used to install vista SP1

Why Microsoft does not have sp1 then it installs without that we have to jump through hoops?   It allows to install without poop autour with her.   Why we would have to do their work for them?  I don't want a PhD in Microsoft any more than they want a PhD in my company.  Why didn't they get those responsible out of the golf course and solve the problem or find someone who can?  Why Microsoft does not have their company as a business instead of as a hobby?

Hi MIKE: GRAY,

1. what exactly happens when you try to install the SP1 for Windows Vista?

2. you receive messages or error codes?

3 have. what measures you tried to solve the problem?

  • I had problems to install Vista SP1 on different computers 2 Scared of Vista SP1.

I had problems installing Vista SP1 on 2 different computers and have had to reinstall OS and at the same time, after the reinstallation of Vista, Windows update has updated all the updates up to SP1 and I'm afraid to click on it.  I just finished rebuilding my laptop and all important updates and stopped at SP1.  I ran the System Readiness tool update on my desktop and am really GUN-SHY click on SP1.  Is there something else I can look for or take into account before clicking GO?  I was really upset when the laptop was working fine without it and against my instinct clicked on install when Windows update finally offered it.  I was surprised, that he had not come forward.  I have HP Pavilion, AVG and it is on both machines.   On the desktop I had updated SP1 when it first came out, and something zapped my video card and had to install a video card to see what was going on.  Finally I had to buy another HP motherboard.  It was not cheap.  I'm really scared to click on install. And I would like to put into practice what I preach to end-users, but experience twice shot dark me and path of restoration.  Thank you.

I'm back - I'M MY technician.  I support experience dating back to the beginning of the 1990s.  I tried your advice and humiliated.  What I have to lose - I said. If this does not work, I'll reformat and start over.   here goes.

I reformatted, reinstalled OEM in new condition.  Bypassed the Code Purple HP tattoos on their generation, where we replaced the MB that I had.
Uninstalled Norton, installed the Norton remover.
Installed MS Security essentials.   Yet once, I said why not.  try it.
Installed all the updates that Microsoft had to offer.   Have to him. I said.
    It took almost two days.
System has all updates included SP1 and SP and anything withdrew automatic update of Ms.
    Ok.
browser, flash, drivers, software for personal use
    System is being run-
Scanned primary and any secondary t.o.d. after reconnecting them - disconnected for the reformat.

There are other questions which seem to me with ISP but I meet with them, or open a new question.  For now, Vista SP1 and 2 are in.

Oh and if anyone has a HP, which gets a code purple error after entering the process of restoration - Shift and F10 while the purple error code is on the screen and rename files from HP in the form of command prompt to convey this purple code and continue with the installation.  I had to find this info on the site of HP after the first reformat.

and another thing.  I had to take my firewall router a notch to allow download of the Norton removal tool.  Why they still use FTP for one simple download is beyond me.  -

Your first post was unclear: I thought you were trying to install SP1 manually (after downloading the Setup program), not via Windows Update.

When you reinstalled Windows, the free trial of Norton would have also been reinstalled (but not valid, of course). Do you have (1) uninstall the Norton free trial once again and then (2) download/run the Norton Removal Tool before you (3) reinstalled NOD32? [Yes/No]

Remember: you can always open a free support incident. See my previous response.

  • Samba75 USB Modem GPRS/EDGE cannot connect after installing Vista SP1

    Hi all

I have a laptop under Windows Vista Home Premium. I can't connect to the Internet using my right to Samba75 USB GPRS/EDGE modem, once I installed Vista Service Pack 1.

Any idea on how to solve this problem? Because of some network security options has been added by SP1 of Vista who refused to connect me with my modem?

    Kind regards.

    Hi Ken,

    Thanks for the reply.

I found that the services required to support the diap network are some corrupted how (in other words, when you enter Services, you can start/stop/restart the service. all options is disabled). I'm not looking for is the first cause, but I think so. FYI, I already turned off all firewalls including Windows Firewall.

I will fix this by reinstalling a new copy of Vista. Tired of the trousbleshooting.

  • Used to install Vista SP2. error code 800705b 3 error_requires_interactive_windowstation

I now tried installing Vista sp2 several times and get the above error message.

I have Windows Vista Home premium 32-bit with Service Pack 1.

I use Google Chrome as a browser and Kaspersky Internet security as a security suite.

