upgrade to h710 h310

Hello

We have NX400 h310 with four hard disks of 3TO. (raid 5)

Can I replace new card h710 without data backup?

Thank you

Hello dowchee

It is always advisable to have a backup of your data in case there is a question in making the upgrade.  That being said, you should be able to change the H310 with the H710 and do an import of the configuration and everything should work perfectly.  But still I couldn't do that unless you had no way to back up your data.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I have a T320 with a RAID S110 and 8 3.5 "Hot Plug bottom of basket.    I want to upgrade to a H310 or H710. My rep specialist and Dell server cannot find part numbers suitable for the controller or the cable.  They told me to Google it!  I did and still found nothing.

342-4203 Controller PERC RAID internal H710 is what they have proposed, but that part # is not a built-in card, but a PCIe.

The cable part # can be DJXF7.

    Any help is appreciated.

The T320, according to the technical manual, calls to the 'card', not the 'integrated' version

  • Upgrade H310 mini to mini H710/P

    I use a RAID1 and a mini volume RAID 5 on r.620 with PERC H310.

However, due to performance issues, I would like to upgrade path my mini H310 H710 or H710P.

Is it possible to do without any reconfiguration and data wipe?

Yes, the H710 supports the migration of virtual disks H310.

  • T420 h310/H710

Please, I could do with a quick bit of advice.  I have a T420 with 8 bays, with 4 x 3 TB hard drive in a raid 5\ HW by PERC H310 (not a lot of data here) and 4 x 2 TB HARD drive full of data.  The 2 TB drives so far have been using pools of storage windows via windows essentials, there is no virtual machine on that server.

There is no return to the top of the data to any external storage. I know that before you say something more.

When I change the PERC for H310 to H710 raid 3 to 5 shows but I don't see that the pool of storage 2 TB in PERC or in the life cycle of dell and windows bios is fallijg to start. I can only imagine that the H710 dose not support JBOD here for windows can see no never it immobilized for priming.

So to solved this problem, I thought that maybe I could install the H710 on bus 6 from the motherboard (where its meant to be) and run half of the black plate with 3 TB disks in and then plug the H310 a second PCI - e and just so that I can transfer the data through while on windows run the other half on the black plate.

Don't you think that this will work only for a data transfer? also you re you timidly storage?

I have one still working on a budget to get more than 3 TB.

I could set up a second storage of some kind if I really have to, but it would take a lot of time to transfer data between two times and would therefore add no it if possible.

I'm just a home user with very little experience of dell servers, great curve of learning for me.

Thanks for your time on this in advance.

    NotKnowingAnyThing,

You're right, the H710 does not support the configuration not RAID (JBOD); That's why the 2 TB of storage was not visible to Windows. Theoretically, the system does not support the 2 internal controllers, but they are known to work properly.

Based on the internal priority PCIe Slot RAID System 6,4,5,3,1; you need to install the controller H310 on slot (bus) 4. Before any connection, check in OMSA make sure that 2 channels background basket separately is connected to 2 TB and 3 TB of storage disks.

Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Need to upgrade the R420 server with 3.5 "raid S110 to H310 controller backplane

    Hello

I want to upgrade a server R420 with snap-in basket to warm 3.5 "S110 raid controller to controller H310.  Can someone point me in the right direction as to where I can order this and the part for the controller ID and SAS cables needed to connect it?

    Thank you!

    SeaSterling,

Looking for the part number is K09CJ for the controller H310. The cables are 7M80X.

Now a Word. When upgrading a S110 to a H310, you CANNOT migrate the data intact. You must back up the data and recreate the berries.

Let me know if it helps.

  • Upgrade the R720 PERC H710

We have a 8 bays 3.5 "R720 with S110 base and want to switch to a H710.  It seems that we should get the mini monolithic version of the controller?  What is the part number for the appropriate controller?

Also, I guess also the MX3P7 cable to go with the upgrade, is that correct?

    Thank you!

    Thesoftener,

Here is the CODE for the H710 controller: 342-3534

    The cable is correct:

  • PowerEdge R320 - S110 PERC upgrade to PERC H710

I installed a H710 PERC integrated in my R320, which originally shipped with the S110 PERC.  The controller recognizes the 2nd virtual disk, but not the first, which is the boot drive.  It just shows that the 2 discs unconfigured.  Both work very well when I plug the cable into the S110.  What Miss me?

