upgrade of oracle 8.1.7.0 to 11g database

I have a database Oracle 8.1.7.0 I want export to Oracle Database 11 c
What is the method et le steps that need to be follow-up to do the job while maintaining the database is safe et effective
I am also in the process of collection these rules in a single database, which is the method of collection, while retaining the features of each basis and users of the database
Thank you very much

Since you go 8i to 11g, your only option is import/export.

I hope that you have a test environment, where you can test your upgrade and confirm that everything is ok.

    Hello

    Yes it is possible. You can review;

Compatibility matrix of Database Server Upgrade/Downgrade [ID 551141.1]

If the source database is 9.2.x then it can be downgraded to 8.1.7.3.0 (or higher)

If you want to downgrade your 9i database I would also advice to review the following:

    Concerning

  • The upgrade of Oracle client

    Hello

Recently, we have updated production company running on AIX 5 L of 10.2.0.1-> 10.2.0.4. There is little of siebel CRM applications where oracle 10.2.0.1 client was installed and these application using oracle client jdbc to connect to the database server.

I would like to know, claim we upgrade the oracle 10.2.0.1 client as well to the same group of patches from the database server (10.2.0.4).
do we have any Oracle recommendation for same? As this is a living environment and no results in loss of bussiness downtime.

    Thanks in advance.

Both your client software certified on the last group of patches, there is no reason do not improve the customer.

  • Upgrade of Oracle DB RAC/Clusterware 11.1.0.6 for 11.1.0.7

We currently have an installed Oracle and 11.1.0.6 with Clusterware running 11.1.06 and we have been informed by one of our suppliers to perform an upgrade for 11.1.0.7. I had a few questions regarding the upgrade process because I do not found the answers in reading me on the site.

    1. in the read me section it is this statement «The Oracle Clusterware software must be at the same or more recent than the software Oracle Oracle RAC Oracle home or home ASM.» Therefore, you should always pass Oracle Clusterware before you upgrade Oracle RAC or Oracle ASM. This patch does not allow to upgrade Oracle RAC or ASM Oracle before you upgrade of Oracle Clusterware. »

When I did the installation I downloaded 11g Release 1 and Clusterware 11 g release 1. Now, I know that the patch is for 11.1.0.7 database, this means that it is an inclusive to Clusterware? I tried to search in metalink in the "Fixes and upgrades" section for an 11.1.0.7 upgrade for RAC, but did not find anything.

    2. I plan to do this update on Saturday, while we have minimal connectivity. Can I still upgrade spread from the DSO even if we will have little to no connectivity?

    3. can I just use the dbca utility to upgrade the database or is it better to manually update each individual database, because I am running Clusterware.

I apologize if these questions are generic, but I wanted to just make sure that I understand very well what I'll do.

If I understood your question correctly then yes it's true that the clusterware version must be at the level even of the Oracle RDBMS / ASM houses in this cluster. The same group of fixes is applicable for Clusterware, ASM, and RDBMS and YES will modernize the binary relevant according to your selection of ORACLE_HOME, while applying to this group of patches using YES. It's the beauty of Oracle RAC that it allows you to perform the upgrade of the Clusterware and ASM then why not use it because it allows to avoid downtime. In your case if you can afford downtime, then it must be your choice to not use it. I recommend using dbua upgrade the database because he takes care of everything that is necessary to upgrade the database.

According to me, the rest of the inventory is clean I always create an empty oraInventory directory before cloning.
DBUA gives also the message, if you don't see the database you want, make sure that the entry with the name of the database exists in the file/var/opt/oracle/oratab file.
I think I have to change the oratab file manually to remove the entry ' FATST: / u02/fatstdb / 10g: N ' that the entry you want is already there. Is this right?
Also I copied manually init < sid > 9ihome/dbs to 10ghome/dbs .ora, change the required parameters. I want to know if this manual step is necessary?

