I put that as well... and what is the maximum it will take?

If so, can you suggest the best replacement that can handle games? Yes, you can install a discrete PCI Express x 16 video card. I love EVGA, Sapphire, XFX and PNY in that order. It should be not newer than the HD 6000 series. Latest maps (HD 7000 series) require a UEFI BIOS on the motherboard works properly. It is difficult to know which card to recommend. You will need to check the system requirements for the games you play to find out what is recommended.
I have to upgrade the power supply too? I also think it came with 6 GB ddr3 ram. Can I put that as well... and what is the maximum it will take? Recent mid-level video cards require a minimum of 400W to work properly. I normally recommend at least 500W. I love Corsair products that will give you more choices for video cards. I believe that the existing PSU is ATX standard. You can measure the existing PSU and compare the measurements to the one you choose.
Here are the Specifications of the product for the computer.

Hi Ron68PB,
1. you remember to make changes to the computer before this problem?
2 are you able to open other programs?
3. do you get error messages or error codes?
Method 1:
You try to run a SFC scan to check the corrupted system files.
You can read the following article to launch the SFC scan:
How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833
Method 2:
Alternatively, you can try to check if the problem occurs in safe mode.

Compaq CQ58 - 299EV model of updated video card and driver for win7 64 bit and ram upgrade
Hello
Since I was my compaq laptop (about a year), it was windows 7 64 bit operating system inside, even if the manual was for windows 8. So, when I looked up initially for up-to-date drivers I couldn't find support for win8, but I chose not to because I saw tons of compatibility issues with this model of laptop. Well I don't want to update soon, so I would like to know what are the latest drivers I can find for my model for win7 64-bit.
So, what model of video card has it built in (it just says: "Intel(r) HD Graphics"), so I can find the right drivers for it?
Also can I put my ram? There are now 2 GB.Thanks in advance.
Since it is a Celeron processor it comes:
Intel HD Graphics (on models with Intel Pentium or Celeron processor; supports DirectX 10)
They don't give him a number. The processor is based on the Sandy Bridge architecture, so any driver for the video card HD 3000 series will work.
Latest version of the Intel driver
This can take up to 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3-1333 SO-DIMM, like this:
Here is the Manual:
See page 45 for the upgrade procedure.
If it's 'the Answer' please click on 'Accept as Solution' to help others find it.

HP Envy 750-177C: update video card and power supply
Hi I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a 2 GB video card that can fit in my camera, and if the power supply must also be of a certain type, thank you.
@Docta1, welcome to the forum.
Here is a video card that will definitely work with your computer.
The power supply unit (PSU) in the computer is stanard ATX. I love Corsair products and recommend at least 600W. A modular power supply is good for small boxes. It allows you to use only the cables that are absolutely necessary. This allows for better air circulation. The video in my link card requires a connector 6 extra pins.
Please click on the button + Thumbs up if I helped you and click on accept as Solution If your problem is resolved.

Hi guys just got my rocket today well.
slight problem is that all my album art displayed on the legacy, therefore, some is not... so far I just open the folder my computer sanza and meant a lot of album in there from my office. Any ideas why some of the art appears, but some doesn't?
Also is there anything else I should be doing now, I own one of them? Am I very reccomened to download. updates etc.
Please me school on that I've never owned anything like that before.
Thank you very much.
There are a few things that you might want downlaoding, the thing most important (and most frequently recommended) to download Mp3tag. Then depending on your intended use of the reader you can consider to Sansa Media Converter, you will need if you want to play videos or photos (other than album art) on the drive. Definitally make sure that you update the firmware. Regarding next album covers the configuration of your tags are there are several ways to do so. Download mp3tag and use it to look at those who have worked the album art, then make sure that those who do not work is configured in the same way.

