Use the hard BONE from another PC

Bought new Win8 64-bit desktop PC.  It replaces my old Win7 32 bit Desktop.

Can I remove the hard drive from the old office (it was the Bootup\OS) and install it in the new PC of Win8 as a 2nd HDD internal?

I know that this is not a question if I re - format the old HD Win7.  It contains data on this subject I prefer keep (again, I know that I can transfer the data, Re = Format and transfer back on).   Of course, I would like to remove any software since it will be useless in the new office of Win8.

My concern would be any OS... the Win8 desktop boot sequence would prevent the old HD Win7 boot...

Safely simply install the HD Win7 to Win8 Office as a 2nd drive internal?

You can install it safely as another drive, even if it has an operating system on it.  You could probably not even start up of this hard disk (usually, you can change the boot disks when you turn on your computer by pressing a button, this button varies depending on the manufacturer).

Starting from the old drive can be a little unpredictable, and Windows 7 will probably be you say that it has detected the transplant and no need to repeat the activation of product, so I would probably boot to it if I were you and simply use it to recover your data.

    Hello

No.; If the operating system on the other came computer preinstalled (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.) you can't use it on another PC.

If the laptop/computer came with preinstalled Windows operating system (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.), this product key provided with your computer/laptop to the OEM license preinstalled and is not transferable.

OEM license/product key (systems of operating pre-installed on Dell, HP, etc.) is related to the first machine it is installed on and dies when dies of this machine.

Only retail Operating System license that you buy and install yourself, are allowed to be transferred to another machine.

And retail licenses also can be installed on a machine at one time.

Please say that we can use key bought from other regions (without sealed tag on only for the activation of this region)

for example, if I buy the product in the United States and is not mentioned one any restriction so I will use it in other areas?

    Hello

Some versions of Windows which are bought in geographically limited areas can be activated in this region.

Windows purchased in the USA have no geographic restrictions.

  • Using the HARD drive of a Tecra A4 as a for another laptop external HARD drive.

I have a Toshiba Tecra A4. I want to use the HARD drive as a second hard drive to another laptop, but it seemed to me that the HDD in Tecra A4 has a special bond that does not fit in a standard externel HDD-Bay. Anyone know how I can use the HARD Tecra A4 drive as an external HARD drive?

Subquestion: is it not possible to use a 2.5 "HARD drive normal in a Toshiba Tecra A4?

    Hello

AFAIK Tecra A4 has 2.5 inch HDD inside. But the HARD drive has another connector HARD drive that you can remove. The HARD drive is placed in the HARD drive chassis and fixed with four screws. Remove the screw and the connector. Be very carefully and take it easy.

After that you can use in other laptops.

  • I can't activate my real Vista on 'New' material by using the hard drive of my old hardware

OK, I got a laptop comes pre-loaded with windows Vista and it has got water damage and shorted, the hard drive however is in good working condition. I bought a laptop replacement because I didn't want to be on another computer that someone else would break anyway.

so I bought this used the laptop from a friend that he would use to intnet and games, she had similar specs as my old laptop except the proccessor was different but similar speed and what not. what I want to do is to install the hard drive from my old with Vista genuine in this 'new' computer that has a hard drive in a way smaller and is loaded with XP.

compatible sound and I have already, but it asks me for my product key that I have but it says its wrong (I guess as its headquarters in the old hardware) so is there a way to unregister the old hardware or upgrade my hardware information in order to use my old hard drive and keep my status as a true?

not only is a HDD larger but its quicker and there all my files ive been without for more than a year now and frankly I need it back so bad at this point

    Thank you thank you

Sorry, but versions OEM of Windows Vista cannot be transferred to another computer.  The license is permanently tied to the original computer, it has been installed and activated on. Carey Frisch

The installed system Windows & pilots of this partition recovery and work decently, but all the drivers etc are those of the old emachine and not specific HP system drivers installed. (I don't have the HP recovery discs)

Hello there SeeBryte! : why not look in your device manager, then write down what you see there (here is a list of all devices in your PC and then go to www.google.com or www.bing.com either there is a rectangle where you enter the name of each component once you go to the website of whatever manufactureed component)

    & get your drivers here.

