Updated Firefox to version 23 - several problems

Hello.

It is my first post in this forum, even if I'm a long-time Firefox user. I'll take the chance and thanks for all the effort you put into providing the best browser to Mozilla and keep the web open.

Everything worked great until I allowed Firefox update to version 23 today.

I have multiple problems, maybe more that in any process to upgrade to this day, that's why I take my time to write this post and hopefully provide a feedback to do better in the future Firefox releases.

1. in the previous version, I got all the plugins that have been blocked with the parameter 'plugins.click_to_play' set to true. At the present time, I am aware that it is possible to set this option individually for each plugin in firefox > extras > plugins, the problem is now I have to turn them all to "always ask", even if click_to_play is always true and in "subject: permissions", I always always "ask" activated. This makes no sense and it goes against the functionality of Firefox introduced not so long ago, click to play the plugins in each page.

2 - Youtube videos stopped working, they charge not at all and sometimes youtube report "an error has occurred." I tried with active plugins and click here to read, but nothing works. However, DailyMotion and Vimeo videos are loading very well so far.

3 - Facebook Messenger for Firefox stopped working too. I deleted and added to many times, login and logout of facebook, by following the steps to troubleshoot this https://support.mozilla.org/pt-PT/kb/how-does-facebook-messenger-firefox-work but nothing seems to do the job, the cat remains empty of zero it and buttons for the updates and friend requests do not appear yet.

I'm also a bit annoyed with the change in research, I usually kept two different search engines, an impressive bar and the other in the search bar, it has been very helpful. Now, when we change the motor in a bar, it's the same in the other, then why keep the search bar at all? Why not integrate in the awesome bar? This change is not sensible as well. Let's say I googled awesome bar and want to search DDG, I must change first and only then search, but then I have to come back once again, this is a very regrettable decision. If it is to make it easy to change the default search engine, this should be found in the settings.

Furthermore, I don't think that quite remove features of the browser is the best way to keep the part of the user for that matter, with various search engines could remain an option for those who want to, can say the same about the disabling of tabs, even if some of them should never be used by most people It does not mean that they do not serve. Configurability is always special Firefox, the possibility to make it * your * browser.

Even if I'm frustrated by these problems, please take this as constructive feedback. I always will support Firefox all the ways that I can!

BTW, I love the new logo design!

I was able to understand the problem with Youtube videos

"An error has occurred. Please, try again later"appears on every Youtube video since I've upgraded to Firefox 23 in two of my personal profiles, although many others such as DailyMotion or Vimeo worked well.

After you start in safe mode, starting to play Youtube videos and I found the problem was caused by HTTPS Everywhere extension (by EFF) https://www.eff.org/https-everywhere

So in Firefox 23, apparently Youtube can't play videos in a secure HTTPS connection.

For those who have the same problem, because it doesn't happen on Youtube and nothing else (as far as I know), there is no way to disable this add-on, simply go to its options in Firefox > Add-ons, search for Youtube, right click on the entry and select alternative to disable the connection on Youtube.

Regarding Facebook Messenger, its seems broken for many people, as you can see in the following positions

https://support.Mozilla.org/PT-PT/questions/967502
https://support.Mozilla.org/PT-PT/questions/959474

It is not something on my Firefox configuration, because it is broken on a newly created profile as well and others suffer from the same thing, if I can just sit and wait for a fix to be corrected, meanwhile I'm disable.

Click to play plugins is a work in progress on Firefox, so I hope it is addressed in the next version. Set to true in: config should require activation for them all, but it's not the case, since they are all still active in Firefox > Addons > Plugins. The solution is to require the activation individually for each plugin.
