If its licensed OEM System Builder that was never used, Yes. If his license OEM from another computer, no.

As mentioned, the laptop must already include factory restore options that may allow you to reinstall the operating system from scratch.

New computers that come pre-installed with Windows often have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. • Where can I get a Windows 7 Ultimate product key?

Recently, I rebuilt my computer Windows 7 Ultimate, replacing the motherboard and adding a new SSD. I used a product key from one of my other computers to do the installation thinking I will get a new product key later.

Now, I can not find where to buy a new product key Windows 7 Ultimate. I can't install Windows 10, I want to keep my Windows 7 Ultimate.

Where can I get a new product key for Windows 7 Ultimate? Whenever I go to MS I am redirected to a page telling me the wonders of Windows 10, which I don't want.

    Thank you

You should consider a different edition if you can not get Windows 7 Ultimate.

You can find software OEM System Builder of dozens of online merchants. The current price for OEM Windows 7 Professional Newegg, for example, is $ 140. When I checked a few minutes ago, Amazon offered packages OEM Windows 7 Professional from several vendors at prices ranging from $ 101 to $ 150. When I checked earlier, a package specifically designed for reconditioned PCs cost only $ 50 for a 64-bit copy.

Because Windows 7 is in limited stock because Microsoft ended sales in October 2013, this created demand due to its rarity. This means the retail boxed copies request a bonus, while the OEM System Builder copies remain affordable.

    Full version (retail):

-Includes the rights of transfer to another computer.

-Does not require a qualifying earlier version of Windows.

    -Expensive

    Upgrade version (detail):

-Includes the rights of transfer to another computer.

-require a qualifying earlier version of Windows.

-Expensive, but less expensive full version

    OEM System Builder version:

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

There is nothing wrong to use it too, especially that all future versions of Windows will be full versions.

  • A product key from an old computer can be used for vmware fusion on a new mac?

We used to own a Dell computer with windows XP Professional OS. Lately, we have switched all of our Mac computers and no longer use the old windows computer. I have the product key for this OS and I was hoping to use the CD of windows XP on VMware fusion and relocation (in order to play video games). So far, the installation was almost a success until it would not accept the old operating system product key. Is there a way to get a new product key?
PS The only purpose is for the PC games we have.

can I get another free product key? I still have the old computer

you need to know if the old pc had an O E M version of windows, because

windows OEM versions are locked to the motherboard of the PC they where first installed at.

If the product key you have is from a version marketed Windows (non oem) you can install the version on another pc if you take away the first pc.

in other words, a version on a pc at the same time.

You should check with the microsoft Web site dealing with pirated software and product keys.

  • Can I buy online, product key reuse a product key from a laptop computer that I currently use, or if none of these work where can I still buy windows 7 locally?

I recently built my own computer and have ordered windows 7 after amazon order said it would take 2-3 days but then a snowstorm hit and now they say it will take more than 10 days! so I have now cancelled my order. I wonder if I can: buy online re-use, product key a product key from a laptop that I currently use, or if none of them work where can I still buy windows 7 locally. I have already burned the iso to a disc and you want to just windows :(

Original title: the Windows 7 product key

Windows 7 is no longer available locally.

If the windows 7 on your laptop's oem that came from the computer, the answer is no.

If you bought the retail, you already have a key.

You should have kept the order from Amazon. Weather is causing delays of delivery.

  • Can I use a product key Vista Business OEM with retail Vista Business install disc on the original OEM computer?

In fact, I have two questions:

[1] my niece has a HP laptop with a sticker of the OEM Vista Business product key on the bottom. She has no HP restore disks or something like that. The computer was demoted in XP and now there is something wrong and Windows fails to start (goes to blank blue screen with the mouse pointer, no further). According to the test material, the hard drive still works. I have a retail copy of Vista Business. Can I use its product key with my Vista disks professional retail to install Vista on her computer? It is the key to correct OEM, original to this computer product.

If the #1 answer is Yes, is [2] possible to install without erasing its hard drive? Maybe by making an upgrade? She has files out there that are not backed up - mainly music and Word documents. Can I somehow save them because I install Vista?

No, this is not possible. I guess that you don't really want
"retired", and that XP has been installed clean.

and now there is something wrong and that Windows will not start

Something new, or it never does to start XP?