Error 0 x 80070643 WSE and a few other things _
WINDOWS Security Essentials prompted me to update I did, it cannot be performed due to error 0 x 80070643. Restarted, I tried again, same thing. From what I've read, it's a generic error code. After trying to install it once more, he says now: error code 0 x 80070002.
Vista has developed a lot of problems last year. Many times I have to activate the sound manually, the Explorer is "not responding" about 1 to 5 times. Terrible. There is perhaps an essential element is wrong with my machine. When I tried to contact the Windows Support it 'problems with my product identification No. Well, it's rich, it came pre-installed, and I have no idea what the problem should be with her. It worked fine a year ago.
What can I do? I am so tired of fighting Vista on everything.

Problems with the video card and sound card on Toshiba model #PSLCOU - 02701G
I bought a new laptop in 2009, and it is a Toshiba, model #PSLCOU - 02701G. After about three months the video card and the sound began to spoil. It's what he does, I can go on U-tube or any web site that has a video to watch like CNN news, etc. What it does is it starts to play and the video and the sound is good and he paused for a few seconds and starts again, new breaks and pauses, starts, pauses, starts. He does it all the time, and I was wondering if you all have any idea whats going on? Help? Help?
It really sucks when you try to watch the news. Also, I put a CD or DVD into the laptop and it works perfectly. I can watch any DVD or listen to a GREAT Cd.
How is your network connection? Sometimes, the system needs to create a cache to store the downloaded information and if the download is not pass quickly enough the system will freeze while wiaiting for download to catch up - not a problem with your sound cards and video, but with the speed of Connection on the website or on the network itself (or your network equipment). This looks like the case if the DVD and the CD's works fine. Check your internet connection and try to download the video pages to see if the problem is with all the downloads, or only those on a site. You can contact your ISP and have them help check you connection and settings and the modem for problems or changes, you can do to improve things. Sometimes happens to me as well in the internet connection runs slower than normal and there is nothing that I can do but wait to accelerate - and it's frustrating.
You can get in trouble with your device drivers. Go to the Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears. Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white? These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else). Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips. If you need to get the drivers (and you need you to do all you have time to do, but at least the network card, sound card and video card - they can help way beyond simply solve this problem), get the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates). In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/. Follow these steps to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm. Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!

Hello
I have a problem of Age of Empires 2 running on my new computer. Keeps displaying the following error message: "cannot initialize the graphics system. Make sure that your video card and driver are compatible with DirectDraw. "Someone at - it solutions to this? I have already visited many forums and trying different solutions; None of them helped.
Tried solutions: change the compatibility and as an administrator, switching to 16-bit color, turn off my graphics card, execution of the extension "nostartup" of the game, looking for old patches from Microsoft (which most are now unavailable due to the game being so old). I KNOW that others have been able to get this game to work on the Windows 7 operating system, but with a few other quirks and I KNOW my video card and driver are more than capable of handling this game. Any suggestions?

I had the above problem with AOEII:Age of the Kings. My brief spec is Windows 7 Ultimate edition (SP1) and a card nVidia 8600 GT. I did the following (make sure you reboot after each installation):
Make sure that you are running the latest patch of AOEII:AOK (2. 0 a):
http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?ID=35
Download and install the latest version of DirectX:
http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?ID=5264
Download and install the latest nVidia Driver suite. I left the autodetect my card software and reset all my default settings. I also installed the full software suite:
http://www.nvidia.com/download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
Finally, right click on the shortcut of AOE and click Properties. Click on the Compatibility tab and select the following:
-Run this program in compatibility mode - choose Windows XP Service Pack 2 (!) NOT 3!)
-Disable visual themes
-Disable the Composition of the Bureau
-Run this program as an administratorOne of the above options maybe work on its own, but that's what I had to do to make it work and I tested it after each step.
Good luck!