    Hello

I want to know is there any another post update step that needs to be done or can I just continue with the steps of Doc ID: 362203.1 publication of Oracle Applications 11i with Oracle 10 g Release 2 (10.2.0)

You can just continue with the steps in this note, change the settings of initialization as described in the Note: 216205.1, perform the additional database configuration, and then do the 10.2.0.4 patch set the tasks resulting from installation until the end of the note.

    Good luck!

  • Setup error ODAC 12 c R4 client on the same machine with Oracle 11 g 64 bit for Windows database

I have Oracle objects and mobile application development with:

    Windows 7 64-bit OS

    Base Oracle = C:\ORA

    Database Oracle 11 g 64-bit 201, home = C:\ORA\DB11G201

I was running in Visual Studio 2010 and the ODAC customer Oracle 32-bit in another home = C:\ORA\DB11G201CLIENT32

All was well for a few years on that set up.

I decided to upgrade to Visual Studio 2013 and .NET 4.5

Deletion of Visual Studio 2010 and installed Visual Studio 2013.

I did a normal uninstall of the Oracle 11 g 32-bit client using the rebooted, Oracle Universal Installer.

The customer old house was gone.

I downloaded the ODP.NET12C 32-bit Oracle with VS tools R4 and began the installation of the client.

I selected English and built-in OS account

    I chose Oracle base = C:\ORA

    I chose hone Oracle = C:\ORA\DB12CR4CIENT32

    But I encounter the error:

[INS-32104] User Oracle Home specified is not the owner of the Oracle Base specified.

    The owner of C:\ORA's ADMINISTRATORS.

    When should I do?

For guests of 12 c, opened a NEW BASE and a NEW HOUSE?

Created an ACCOUNT to STANDARD USER and the select statement, but keep c:\ORA and the new C:\ORA\DB12CR4CIENT32 of the House?

I'm a hold out for migration to Oracle 12 c database because they thrown into the very useful tool Oracle Database Control and replaced by something watered down.

So I like to keep the Oracle 11 g 64-bit database.

but Visual Studio 2013 support, use the 12 c R4 32-bit and 64-bit support drivers unmanaged.

I would use (and use) Managed drivers, but they do not work in database 11g FIPS-140 active environments.

Thank you for your help and comments.

    Hello

This is expected because you install 12 c in Base Oracle who has home 11g.

From 12 c, the installation program has promoted "Oracle Home User' where you can perform the installation with built-in admin user or a secure non-admin user.

    As documented at https://docs.oracle.com/database/121/NTCLI/install.htm#NTCLI1283

"Oracle 12 c Release 1 (12,1) database client may not share basic Oracle with houses of the Oracle database versions, such as Oracle Database 11 g Release 2 (11.2) and sooner."

Please see the information listed in the link above for more information.

Bascially, you need to install in a different Oracle Base and can have all this work.

    Kind regards.

  • "Rolling upgrade" method is applicable to the single instance of database?

    Hello

I did a google search, but all the documents I found refer to the deployment of upgrade for JRC and DG Environment. Rolling upgrade can be used to upgrade, say Oracle 10.2.0.4 to 10.2.0.5? Or in general, the method "rolling upgrade" applicable to database specific environments? If Yes, could someone post a URL? I want to learn this in order to minimize downtime for upgrades of database.

    Thanks in advance!

As far as I KNOW, rolling upgrade applies only to CARS or DG scenarios. It does not apply to single autonomous databases.

  • Why a sql statement has become slow after upgrade to 11g database

    Hello

My previous version of the database is 9I and any sql statement are well-developed.
but after upgrading to 11g database, a sql statement become slowly.

My senior dba friend told me there are a few different calculating methods from 9i to 11g.
is any body can explain this different methods from 9i to 11g, and what should be attention to calculate at what level 9i to 11g. I thank.

