Yes, it's a good idea to remove it if you don't plan to use at a later date... Also I suggest that you run the removal tool (Cleanup utility).

Original title: pc restart continually saying met windows critical problem after installing microsoft security databases
Had problems with windows firewall and Defender does not. Removed protector virus blank media like this firewall did not work either. Tried the Fix 4 her. Still would not work. Then tried to install Microsoft Security Essentials. Rang scan and it restarted the pc and I am now in a loop that says "Windows has encountered a critical problem and will restart automaticlaly in one minute. Please save your work now. "Then, it closed its doors, restarts and the same message appears. A also say-connected on the internet also. Help please...
Hello
1. who were the fix - it, you've tried?
2. were you able to successfully install other programs on your computer before this problem?
3. What is the error you received when the Windows Firewall and defender did not work on your computer?
4. you have made no changes to the computer before this problem?
First of all, you must disable the auto reboot system error and then we can check if the problem exists in safe mode or not.
Method 1.
Step 1. Disable automatic reboot to avoid unwanted restarts on system failure.
a. when your computer starts up keep press F8 on your keyboard until you get the Advanced Boot Options screen.
b. now, use the arrow keys, select Disable automatic restart in case of system error and press ENTER.Step 2:
Start your computer in safe mode
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode
Step 3:
If the computer works properly in safe mode, then you can perform a clean boot.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
NOTE: once you are done with the boot, please follow step 7 of article to reset your computer to normal startup.
Method 2:
You can try to uninstall completely, and then re - install Microsoft Security Essentials and check.
You can run the fix - it from the link next.

http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Method 3:
I also suggest that you scan your computer with the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.
The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.
http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspxNote: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.
Note: All data that are infected must be cleaned only by deleting all of the data, which means that there is a risk of data loss.Post back with the results for you help more.

I removed Bitdefender because it slowed my computer down a lot. I then installed Windows Defender and updated and scanned the computer (no problem) and said it was "protect my computer". But the Windows Security Center does not see any antivirus, until I installed Microsoft Security Essentials. Why? And are two antivirus programs now runmning together?
Microsoft Security Essentials need to uninstall Windows Defender when it is installed. If youshould not uninstall via Add/Remove programs. See the following topics:
Windows Defender and Microsoft Security Essentials
I hope this helps.

When you open the e-mail, the arrow cursor has the blue circle that runs continuously. There are some letters lapping on the e-mail page. No old or new emails cannot be opened. Two weeks ago, I installed Microsoft Security Essentials and this problem has been resolved until today; the same problem to access old e-mail is back.
Try to compact and repair the database (www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/). Then in security essentials exclude the eml files of research (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3), because this results in a mismatch between the WinMail database and what is actually in the message store, generating problems such as you see.
See if that fixes the problem. You can also try to remove your e-mail account and then closing and reopening of Winmail opener and then add it again. See www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm for information about the message from WinMail store organization.
