use Oracle wallet to connect via node?

I would use an Oracle wallet instead of hard-coding the user ID and the password in my javascript or config files.  I tried to drop the user settings and the login password and simply by using a connection string in this format = "" / @db_alias ", but am not able to connect."  I get an error on the valid username and password.  Has anyone else managed to use a wallet to authenticate with the node module?

I understood that... I activated the external authentication and left the connection to the db_alias without a slash or @.

    Hello

I'm trying to use a printer that connects via USB and he always tells me that it is not a driver? I don't understand what is happening and I think it's a setting that I have on my computer. Can anyone help? Ive went on the website of the printer to download the driver and the im unable too.

    Hello

OEM for the printer manufacturer is responsible for the proper functioning of the printer
and their drivers. Check with the manufacturer of the printer support, their online
documentation and drivers and ask in their forums.

Good luck, you need to update or reinstall the latest driver.

  • SSL encryption using oracle wallet

    Hello

We have a following installation program:

We have mobile solution that is like IPADS and mobile devices for which active SSL connection from end to end is required. The client suggested for Oracle wallet

There is an application server that makes call to the database server that has a stored proc, this stored procedure uses internal DBMS_HHTP that calls the weblogic server. Someone has such or the same type of environment and can they share how they configured and use wallet oracle for this environment.

  • Login Creditials fail for desktop connection remotely using IP local. Connection via the hostname works very well in local intranet

Something happened that broke my remote desktop connection.

System-Win 7 Pro, with enabled Remote Desktop connections. (Static IP, router configured for port before any RDP to this system)

For a few years now, I had access to this system via desktop remote with all the problems. I have connected by using the name of the computer on the local network and have also connected using the public IP address with a problem. Name of user and password for one, way worked fine.

The other day there was a power outage or something, most of my systems was suddenly restarted or turned off, and my router had to be reset. Not sure if this is a coincidence of bad, but now the problem is that connection via the public IP address I get "your credentials did not work" when you try to connect. However, if I connect using the host name within the local chapter of the network of the same name to username/password work very well because they always have.

That's happened. I'm going crazy trying to figure this out. My remote user cannot log on this system.  Help, please!

Thank you for taking the time to answer, it's really appreciated. I could solve the problem. I don't know how, but if finally started working again. I have reset my network card and reset IP address static of the machine, that I tried to connect. And after some back and forth with that, all of a sudden he was still working. I was suspicious that my router was causing the trouble because the login failure was due to the fact that I've been routed to another computer, even if the rules of the if correct port forwarding. I just he blamed on the PC from Gremlins. I'll keep this info for future use. Some how all refreshed and began to work again properly.

  • Oracle-Wallet, something fishy?

    Hi all

    11.2.0.1

Our programs/scripts commands have clear text USERID/PASSWORD embedded in it. COMPUTER audit recommended to use Oracle wallet to store and hide passwords.

Now I configure Oracle wallet to store passwords. For example if I connect to system/manager, I can now connect under sqlplus / @connect1.

Then who would be riskier? Anyone can connect directly as simple as that to the command line, if he or she remembers this connection string?

How can I stop this easier access?

Your comment is very much appreciated.

    Thank you

Batch programs run in a user account specific o/s production (e.g., prod).

The process in this account, has been authenticated somehow for the execution of this account (owner of the executable, owner of batch Scheduler, etc.). In other words, another user cannot run its processes as the user of o/s prod. Thus the prod process are validated and the confidence-building process.

Therefore, it is meaningless to these processes attempt to authenticate with the database.

Which makes sense (as prod is the user o/s of production and a reliable process runs), is the database that you want to trust the user to o/s prod (relegate the authentication of prod and prod process for the core of the o/s).

This is done by creating a schema user in Oracle using external authentication, allowing the prod process create database sessions, without these processes approved and controlled who authenticate themselves - as authentication o/s already done it.

  • Problems with utl_https, Oracle Wallet and firewall

    Hi all
We experiment utl_http and Oracle wallet and try to make a transfer of https, but we are facing some problems. I'd appreciate your help greatly if you can advise on what could be wrong. We are on db version 10.2.0.1 and Unix HP - UX and operate since in a firewall. The intention is a https url ping command and get a 200 simple answer. Future development would include documents XML get/post to this url and other interesting things. I understand that utl_http with Oracle wallet can be used for this purpose.