Need help updating video card!
Hello
I bought a HP last year: AMD Athon 64 Quad Core
8 GB Ram
ATI Radeon 4200 graphics card
POWER 250W
However, the video card works well with some of the new software that we have recently added this season holiday, I'm looking to upgrade the machine. After researching on the forums, it seems that the HD6870 is a solid upgrade at a reasonable price, but PS the250W is a matter of concern.
My questions are:
(1) can I buy any power supply (looking Coolmaster 460W PSU)
(2) with the new power supply, is that all I need to upgrade the video card and
(3) I just want to confirm that the HD6870 is a compatible video card that will work with my machine and the new PSU
Thanks in advance.
Most of the HD 6870 cards I Iooked at having these requirements;
■PCI Express® based PC is required with a X 16 channel available on the motherboard graphics slot.
■2X75 Watt 6 pin PCI Express power connector is required.
■Certified-power supplies are recommended. Please refer to: http://support.amd.com/us/certified/power-supplies/Pages/listing.aspx
■500 Watt Power Supply is necessary.(1) Yes, you can buy any power supply, but he needs 500 watts or more, and fit into the case without blocking the other components. A few favorites forum are Corsair CX500, or CX600.
(2) who should be all you need.
(3) the HD 6870 should work on your system with a new 500 watts or PSU. However, if you provide the model number or product number, we could check the specifications of your computer to better confirm that this is the case.

Windows blocked key after installing a new video card and hard drive.
I got a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 - bit edition since the early release, purchased through Newegg. Since then, I used it on my desktop, which I update regularly. I changed the hard drives, processors and cards video several times and reactivated without a problem, but this last Friday, I installed a new video card and the DSS, and when I went to activate windows told me that my key was blocked without any explanation. I can only assume that this is because I changed my hardware configuration. My copy of windows remained only on this computer over the years. Here are the results of MGADiag running on my system.
If there is any question about the legitimacy of my copy, I have the DVD, booklet, cases, cardboard sleeve he shipped initially and purchase of invoices from Newegg on the spot.

video card and the black screen problems.
Hello world! My desk top compaq presario sr1411nx don't seem to support a video card, I've recently tried
to install. I put the card in one of the three open slots connected to the motherboard, and it seems to fit very well.
The operating system I have is a Microsoft Windows XP Edition family version 2002 service pack 3, Celeron (R) CPU 2.80 ghz, 248 MB of ram.
The graphics card is an ATI Radeon X1300PCI 256 MB. After I installed the card the following continues to happen.
I turn the hard drive and follow on. The windows start menu back to the top.
A message box appears telling me to close all programs. Restart the computer if the installation of the video card
can be updated and completed.
I then, restart the computer. After that I'm doing it just a black screen and white pointer popup. As I move the mouse
There is no beep sounds. Browser menu and start the internet windows does not load upward.
I then remove the video card and restart the computer and everything works fine.
Question: What could be the cause, and I can fix it?
Thank you
Frogman
Try to go into the cmos setup in the bios and see if there is any option to disable the onboard video as memory goes against zero or as allowing the pci. If not try to change the graphics card to the other pci slot

Please help me with the video card and power supply issues!
Hello and thanks in advance for any help. I'll try and do a short explanation, but I can't promise anything. I bought an a6620f Pavilion about 2 months ago I didn't know that you had to purchase a special hardware in order to play video games. In any case, I bought about 300.00 worth of new video games and none of them works. they say because of my video card. Then try to buy a new video card and it won't work because I only have a 250 watt power supply. I spoke with a hp technician before you buy a PSU and I was told that my motherboard was only designed to use a 300 watt max power I tried to buy one at best buy and the clerk said 4500 is the smallest they sell. and I need at least a 400 Watt or powerrsupply to make the new video card with a value of buyiong. My questuion is what can I do if I can't buy one more big power supply how can I install a new video casrd? Please help me I'm lost

Sorry to hear about your frustration. Here's some good news.
I think you have been misinformed or there was a communication error. Your motherboard should not be limited to the only 300W. I don't know with certainty how high you can go in watts, but you can go higher and should go higher, if you add a video card.
The important thing is to get the right kind of diet that fits your connectors.
Here is a document with step-by-step instructions and video for adding a video card.
Here is a document with the video to replace the power supply.