(empty blue screen with the mouse pointer, not go further). According to the test material, the hard drive still works. I have a retail copy of Vista Business. No. an OEM product key does not work with a retail CD. The CD and the
product key must match with respect to retail vs OEM, complete vs.
    Upgrade and family or professional.

Whatever you do, you must first copy the Word documents and music
files from external media: CD, DVD, USB keys, eternal hard drive
etc. Even if could do an upgrade (which you do not have a key for) you
should do it because there is always a risk of losing everything.

  • Can we use this product key on the back of the laptop for the activation and the windows 7 Professional 32-bit to windows 7 Professional 64-bit upgrade?

I have a laptop HP originally shipped with windows 7 32-bit professional. Now I want to upgrade to windows 7 professional 64 bit. I don't have with me installation disk. So I thought that it is possible (and legal) to resume an installation of windows 7 professional 64 bit disc from a friend and use this product key on the back of my laptop computer to activate windows after the installation of 64-bit? I'm a bit confused.

NOTE: This sticker on the laptop has windows 7 pro oa, and a product key to 25 digits (xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx) written on it.

In addition, the product ID in the information system in the control panel is OEM.

Yes, you can use the product key located on the COA sticker with a full retail version or the version upgrade Windows 7 Professional disc.

You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.

Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.

Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.

    http://www.notebooks.com/2009/10/07/using-Windows-easy-transfer-in-Windows-7/

Boot from the DVD 64 bit Windows 7
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)
Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:
The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.
(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  • Can I use my product key to get a vista installation disc sent me to start ona computer broken?

My desktop came with Vista already installed, but after a total crash, I need to start over.  I have no OS on it right now, but I have the official Windows product key.  Can I use this product key to get a physical boot disk?

    Hello

There is no free and legal Vista download

Here are the different ways to reinstall vista

Microsoft provides no DVD of vista for Dell brand name computers Acer etc.

Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

That is to say) the product key from your laptop will work with "ANY" XP CD (OEM or other)

I know that with Win 7 there no difference

I don't want to go there and try - for fear that once the installation started - the hard drive will be formatted and it won't come back!

    Very!

Each version of XP had its own drive and discs were also different between OEM and retail channels.

Some manufacturers also BIOS-locked their discs so that they could not even start running on computers other than their own.

  • How to install windows 8 using an product key OEM (under construction)

Hello everyone. I bought a computer laptop sony vaio about a year ago and he had 8 integrated windows which clrealy means that the product key is embedded in the motherboard. Now the thing is I want to dual boot with ubuntu and use it alongside windows 8.1 (that I've updated 8) and the ubuntu installation went a little worse. When I went to reinstall I erased by mistake my hard drive and all I was left with was an operating system reinstalled ubuntu.  Now I know that the product key for the windows kernel 8 is in my motherboard, so I want to install windows 8 on it, but it seems that there is no way I can get the iso standard for installation. I tried to use the 'upgrade of windows with a single product key' by Microsoft after the extraction of my key by using a program, but it says my key cannot be used to obtain a version of windows.

Im stuck pretty bad here now, and any help would be appreciated. -There should be a solution because after all I don't have a genuine product key-

As you probably know, most of the machines are supplied with recovery disks more, they just put in another partition on the hard drive.  Sometimes, you can get this in now shift while clicking the option restart from the menu of the power.

Given that, most of the manufacturers have prepared with their own solutions. My computer Vaio from Sony has a button of special pinhole that I had to press with a paper clip to enter into recovery mode.  Other manufacturers have other options, some require a USB thumbdrive to enter recovery, or a CD.

At this point, you probably want to contact your manufacturer to find out which method of recovery they use.  I hate to bring bad news, but they'll probably say "why did not a recovery USB disk? (as if someone creates their own set of disks of repair when they receive a new computer).

Help a friend with a Dell laptop (did not have a problem, but wanted to install a pure one)

passing), Dell sent us a free night FedEx ship from a restore CD. The manufacturer of your can be so nice. I know that Sony was not. If the recovery of my Vaio button didn't work, they wanted $60 for a CD!

Anyway, the manufacturer is your best bet, that now, if you don't have a USB self made for recovery.