    Sean

The administrator of yours is correct. What he meant, 9i, the works of the optimizer with different formulas and 11 g, there are different formulas. PS this sometimes causes when you upgrade from 9i (or even 10g too), analyze the queries that worked with RBO in 9i perfectly and used indexes, all of a sudden they stop using it because the CBO think not that this is a good choice. It would be too difficult to put formulas here by anyone, but what I can say is that to buy a book.
    http://www.Amazon.com/cost-based-Oracle-fundamentals-experts-voice/DP/1590596366

And practice on 9i, 10g and 11g. It would say a lot of formulas used by oracle.

  • Oracle on Linux and Windows Client question database server: NetMgr Windows and Linux NetMgr

    People,

Hello. I have installed Oracle Database 11 g 2 server in the Oracle Linux 5 Starter PT853 Instance of database virtual machine. Then I installed Oracle Database 11 g 2 client for 32-bit Windows XP 64 - bit Windows virtual machine. Now I face the problem of connection of the VMs 2 as below:

In Manager Net Linux Server Machine:

    Service name: PT853
    Connection type: default database
    "TCP/IP Protocol".
    Host name: localhost
    Port name: 1521

    Listener: LISTENER
    Protocol: TCP/IP
    Host: localhost
    Port: 1521

I test the Service PT853 with "SYSADM" username and password "SYSADM". The connection is successful.
In the Windows XP Client computer, the information in the Net Manager is the same, but the connection is not successful. Its details are as below:

    NET Service Name: PT853
    Protocol: TCP/IP
The database Machine host name: localhost
    Port number: 1521
Name of the Basic Service: PT853
    Connection type: default database

I have test the Service using "SYSADM" UserID and password to 'SYSADM' which are the same with Linux, but this error: TNS: listener does not currently of service requested in connect descriptor.

I followed this tutorial http://www.vmware.com/support/ws5/doc/ws_devices_serial_2vms.html to configure 2 virtual machines in Windows 7 host machine.

In Windows XP Oracle database Client Installer directory, the "tnsnames.ora" file has an entry that matches the name Service in Net Manager. Directory of database server installation Oracle Linux, the file 'tnsnames.ora' has no entry because I installed the server of Oracle database with the instance of database startup PT853.

I tried to test 2 virtual machines in the way as below:

    In Linux, [user@localhost ~] $ping WindowsXP_HostName
    Release: Unknown host WindowsXP_HostName

At the Windows XP command prompt:
    C:\ping localhost.localdomain
Its release: ping localhost 127.0.0.1 with 32 bytes of data...
    Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes = 32 time = 2ms TTL = 128

He meets a few times and then disconnected by itself. It seems that Windows XP is ping itself and not Linux server. The host name of the Linux server is 'localhost' as well. It is a kind of confusion for me.

From the information above, we can see that 2 VMs cannot connect between them. Net Manager in Windows XP Oracle Client unable to connect its Service PT853 with the Oracle Linux database server.

    My question is:

Can any folk tell me how to connect Oracle Client in Windows XP with the Oracle Linux database server?

    Very grateful in advance.

IP 192.168.196.102 is Linux. This means that oracle database Client in Windows XP may log into Oracle Database Server under Linux. Don't you think I'm not mistaken? If so, I'm very happy and very grateful to you.

"Do you think I'm not mistaken?

By definition, if you can establish a connection, then you are correct.

  • Upgrade of Oracle EBS base 10.2.0.4 for Oracle Database 12 c

    Hi gurus,

We are in the process of upgrading our EBS Oracle 10g database to 12 c and so below are the steps we took to upgrade the database with dbua 12 c

We have improved our database 10g of 10.2.0.4 to 10.2.0.5 compatible for the direct 12 c with dbua upgrade

    1 - install the Oracle 12 c software

    2. run the file from Oracle EBS environment that set the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID, but not ORACLE_BASE for the database that is upgraded

    3 - Go to the ORACLE_HOME\bin 12 c and run. / dbua

4 - 12 c dbua GUI appeared, but this isn't picking the 10g database in the Source ORACLE_HOME

What could be the cause and how is - this solve

    Kind regards