Then, I'd do the same to all of your programs

ultimately I would buy a box of sale at retail of windows 7 or Vista & install it via the clean install (formats again)

    Good luck

  • I want to copy my lightroom catalog and photos of the hard disk to another.

I want to copy my lightroom catalog and photos of the hard disk to another. I tried to use the copy and paste, but when I try to open the catalog on my laptop lightrooom cannot find the photos because he is always looking for them on the old hard drive. How can I get lightroom to get on the new drive? When I try to manually connect the photos they disappear just from any folder, they are in Lightroom.

    Hi Mike Nature.

    Greetings.

As you have already moved the catalog and the files on the hard disk up, visit this link on how to find missing images/files

I suggest you look for missing files.

The images do not disappear, but after the relining, they should be available under the new hard drive.

I'm having a problem with my computer toshiba M645. When I insert my recovery disk its Blanck, but if I used the same disc in another computer I can see the contents inside. I try inserting the disk dvd movies and it will play normally. Please give me help with this problem because I want to get my phone to the sound out of the box state. Thank you.

    Hello

The drive came with the laptop or you did it yourself in the recovery Partition?

And you're supposed to boot from the recovery disc to start the recovery process.

You change the Boot order to make the CD/DVD drive first in the boot order. Then, you start from the disc.

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

And as a way to re - install with most of the Toshibas, you press 0 (zero) to start to start the process of recovery back to settings factory (new State) of the recovery Partition.

Based on your report, you seemed to have changed the motherboard.

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

You can try the phone activation, there is no guarantee:

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    (6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

  • Keyboard shortcut to use the color picker in another application

Hi, I'm new here. My first post.

I remember there was a shortcut in Ps to use the color picker in another application. For example, choose a color from a web browser. I don't remember the keyboard shortcut. Anyone know it?

    Kind regards

You can choose the eyedropper tool, click on your document open in photoshop, and then hold down the left mouse button while you drag out of photoshop to read the colors.

Also works when the adobe color picker dialog box open in photoshop.

  • Qosmio X 500 - 10W - can I replace the HARD drive with another?

    Hello

I have a Qosmio X 500 - 10W with two drive HARD Toshiba MK5055GSX 500 GB 5400 RPM 8 MB? SATA II but is one of the hs so I'm wondering if I can be replaced by a more powerful style, drive HARD 750 GB 7200 RPM / min 16 MB Toshiba courses?

    Thank you

    Hey,.

Your question is a bit hard to understand, but I think you want to replace the HARD drive with another (faster) model, right?

Well, that s no problem. 7200 RPM hard drives works, they are a little stronger, but they're faster so if you need more performance without problem.
750 GB or more are also no problem because the SATA interface is not the limited capacity. Theoretically 1 TB or more should also work.

Anyway, you can buy the 750Go you mentioned that it will work. :)

  • How to use the license acquired from Win 7 cd to be used on my WinXP?

    Windows XP License Activation

I have a copy of Windows XP on my PC where I tried registering online, he says that's not authentic. I bought a copy of Win7 with downgrade rights to Windows XP Pro. How to use the license acquired from Win 7 cd to be used on my WinXP? I could not afford a complete reinstallation because several drivers needed to work on my pc do not work with Win7.

    Thank you!

    Hello Emerson_1

Microsoft does not sell Windows 7 with a downgrade to Windows XP and a valid key. You will need to provide your own key. This option is only available with OEM Windows 7 Professional systems. If you wish to continue using XP you will need 2 keys as indicated by JW.
Windows 7 offers XP mode and you can use it if you have chosen.

    Hello

Check your cable connections. If necessary check with the manufacturer of the motherboard System Support
    and Seagate Support.

Make sure that settings/settings (BIOS/CMOS) often F2 that you start the computer is configured to start at
on the CD/DVD first in the boot order.