    Thank you

    Hello

Between the S110 and H710 RAID migration is not supported. You will need create new virtual disks on the H710.

    Thank you

  • PERC H310 H710p migration

    Hello

I'm not an expert in RAID configurations but I am in charge of server Dell T320 my company and we will replace the storage controller that comes with it (H310) with a PERC H710p. We have a configured RAID-1 and we will continue to use the two disks of same after migration. We will replace the controllers.

I know I have to do a backup before you replace the Exchange, but we will lose the RAID-1 configuration and data (including the operating system) after migration? Or it will be transparent to the system after reboot?

Where can I find a type of paper that could guide me through this process because I don't want to wreck anything.

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Jorge

    Hello.

It is advisable to back up your data before performing any maintenance task. Ensure that you have a backup is valid data. The PERC H710 P supports the migration of virtual disk controller PERC H310. As a best practice, make sure that the hard drives and firmware H710 P is up to date. Replace the H310 and update the H710 P firmware with the controller cables disconnected from the background. Stop the server and connect the cables of the controller in the background and then restart.

Your RAID configuration can be transparent to the system or appear in a foreign configuration. Clear the foreign configuration through the utility OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA) or Ctrl + R for the POST.

I would like to know how it works for you.

  • R320 / Perc H310 / SATA 3.5 - want to use SSD

    Hello

    I recently bought a Dell taking r320.

Unfortunately, I realized that I would have probably gone to Perc H310, am looking to upgrade. I would also like to run with SSDS supported, even if it is in the format of disk 3.5 "caddy. Can someone help me determine what parts I need to buy for this specification. I don't mind move from SATA to SAS (no doubt, it's just a change of cable?).

    Thanks for your help.

Looking at your photos (which somehow only published this morning, but with a timestamp older than my response), you don't need to worry about wiring. Backplane SAS aura disks SAS or SATA, 2.5 "or 3.5" variety.

  • Cable for T320 8x3.5 to Perc H710

I have a T320 with backplane replaceable 8x3.5 SAS drives hot. I ordered a Perc H710 (p/n 342-4203) to replace the H310. The SAS cable has the wrong connectors for the H710.

I chatted with Dell this morning and they told me that I needed the manufacturer Dell cy7n1. I ordered this. However, after ordering, I searched online and the images seem to show a cable with only one connector at each end.

What is the correct cable I need?

    Thank you.

    Hello

CY7N1 is a cable to connect to a backplane 4HDD. Background cable basket of 8HDD is DJXF7.

    Thank you

  • R710 HDD upgrade (maximum size).

    Hello

I need to upgrade the disks in my R710. Currently, I have SATA 6x1TB.

In the documentation , I found max supported disk size is 2 TB.

Then I found this NOTE from the ADMIN: broken link has been removed from this post by Dell disk > compatible with R710 3TO.

What information is true that both come from Dell website?

    I use H310.

    Thank you!

When the R710 was released, 2 TB was the largest supported and 3 TB were not common. Added support for the first update of the firmware > 2 TB disks on the H700 controller. The PERC 6 has a maximum limit of 2 TB per physical disk. So, to answer your question, both are met: 2 TB is the limit, if you use the PERC 6 (or SAS 6 controllers or S series) and 3 TB is supported on the H-series controllers.

The H310 will support larger than 2 TB disks, but it is not supported on the R710. It can work, but the H200 was designed to be used in the R710, not the H310, and it will also support > to 2 drives with the latest firmware.

  • The RAID on the PowerEdge T610 controller upgrade

This system came with a SAS6/iR controller and after the installation of Server R2 2012 and with 32 GB of RAM it's on all fours, probably because we use software RAID 5. I want to upgrade RAID controller so that I can use hardware RAID 5. What controllers are compatible with the T610? I know that the H710 is eligible, but what about the H710P and the H810? We have a bottom of basket that holds 8 discs. Do we need anything else? I see that some people needed cables as well.

PERC 6 / i and the H700 are validated for the T610. The Hx10 are 12 generation servers (like T620, T610 is 11G). H8x0 controllers are for external storage.

