Upgrade firmware form 2.1(1a) for 3.1 (1e)

Hello

I have a UCS version 2.1(1a)-based system and I need to upgrade to 3.1 (1e).

I couldn't find any document related to the improvement of this version 3. XX

can be done directly or do I have to go to intermediate version such as 2.2 (5), or then?

Thanks in advance.

I guess that your infrastructure of UCS is currently / 2.1?

Upgrade from 2.1 to 3.1.1 would need a two-step upgrade 2.1-> 2.2 and 2.2-> 3.1.1e

The steps are so

(1) move the UCS infra to 2.2.x version

(2) blades upgrade to version 2.2.x

Procedure:

http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/TD/docs/unified_computing/UCS/SW/upgrading/From2-0/TO2-2/b_UpgradingCiscoUCSFrom2-0To2-2.html

(3) improve the UCS infra to 3.1.1e

(4) move the blades to 3.1.1e or an adapted version

Procedure:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/ucs-manager/GUI-User-Guides/Firmware-Mgmt/3-1/b_UCSM_GUI_Firmware_Management_Guide_3_1/b_UCSM_GUI_Firmware_Management_Guide_3_1_chapter_01.html#concept_F4E8EB876BC949E2855327611B88B866

As stated in the link

"Before moving to Cisco UCS Manager version 3.1, make sure that the existing infrastructure and the server bundles is on a Cisco UCS Manager 2.2 (x) version, or later versions. .

Important:

The upgrade of the infrastructure beams earlier than Cisco UCS Manager version 2.2(1a) is not supported. »

Hope that help, please indicate any solution that fix that will help the other fine a solution more quickly.
