Virus scan problem when programs it then told me I'm not the primary user of the computer and I have to be the computer administrator?
You are the administrator or not? You have the admin password at your disposal? Yes or no, please.
If your answer is 'yes' to any of the above, then go Sfae mode. See if you can run the anti-virus in SafeMode.
How to get in Mode safe?
Restart your computer > immediately and repeatedly tapping the F8 key until you see a black and white screen > top/down arrow and select Safe Mode > login to your account > do the virus scan now.
If you need to use the links, and then select Safe Mode with network just instea Safe Mode.

Both xp pro... dunno why its not working, worked prior to this installation. Same model, same format, reinstall installation routine... not working do not. Help, please
If you have an OEM of XP Pro product key version and a CD of XP Pro retail, which will not work because they must be of the same type of XP Pro.
If both the key product AND the installation CD are for the same type of XP Pro (otherwise, they are all two OEM or they are two retailers), so you just need to be very careful when you enter the 25-character product key, be careful not to confuse an 8 with a B, a 5s etc.

I removed my xp hard drive to another computer and now it says I need to 'enable '.
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/950929/en-us
I removed my xp hard drive to another computer and now it says that I have to 'activate' and when I try, I get a weird response and they all but hang up on me. I used this drive for many years, even the screen shows a picture of my table with flowers in a vase. What is going on? How can I get this problem?Your hard drive, installed on a computer with Windows XP was preinstalled by the computer manufacturer? If this is the case, then you have a "OEM version" of Windows which is linked to the computer first it is installed on and cannot be moved or reinstalled on another computer.
If however you have a "Commercial" of XP version that you bought in a store, then you should be able to activate by phone, be aware that move the drive from one computer to another is more often go to work and XP may have problems (device drivers and other issues). The best solution is a clean installation (after you back up your data files).

I want to move my hard drive from a computer with a motherboard dead to a newer machine. The activation process failed. How can I get the operating system XP Professional sp3 reactive? I have the code original and other info.
original title: Moving the death machine driveHello CarrolScott,
The activation problem arose because the hardware on your current computer does not match that of the hardware on the machine whose mother is dead.
The best option for the reactivation is to use the telephone line. This, unfortunately, is automated and may refuse to turn on your system; However, don't despair just rest on the line after the automated atcivation crossed its procedure and you will be transferred to a real person. Tell this person you've done, and it should be able to help activate.

my laptop is dying, I can move my hard drive to another computer and still use vista coa?
Hello
It depends on the type of license you have, as to whether you can transfer it or not.
Pre-installed Licenses OEM (HP, Acer, etc.) and the Microsoft System Builder OEM licenses are tied to the first machine that they are installed on and channels of license when this machine dies.
OEM licenses are not transferable.
If you have purchased your own license for sale retail of Windows and installed yourself, yes you can transfer it to another computer.
Retail licenses are transferable.
Just be sure that you have only installed on one machine at a time.
A single license means one Installation.
And if it is retail and transfer you, in all likelihood will have to reinstall the operating system, as this disc hard the 'old' aura card mother drivers installed, which will cause starting problems.
See you soon.

I want to install the Commander of the force star wars on my new PC, but says it is not compatible with windows 64-bit. I have try on windows XP mode and it tells me that I need to connect a hardware 3D device. I really love the game and I want to use it again.
Any old copy of Windows XP that could be installed in the host system? If you do not, it should be available at a modest price of an online seller. Perhaps (I'm not too), even an old Windows 98 TO work. The game (using a 3D engine) will not work under pure DOS, so you need a Windows environment so that it can work. Just FYI: If you get this old classic to run, new issues may arise. Known are the "mss32.dll" runtime error (you may need to replace this file with the newer version of SW:KOTOR 1) and the issue of video cutscenes (the games uses an obsolete video codec, Smacker - either you find an old *.) DLLS for it or have you convert movies in a modern format).
In conclusion: get old games to run on software/hardware modern (it is not only a problem of BONE) is one of the most fascinating and rewarding challenges to a real fan. But do not expect it will not be easy "out of the box" (or simply insert a CD).

Once logged into windows, it tells me that I need to activate windows. I click Yes to activate and it tells me that windows is already activated, click OK and it returns me to my log in page over and over. Why? and what to do about it?
Because you are allowed to install and activate Windows on ONE computer and product activation has now determined that you try to use the installation on another computer. If it is a retail version of Windows XP and if you move the installation to new hardware call Microsoft and explain the problem. If it is an OEM version, like a Dell or HP installation and if you move it to another computer that you are to the top of the Creek with this, you are not allowed to move an installation OEM on another computer, it is linked to the computer on which it was sold with and he will die with this computer.

Windows XP start error after access to the hard drive from another computer
Computer laptop Windows XP went bad because of a bad graphics card. Bought a new computer at the same time with Windows 7. Pull the hard drive of the laptop to get the files back. Had to change the permissions to grant access. Now when I try to start the windows XP laptop, I get a "windows cannot load the user's profile but you has logged on with the default profile" and then a "windows Explorer has encountered a problem" appears and I can't do anything with it. When I select 'close' the screen goes gray, then the same message appears. I have to use the Task Manager to restart. I did a repair of my XP install disc and also a system restore and still the same problem. Help!
Also, running service pack 3 before the repair. Now on service pack 2 that I cannot access windows update to get updates.

Make sure the SD card works on other computers.
The card reader is a USB device to ensure that other USB devices work.
Check with HP, their drivers support and documentation online and ask in the forums of HP where it
others will be with the same or similar model. I hope this is just the driver. It is possible that the device has been

You don't need to. Just turn it on normally. If it has been long
rather, activation on the internet will work. Worst case, if
activation of the Internet failure, you will be asked to activate the voice
call. Just follow the instructions; It will be quick and easy.Ken Blake (MS-MVP)

Install a hard drive from another computer
Hello
I have a 400 GB SATA wd which was in my main computer all of a sudden it starts to click and I told us to install it in another computer and down my files.
My second computer has vista home
and I have an installation of sata wd 160 GB
When I put the WD 400 in the vista computer and go into computer disk management management I'm not
what needs to be done to ensure that I get my files on the disk
Hello
You 'slave' it in another computer as a secondary drive. you do not try and run it in another computer as a Bootable drive.
The best and easiest way is to use a "USB hard disk box" > put the hard failure that > plug into the computer to work > try and read from there.
If it is too damaged to read, you may need to contact the data recovery specialists; but they are very expensive.
See you soon.

How can I remove a hard drive from my computer? (not physically)
Hello.
I have problems with my internal hard drive.
It is adding an extra and isn't the one with the operating system. It's pretty mucha disk storage.
I have to remove it and try to replace it. I hope I don't have to re - install the operating system and I can get my new drive recognized under Windows XP. What should I do? Where can I do this? Which must be uninstalled or changed on XP somewhere?
What are the steps? I'll replace it today and the need to know the details, because it is a return.
Thank you.
No, you don't have nothing to do with Device Manager. Or anything else.
Once its removed it will disappear. Then once you install the new hard drive, go to disk management, and then format. So my computer can see it
Only thing to complain, it is if you have been save files to it. Don't worry about this just change the recording folder. Programs have been installed on it tho? There you may as well uninstall them first
