Upgrade Oracle 9i to 11g

Hello

We have an Oracle 9i database, now the client wants to move to 11g.

Client insists on using import export to upgrade the database, rather than DBUA.

Can someone provide me with the steps for the upgrade of Oracle 9i to 11g using import export.

Also can you provide id note oracle to follow.

Thank you and best regards,

Patricia

Here are the high level steps.

(1) Create tablespace target Database 11 g.

(2) take full backup of Database 9i export.

(3) dump file to target server backup and import

(4) make the validation test as number of the object, objects, Invalid etc.,.

Steps are described here, you will.

    Hello

I did it by certification OCP 9i in 2006 by prometric. Now, I want to give the review for upgrade to 11g (Oracle Database 11g: new features for 9i EFC 1Z0-055).

I joined pearson VIEW. Please let me know if I need to add my previous certification in order to apply for 11 g OCP?

Also, I read somewhere that I have to take a hands on training before the review... I'm confused about it.

Can you get it someone please let me know the procedure to register for the 11g upgrade exam.

    Thank you

You must get your CertView account if you have not already.  This will show all of your existing certifications.  When you register at Pearson, you must use the same Oracle test that is used with Prometric ID (and will appear in your CertView account.  Guidance on the transition from Prometric of Pearson view are detailed in the FAQ (link below).  Search for Prometric and you will get hits for answer about any question imaginable.

    Global FAQs

If you already have a 9i OCP, you do not need to take another course of training practice to upgrade to 11 g.  You should have already taken a course to achieve this designation.  If you're a 9i OChas, it's a different story.  If you're an OCA, then 1Z0-055 will not upgrade you to an 11g OCP.  You will need to take the 1Z0-034 and a training course to become a 11 g OCP.

  • Upgrade to 10g and 11g: license cost?

    Hi guys,.

We are studying the possibility of upgrading to 10g and 11g. Oracle Software Update License & Support that we currently covers 11 g at level or to buy the software from scratch as if we never had?

Sorry if the question is stupid, but I never went through this process with Oracle before.

    Thank you!!

In General, when you purchase a support contract, upgrades are included free of charge. It is best to contact your seller to Oracle to confirm. If you have access to Metalink (which is a good sign), you can also open an SR to check

I want to just a list of Versions and flavors of Linux that supports Oracle 9i, 10g, 11g.

    Thank you

Use the certification tab in support.oracle.com. Select the product and release (IE. Database Oracle, 11.2.0.3.0) you want to check, let 'all' selected under the platform, and then click search. The results will be grouped for you. If you expand the Group of operating systems, you will get a list of distributions/versions for each supported operating system. I hope it's clear enough for you.

  • Oracle Designer 10 g (10.1.2.6) + Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g

    Hello

Can Designer of Oracle 10 g (10.1.2.6 - latest version) generated files (*.fmx, *.plx, * .mmx, *.) Rep...) deployed on Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g platform (Portal, forms, reports and discoverer 11.1.1.2.0 + Weblogic 10.3.3 Server) without recompiling again?

    With respect,

In the release notes for Designer 10.1.2.6 it are not about setting up Oracle Designer to work with Oracle 11g form (this is a quote of Designer 10.1.2.6 is now available. )

  • Info on Earphone for oracle 10g and 11g installed on systm unique

    Hello

I installed oracle 10g n 11g on my system. I have question regarding oracle listening port.

    Oracle 10g, Listener.ora

    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = CIP)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = kankala.kalyan) (PORT = 1521))
    )
    )

    Oracle 11g, Listener.ora

    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = CIP)(KEY = EXTPROC1522))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP (PORT = 1522))(HOST = kankala.kalyan))
    )
    )

My question is why the names of the listener are same even if your are on different ports?

and for disturbing people, why I installed 10 n 11 is
Initially only oracle 11g has been installed on my system. Later, I learned for the first time forms and I have to connect to the database frm developer suite 10 g. so I installed oracle 10 g database.

The names are the same, because this is the way which you created them.

