Upgrade to Vista and a care

I have a windows care on my Acer PC both with Windows Vista. Carefully finish soon I was thinking about upgrading to Windows 7 with Norton or another form of similar protection. I want a program to backup my photos etc from backup files.

My questions are what makes I install first Windows & or security software? Anyone have recommendations for a security / software in lieu of One Care backup? and what I need to take care before doing any of this. ??

Yes, you must uninstall Windows OneCare before the upgrade to Windows 7.  Please download and run theWindows 7 Upgrade Advisor.  After the upgrade to Windows 7, download and install new Microsoft Security Essentials. Carey Frisch

  • I bought 7 retail to upgrade to Vista and have since upgraded to 10. The product key is coming as invalid

    I have an old laptop that I am trying to set up for my daughter. It had XP on it and I have a physical disc of Windows 7 I have installed on it. I bought 7 retail to upgrade to Vista and have since upgraded to 10. The product key is coming as invalid. I thought that I could use it again since I upgraded from 7 to 10. Is the product key invalid, because I already used it once even if I'm not on 7? Can I buy just a key somewhere or I have to buy a new copy of 7 again? It installed fine that I just can't turn it on. Thank you.

    OT:

    Windows 7 product key

    Because the free update of Windows 10 used the license to the retail of Windows 7 as an eligible basic license, you cannot transfer it elsewhere or you reuse.

    You will need to purchase a new license of Windows 7 or buy a license for version full Windows 10.

    My recommendation to waive the license of Windows 7, I would buy a full version license Windows 10.

    Once you do this, you can just update the values of product key for your system runs Windows 10, and then reactivate the license of Windows 7 by phone.

    Buy Windows 10 family/professional edition

  • Upgrade to Vista, and windows 7 (from xp)

    Now I have windows XP Professional installed on my computer. I want to upgrade to Windows 7, but there is no upgrade option; do not install that clean.

    The question is, I need to keep all my programs installed and running. I'm on a portable computer provided the school and programs are not accessible, so I can't reinstall them.

    If I choose 'upgrade' option during the installation of Vista, all my programs I currently still be installed and still work properly? I know if I have vista, I can't upgrade to 7 (even once, I hope keep all programs installed...?)

  • How to get a free upgrade to Vista?

    I can't find the answer to a simple question of how to get my free upgrade to Vista and what I need to do and where I need to send the information. I bought my laptop in November and the right am to the free update.

    Toshiba makes it deliberately hard to find while they can make money off of not providing the info, so people give up? I'm going nuts trying to find the info.

    Thank you

    Good luck! You have more chance get Vista drivers Toshiba as a free update. Basically, they announce the offer available only in the United States, in Europe, you will pay a company called Moduslink.

  • Audio lost after upgrade to Vista on a Satellite Pro A120 PSAC1E

    Hello

    I just upgraded to vista and I lost my audio. I tried all the latest orders, still no luck. The pc says the driver is installed and the device works correctly, but I can't hear anything. Volume is 100% also.

    Any ideas?

    Well, first of all how someone should provide advice, if you n t write anything on the name cell phone you! ???
    Then please provide more details on your laptop!

    I noticed the same problem on the satellite U200. After upgrading from XP to Vista there is no sound, but the audio driver has been correctly installed and audio chipset has also been recognized correctly.

    After a long investigation, I found a solution here in the forum.
    First, it was important to increase the volume to the maximum with XP installed. Together sound controls must also be set to max.
    Be sure to use the RIGHT driver sound after the new installation of Vista.
    Not all drivers are working!

  • Problem upgrading Windows vista

    My computer has recently been in the process of upgrading to vista and I turned it off.  When I turned on the computer the next day, he said "stage 3 of 3 0% complete do not turn off the computer" so I just let it go... However when I came back he said the same thing and I watched after 1 min on the screen to update the computer restarts and it's back to the same message and my computer keeps restarting and nothing is updated at all.  I tried to exit from this page, but I have in vain.  I also can only turn off the computer by pulling the battery / I don't know what can someone help me please?

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
    Hi S RAGAN,
    I suggest to perform the clean boot on your computer and check.
    From your computer by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine if a background program is interfering with your game or program. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot".
    To perform a clean boot on a computer, follow these steps.
    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.
    If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.
    3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.
    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.
    5. click on OK.
    6. When you are prompted, click on restart.
    7. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.
    Please follow the system in the boot environment. If the problem does not occur, it indicates that the problem is related to an application or a service, we have disabled. You can use the MSCONFIG tool again to reactivate the disabled one by one element to find the culprit.
    If your issue is resolved, follow the how to determine what is causing the problem section in KB article to narrow down the exact source.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796 . In addition, see the section on how to restore your computer to a Normal startup mode.
    If the same problem persists then, reset the Windows Update components and check.
  • After the upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 games installed in my laptop (Chainz, Cubis and Bejeweled, etc.) have bars on each side when displayed in full screen.
    I have a laptop Acer Aspire with a screen 16:9 wide (15.6 "), it has the latest graphic drivers ATI and all operating system updates.  After the upgrade to W7 (free upgrade with the purchase of the laptop) everything works wonderfully except all the games installed now not displayed in full screen, I get black bars on both sides, they used for Vista, but not with W7.
    I already tried different settings in the games options, administrator, resolutions screen different, being run in maximized 'Vista' and 'Run' mode of the file properties dialog box shortcut and .exe.  This happened without any security program installed that is not a factor.
    I am at a loss.
    This is to maintain the ratio l / h. It is how the images stretch. ATI no longer has the opportunity to play with the proportions for the sort of stuck like that unless you can find in your version of ATI Catalyst. It is in fact full screen as opposed to windowed mode, but it does not cover the entire screen.
    You can try different resolutions within the application to see if it will actually make your apps full screen to use the entire screen. That's all, remains to be done. I don't know why ATI has decided to exclude this option because some people hate the black bars or hate the stretched images.
  • Can I upgrade to vista without deleting my xp programs and files?
    upgrade
    Can I upgrade to vista without deleting my xp programs and files? I don't want to lose my programs/files downloaded, but I don't want to argue with remove them and reinstall later
    Yes, you can perform an upgrade "On the spot" and all your personal data and software applications will be available in Vista (provided that they are compatible Vista).
    As always, you should create a backup Image in XP before you begin the upgrade, just in case. Also check that you still have your XP product key. If this isn't the case, then use one of the below product key finders.
    corresponds to what is displayed by the utilities mentioned above as OEM such as
    Dell use an internal key code when they build your PC.
    The key on the sticker code should be used with your Windows CD
    Hello
    Vista Upgrade Advisor is no longer available.
    That's the only advice we can give you to see if you can upgrade to Vista:
    «Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Vista drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.»
    If not available, Vista will not properly work for you. »
    "System requirements for Windows Vista"
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/919183
    But the minimum requirements of Microsoft are just that, minimum.
    To begin, I would double the recommended amount of RAM for a machine that works efficiently and at a reasonable speed.
