Update Windows (0x8ddd0002 error)
original title: 0x8ddd0002 error with Windows XP Media Center - checked other issues, with no solutions found!
Well, I got the error code 0x8DDD0002 with Windows Update. I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition. I am the admin, it is a single-user computer. There McAffee Virus Scan Enterprise and Zonealarm firewall.
I have already crossed and tried the 6 methods on the Windows Support and they did not work for me! (So don't bother not even display them) Short of reformatting and reinstalling Windows, are there any patches for this. This computer had a virus some time ago, the famous XP Security Center virus, of course it was so that it could not update more.
Hi BenGross,
I agree with doing a clean install, because you were not able to cross the installer during the repair. You can find useful the option under Windows XP .

CONTINUE WITH WHAT?
Search for malware:
Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:
Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)
Search online with eSet Online Scanner.
The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:
Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in. Look for whatever it is you do not know using Google (or ask here.) You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.
You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory. This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.
Do a house cleaning and the dust of this hard drive:
You can free up disk space (will also help get rid of the things that you do not use) through the following steps:
Windows XP should take between 4.5 and 9 GB * with * an Office suite, editing Photo software, alternative Internet browser (s), various Internet plugins and a host of other things installed.
If you are comfortable with the stability of your system, you can delete the uninstall of patches which has installed Windows XP...

How to use disk cleanup
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310312You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...
When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:
-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file. You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...
1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
2. click on the System Restore tab.
3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
5. click on OK. Then click OK again. You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...
Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...
-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
-Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
-Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer. You can use an application that scans your system for the log files and temporary files and use it to get rid of those who:

Its been a while now that I can't download and update my Windows Vista Home Premium(64-bit), every time I click on install updates, it starts to download the updates, and when its done and the error occurs, code error: 800 B 001, "Windows has encountered an unknown error" and when when I try again... Error code: 80240016, "Windows update currently installed other updates. Please try again later in a few minutes. »
I downloaded the update Windows Vista SP2 site Web Microsofts (Yes, im still in SP1), thinking it could slove the question, I can not install, when I clicked to install it, it says: "the form specified for the subject is not one supported or known by the specified trust provider."My Vista is genuine and activated, came with my laptop HP HDX16 1050EE.
This issue has been hard for awhile and its a little boring.
Thanks in advance.Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are notorious for not not upgrade (or uninstalling) itself. (No, Symantec Support never say this.) See if the following solves your problems:
1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe
2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).
3. After completing some you have a copy of your handy product key, uninstall all Norton software (including LiveUpdate and everything Norton Add ons) via Control Panel | Programs | Uninstall a program (or Control Panel |) Programs and features, if you are using the classic view).
4 IMPORTANT! -Online activate Windows Firewall immediately after the restart.
NB: Now you're "working without a net": no to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation, reading e-mail, chat) until you have completed step #7 below!
5. right click on the file that you saved in step #1 above, and then select run as administrator. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.
6. do a clean install of the 2010 version of your Norton application, using your product ID & reboot: http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080514162318EN
TIP: Do not activate or install additional modules of Norton (for example, Norton Anti-Phishing) immediately.
7. manually and repeatedly run LiveUpdate until you get a prompt "no update more".
8 test cycle.
NB: Your Norton application can disable Windows Defender by default.

Error message when you try to update Windows Vista - error attest 80070641 / 641
I guess that many people have had this problem, all of a sudden.
When you try to do updates on May 9, 2012, there were several updates available for me (23 in total). I have windows updated put in place to notify me when updates are available (always have it) so I can see what will be installed (and not installed) on my machine. He 11 successfully installed the updates and 12 in vain. I try whenever I turn on my computer to update the 12 failed and failed in each attempt.
For the record, I tried several remedies posted on this forum nothing is done.
Attach it to the tool = failure
System File Check = failure
Update system = failure analysis tool
Windows Update Agent = failure
Stop the service (wuauserv), empty folder to update windows (C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download) files = failure
Tried to install the other updates separate security updates = failure
Tried to install other updates separate updates security = failure
Other suggestions = failureI just do a fresh install of Vista 32 bit (with service pack 2) on a SSD to return the 15/03/2012. I update my registry every 2 to 3 weeks. The last program that I've updated was Adobe's Flash plugin on 04/05/2012. Before that, it was an update to AnyDVD is 30/04/2012. The last program that I installed was a kit of expansion for the Sims 3 on 19/04/2012.
This problem just happened out of the blue. Never had any problems with updates like this before until 09/05/2012.
Here's some of my windows update log file. Looks like I only selected 4 security updates and 8 others are not selected on the left.
See that this related thread (in particular the JanetD post which includes what told him IOlo support)-online http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_update/getting-error-codes-641-and-80070641-when-trying/6022df1d-7914-4e3e-ac5e-dbef07df433c

After that I used the recovery CD, Windows Update gives me error code A 8024, 000.