Main differences between H700 or PERC 6:

PERC 6 is 3Gbps, max disk 2 TB, 256 MB cache
    PERC H700 is cache cache/memory NVRAM 6Gpbs, TB + 2 disks, 512 MB or 1 GB

  • Councils upgrade equipment Performance - Premiere Pro CC 2015

    Hello

Hoping that someone can offer advice to upgrade to my current PC, editing system.

I have problems very important performance on my system recently and would like advice on the modernization of the CPU or other hardware.

    Performance problem:

Application Lumetri color to ANY clips (microsatellites) gives in glimpses extremely agitated, not visible, regardless of playback quality settings. Thus, Lumetri is useless in my current setup. The performance of the processor will hit it ceiling is 100% using Lumetri

    System hardware:

    • Dell Precision T5600
    • Xeon CPU E5-2609 0 @2. 40 GHz (core 4)
    • 16 GB OF RAM
    • Windows 7 64 bit
    • 3 x Dell Perc H310 SCSI Disk Device (main C drive, two others in a RAID to capture and previews configuration) I think that they are fast readers.
    • GPU - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780

This motherboard allows for a CPU extra (2 in total), expansion up to 128 GB RAM.

    Video projects

I mainly edit images from a Canon C100 MKII... mainly H.264 MP4s or AVCHD files.  I usually use projects Lumetri, Red Giant and After Effects effects in my creative projects, so it must be able to handle these well.

What do you recommend upgrade-wise to see improve performance?
I have to add a second processor E5-2609? Should I consider another CPU altogether?

Are there any other changes that you would recommend?

    Thank you in advance!

    Nathan,

The accuracy of your T5600 itself is OK, but the CPU and RAM you are eased for first smooth WAY.

I have a spreadsheet "make the power" which is a simple calculation of:

    Number of cores

    times

1 (if no Hyperthreading) or 2 (if Intel CPU support Hyperthreaded)

    times

    base clock frequency

So here are some of the results for the e5-26xx processors Xeon:

    E5-2609 = 9.6

    E5-2609 double = 19.2

E5-2687w = 49.6 - page high CPU workstation, VERY fast

    E5-2687w double = 99.2

    E5-2670 = 41.6

    E5-2670 double = 83.2

If you are not opposed to buying on eBay, you can get used e5-2670 processors for just under $150 / room. They had originally sold for around $1600 each. I still have a double e5-2687w Dell T7600 and he is very capable, but these same processors used will cost a good bit more.

So, go to two processors e5-2670.

You definitely need more RAM too. It's too cheap to spend at least 32GB.

    Kind regards

    Jim

  • R320 and H310 support for Dell / Seagate 3to SAS with SED?

    Hello

I'm playing with a R320 as a test bench (we have a few)

I seem to have a problem with a Dell Enterprise Plus badge Seagate Constellation ES.2 SED

Reference Dell part No 07GR 25 / Seagate model ST33000652SS

I seem to be able to set up as a virtual drive, but when I go to it's OpenManage, I can't drill down to the physical drive info, it all comes with an empty picture frame.

This also occurs if I try to go to the virtual, even if drive info another virtual disk, which is not to sit on the ES.2, shows the fine info

Given the firmware available for the ES.2 on R320 support page, I'm assuming that (I know..) it should work fine with the H310

Also, if I try to run the update of the firmware (version RSFE) I get an error "This update Package is not compatible with the configuration of your system"

It is a bench test 2012r2 data center, but found the Standard as well.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

    Thank you

    Hello

SED support is not a feature of the controller H310. You need a H710 or H710P if you want to use SEDs. If you search for "encryption" in the user guide you will find the section that lists the time controllers that support of the SEDs:

  • No service after upgrade the server to 5.2 on El Capitan

I have a web server that was doing very well until I left the 5.2 update suggested to install OS X Server. I can't get to broadcast web pages. Screen sharing works always and nothing has changed on the routers, etc.

I restarted the server after the update and restarted the server itself several times but keep getting connection via a browser failures.

I did the upgrade even on other servers as well as the upgrade of Sierra. This server is running El Capitan, and is the only one that gave me problems. 5.2 server is not compatible with El Capitan?

    Some additional info:

I can connect to the server through ftp and other services; just no web service.

Port tests show that port 80 is not blocked

Using the IP address I can get to the window of the home server.

    Accessibility means no services available

Websites is on and I can't find anything that is not defined in law or is different than before the update.