The portfolio was created and the ewallet.p12 exists. We downloaded the url Web site SSL certificate and downloaded in the portfolio. Everything works if I put in a url with http simple but then things work with a HTTP * S * url. Is what is called HTTPS TUNNELING required because we have a firewall? I don't know what it is or how it can be done.
I tried https with a URL internal breast of the firewall. But again, no luck. -So probably not just a firewall problem.
With HTTPS when I run the code below, I get the following error with https internal or external sites. Yet once, greatly appreciate your time and help because it is the first time us use Oracle wallet manager and don't know where to go from here.

The difference between your method and this new method is that you spend the user_name: pswd as part of the url, so here it is passed as a parameter of the set_proxy.

Using the user name and password in the proxy URL is often the easiest way to deal with authentication of the proxy - even supported under Linux with the environment variable http_proxy (that you can set for s/w to detect which is the proxy configuration, when access to the web).

Would be in him passing a part of set_proxy also be considered as in "clear text"?

Don't know exactly what it generates http traffic. Likely basic auth?

It may seem that some form of "+ encryption +" is done with basic authentication. The user name and password are strung with a colon separator and then encoded in base64. So, the resulting string seems encrypted to the human eye, but can easily be decoded again (no secret necessary to perform decoding).

So this is about as insecure as passing user name and password in clear text - darkening bit added to the meter reading it naked.

In the Windows world (where it is stuck inside and look at the free and open to the outside Standards), proxy servers often use NTLM (new technology/LAN Manager) authentication. Not this again as LanManager goes back to BACK 5 project of the 1980s. ;-)

Anyway, NTLM is a proprietary protocol and not easily supported when you code using UTL_HTTP. Basic authentication will fail in this case, the proxy expects that NTLM authentication. The workaround is to add the user name and password to the URL of the proxy (as I did in this example code).

My problem is why set_authentication does not require us to use methods "unsupported"? It seems an obvious Oracle bug that they must solve.

I think that you also use NTLM authentication on the proxy server? This isn't a standard. It is the crass seller proprietrary. No real compelling reason for other providers to support - especially not when there are open standards available and used.

We have a beautiful SR and you said that you have opened a SR before without success. I'm surprised Oracle is dropping the ball on such a useful tool.

My SR has been essentially around get UTL_HTTP proxy access work with NTLM - where workaround has been as I described. I don't see this as a particular problem, Oracle have to solve.

The question is a consequence of the decision to use proprietary protocols and "+ standards. If anyone is to blame, it's Microsoft and their attempts at blocking of clients in a complete solution of owner. Unfortunately, these attempts often succeed too.

  • Routing connections via a single node in a cluster 2 node RAC

    Hello world

My client has the following requirement: a RAC cluster active/active (for example/node1 node2), but with only one of the nodes being used (node1) and the other sitting there just in case.

For things like services, I'm sure it's pretty simple - just have the value preferred on node1 and available on node 2.

For connections, I guess I'd just the VIP in order in the file of tns, but with LOAD_BALANCING = OFF, so they go through tns entries in the order (ie the node 1 and node 2), then this would allow even the vip failover if node 1 is out of service.

What sounds right? Did I miss something?

    Thank you very much

Why? What is the reason for a node ' + just in case + '- and how and when is "turned on" when this situation of just-in-case?

It is not much any sort of sense of sight high availability or redundancy.

For connections, I guess I'd just the VIP in order in the file of tns, but with LOAD_BALANCING = OFF, so they go through tns entries in the order (ie the node 1 and node 2), then this would allow even the vip failover if node 1 is out of service.

Does not work on 10g - may not work on 11g. The listener can and don't transfer connections, according to what say the TNS connect string. If you do connect not via a SID entry but through a SERVICE entrance, and this service is available on several nodes, you can't (and won't often) be connected to instantiate on only one IP address that you have used in your connection to TNS.

    Basic example:

// note that this TEST-RAC alias refers to a single specific IP of a cluster, and use
    // SERVICE_NAME as the request
    /home/billy> tnsping test-rac

    Used parameter files:
    /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/network/admin/sqlnet.ora

Used TNSNAMES adapter to resolve the alias
    Attempting to contact (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST= 196.1.83.116)(PORT=1521)) (LOAD_BALANCE=no) (CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER=shared)(SERVICE_NAME=myservicename)))
    OK (50 msec)

// now connecting to the cluster using this TEST-RAC TNS alias - and despite we listing a single
// IP in our TNS connection, we are handed off to a different RAC node (as the service is available
    // on all nodes)
// and this also happens despite our TNS connection explicitly requesting no load balancing

So we have connected to the node RAC 196.1.83.116 - and this listener we handed over to node RAC 196.1.83.127. The GR 11 2 earpiece seems to behave differently - it does not have a transfer of work (based on a quick test, I did on a RAC 11.2.0.1) in the above scenario.