If you want to make a change to use NETCA to delete and recreate one of them.

Just make sure that you have set ORACLE_HOME properly until you do.

  • Oracle 10g for 11g upgrade: DBMS_SYS. GET_ENV() problems catwinbundle.sql

    Hello world

We Oracle 10.2.0.4 installed on a Windows 2008 system and try to upgrade to Oracle 11.2.0.3. So far we have installed Oracle 11 to E:\oracle\ < DBSID > \11203 software and have run "opatch apply ' to apply patch 10 software. By reading this file, our next step is to run catwinbundle.sql. However, we get the following result in sqlplus:

    SQL > @catwinbundle.sql

    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.

    SP2-0310: cannot open the file "E:\oracle\ < DBSID > \102\rdbms\admin\catbundle.sql.

In our prompt (run in elevated mode), we run the command "set ORACLE_HOME = E:\oracle\ < DBSID > \11203." However, we found the scripts catwinbundle.sql and catbundle.sql to retrieve the value of ORACLE_HOME for the registry entry for Oracle 10 g (i.e. E:\oracle\ < DBSID > \102).

Other amending temporarily the registry entry to run catwinbundle.sql, is there another solution to this error?

PL run this at the end after all upgrade scripts have been executed successfully.

  • Upgrade of Oracle 9i to 11g

    Hello

I ve a sun with Oracle 9i and we server will upgrade the versio of Oracle 11 g, but it has several applications that need to be recompiled with Oracle 11 g.

Currently we use strong Developer 6.2 to compile sources of applications, this development tool uses Oracle 9i Pro * C to communicate with the database.

Is the Oracle 11 g Pro * C compatible with the strong Developer 6.2, or to upgrade the version of Oracle I need also to upgrade the version of development tool?

    Thanks in advance,

This isn't an answer to your question, but my opinion on your question.

If you want to upgrade the database to your application, it is logical to upgrade all development tools as well.

I see that you posted the same question in the forums of both Sun

    http://forums.Sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5332475

Your message and answer it speak for themselves.

  • Upgrading Oracle 11 g in Oracle Application Server 10 g application server?

    Hello

I use Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.31) now, and I want to upgrade to server applications Oracle 11 g, how do I do now?

I'm not OAS11g, but I find 11g Oracle Weblogic (10.1.36), they are same?

If they are same, I need to download weblogic 11g directly, or is it to be directly upgraded package?

    Thank you

    Hello

You can install Weblogic directly and redeploy your Application in Weblogic.

Because if you have a SOA in 10.1.3.1 then there are separate steps and if you have only OC4J, so there are different steps to install 11 g.

    Kind regards

    Prakash.

  • Migrate a schema from oracle 8i to 11g

    Hello

I am struggling to find all the obligation to upgrade a pattern running on oracle 8i db installed on a sparc Server non-global solaris 8 box to an oracle 11 g on solaris 10 x 86 non-global zone.

There are changes in the architecture.

    I know, it's:

export using utiliy exp of oracle 8i

import in oracle 11g utility exp 11 g if it is still available.

I only need to migrate two patterns respectively 1 GB and 2 GB

Here are the patterns and sizes:

    Total

    Schema schema name size (MB)

    ------------- ----------

    CLAIMS 2851.07031

    ARCCLAIMS 1290.9375

Can you someone tell me what is the best way to do... That's what I think I should do.

I need to adjust the NLS_Lang to the source db character set both at the source and target machine. the two server do not have the same character set. Oracle 8i has WE8ISO8859P1 and oracle 11g a WE8MSWIN1252

Perform then run the catsql.exp script

    perform the exp

    exp sys / * owner = CLAIMS leader = CLAIMS.dmp

for PMI do I have to create the user, or it will be automatically created should manually create the user to amd timespaces?

What is the command to be used to import?

    Thank you.

    Mario

    Hello

Old style exp/imp does not users/tablespace create unless you do a full complete exp/imp - which you don't want to.

You must pre-create the tablespaces/profiles/users relevant to your 2 users prior to importation.