This question-how do you deal with just-in-case situation? How do you get the clients to connect to node 2 when node 1 is out of service? Do you rely on the virtual IP address of the node 1 be set on node 2? It's a safe and 100% guaranteed method?

It may take a while (minutes, maybe more) for an address virtual IP switch to another node. Meanwhile, any client using this virtual IP address connection will fail. Is this acceptable?

I don't know - I don't like this concept of your customer to treat the RAC nodes as a sort of database waiting for a situation of just-in-case . I don't see any logic in this approach.

    Hi all

Is it possible to connect to the Oracle (Oracle SQL Developer 4.1.1) database using Oracle Apex 5.0.1 instead of using the object browser. As he was more workspace after you have downloaded the data we have on CSV Excel.

For example: regardless of the tables I've created in the Application Builder is created in the object browser. We have limited the workspace of 500 MB. This is the reason why we cannot use this method to load the data and retrieve it. (Note: can I ask 2 GB of space to work on the approval of the Director, who is still not sufficient)

Is it possible that I will create an apex.oracle.com application by using the application builder and I will create in the database tables. When I load the file in application, data will be stored in the database Oracle instead of the object browser.

Well let me know is possible, if yes, how can I proceed.

If this isn't the case, please let me know how I can get more workspace.

According to my understanding, other possibilities are: 1) taking backup of old files and free up space, 2) create another workspace and get extra work space.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hello

When you load data using APEX SQL Workshop utilities for example, the data is stored in your database tables.

Object browser is just seen tool your schema as the table objects and the data in the tables, just as SQL Developer.

If you have no good reason to keep these files that you downloaded in the workspace, delete those. Data is stored in database tables.

    Kind regards

  • Connection to the remote database using Oracle 11 g Builder

    Hi all

This could me stupid question, but I have installed Oracle Forms and reports 11g on Win 7 machine. I copied the file "tnsnames.ora' on the record ' ORACLE_HOME/Network/Admin". We use Oracle EBS R12 and I want to create a new report using 11 g.

Using the report wizard after providing a simple query, we need to connect to the database. And even after the entry of TNS, I am getting error connecting to the database, following
"REP-0501: the specified database can be connected.
"ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified.

I am able to connect to the same database using the Report Builder (10.1.2.0). Is there another place where I need to set the TNS entry? How can I solve this error? Please guide...

    Kind regards
    Priyanka

    Hello

In forms and reports 11g, default defined in tnsnames.ora is: ORACLE_INSTANCE\config.
Please note that the ORACLE_INSTANCE is not the same as ORACLE_HOME.
    Example:
    ORACLE_HOME = D:\Oracle\Middleware\as_1
    ORACLE_INSTANCE = D:\Oracle\Middleware\instances\asinst_1

If you set the admin TNS_ADMIN variable in the registry, you can point to a new location for tnsnames.ora

    Kind regards

I did everything as it says in the manual (although many things is not well explained and even not included for example the informix database must have a transaction journal...) and I still have a few problems with the connection.

I use oracle database gateway to informix (dg4ifmx).

First of all when I run select * DUAL@dblink I have not a mistake at all, I just get a result X, that is, I realized that everything is well configured in tsnnames, auditor and initdg4ifmx.ora and the link to database.

But when I write a table exist as select name * to enc_grid@dblink, I get this error:

When you look at the trace of the gateway, the gateway that is looking for a table called "ENC_GRID".
Informix tables commonly are case sensitive so please check your select statement, write the table/column names as they are defined in tables/columns Informix datbase and surround names in double quotes.

    For example the enc_grid table contains only letters of less than your Informix database, and then type: select * from 'enc_grid"@dblink;

  • Using Oracle ODBC HS to Sybase get cursors exceeded max

    Oracle 11 g 2

    Linux RHEL 6.5

    -----------------------

When you use Oracle ODBC HS to connect to Sybase via dblink SYB get the following error:

    ORA-01000: cursors open maximum exceeded

    ORA-02063: preceding line of SYB

When you run the same SQL locally, getting no error.  (The same tables in Sybase are replicated in Oracle).

Increased the max sliders and even restarted Oracle - no difference.  SQL on system tables do not show more than 250 sliders in use yet max cursors defined at 2500.

This error above suggests a problem of cursor max with Sybase?  Or something else?

It can also be a problem with the HS_OPEn_CURSORS. By default, the gateway allows only 50 open cursors will be open to the foreign database. What happens when you set in the gateway HS_OPEN_CURSORS init file = 200?

If it fails again, could you upload to a public file share a gateway (HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = DEBUG) DEBUG trace level?