I have a Dell Dimension desktop computer about 6 years now with 1 GB of Ram & AMD Athlon 64 x 2 Dual Core Processor5000 + 2.6 GHz.

Although I am British my windows operating system is in German.

I tried a lot of different options suggested on google and Microsoft.

I tried to install windows update, but that has not worked.

I also downloaded the SP2 and system update readiness tool and tried to install again, which didn't work.

I tried to install in safe mode. I did a clean boot and tried to install.

I checked the registry for the vLight folder see if that was causing the problem, but there was no record vLight.

I downloaded the Microsoft Fixit 50202 but still cannot install.

I hope someone can help. All tips are welcome.

Do you think we (or rather you) will be able to decipher this problem or are - it probably that I have to reinstall Vista and SP1, and then try again to install SP2...

My #1 concern is the fact that your computer has been & still lacks so many updates of security reviews.

    • Support for Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) ended on Tuesday, July 12, 2011. Computers still running Vista SP1 "will no longer updates [i.e., updates published after July 12, 2011 so you're now nearly three 3 years behind on security updates critical!]. from Windows Update"until SP2 has been installed (this will require several prerequisite updates be installed first).

Even if we managed to get SP2 installed, there's a very good chance that one or several updates released since July 12, 2011 will not be able to install.

Then there's the fact that your computer - and the data on it - has been at risk for so long.

Therefore, the only way you can ever trust the computer sescurity again would be of formatting the hard drive - and then do a clean installation of Windows (Vista or Win7).

See the poster in this thread and follow the instructions of (my) WHOLE (to-the-letter & in order! ) to restore your computer to a State safe & functional: http://answers.microsoft.com/thread/c44429fb-3f7c-4646-8529-5a97bb3cd0eb

If you need additional help with the clean install of Vista, please start your own new thread in this forum & advice: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-system

If these procedures are outside your technique "comfort zone" - and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the local computer, reputable and independent (i.e., not a "BigBoxStore") computer repair shop & let them do the work.

Note: The computer must NOT be connected to the internet or local networks (i.e. other computers) in its current state. All your personal data (e.g., banking online & passwords credit card) must be considered at risk, if not already compromised.

Wish I had better news for you.  Good luck!

  • How to install Vista SP1 after that 947366 troubleshooting has failed?

I have Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I want to install SP1 (and, eventually, SP2 before the April deadline, deadline of 2010). I tried the "Windows Update" - it did not work. I downloaded the installation manual - it did not work. I tried searching for an answer in the forum "Install Vista, upgrade and Acivate", and Mick Murphy (Microsoft Partner) referred me to this forum, the forum "Windows Update". This is probably the right forum to deal with SP1 installation problems vis a vis Vista. Could someone please offer some advice on what would be my next step in the installation of Vista SP1 32-bit? To be more precise on the substantive contribution: I met this http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=101139link, which redirects to this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947366and this link 947366 is where I went through resolution 1 to 4 of the resolution in a vain attempt to get SP1 installed on my computer. In other words, I've tried every resolution 1, 2, 3 and 4 and each result is a pop-up window evoking me the 101139 link. ATER each resolution has failed, I reached the bottom of 4 resolution follows her where:

Note If the problem is not resolved, this content cannot help you. So, you might want to visit the Microsoft Web site at the following address:

which of course makes back off the screen of troubleshooting altogether. I tried to call Microsoft and their lines are busy all the time. I hope that someone else has experienced this similar problem. I did much research on Google, nothing helps. I hope someone in "Microsoft answers" can provide a response to my "question of Microsoft." Again, my question is: what should I do to get SP1 is installed if resolution 1 to 4 of the resolution at this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947366 failed? The above is the most accurate description of the problem that I can provide, including the specific error codes and I have already taken measures. Please please please help!

    Thank you!

    Paulbyl,
I suggest that you first run the disk error check and make sure your player is no problem.  Then, run the System File Checker to check for problems with the system files.  If he can find and correct and rerun the System Update tool .  At this point, you must perform a clean boot , and then try to start the installation of stand alone for SP1.

If SFC finds issues it cannot fix you will need to perform an inplace of Vista upgrade.  Follow the steps described in this article.

  • Install Vista SP1/upgraded to Windows 7

I tried to update this Dell XPS 410 (2 GB) for Win 7 for three days now without success.

When I started, I ran the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, who said that I had to install Service Pack 1.  I tried, but couldn't.  Just to be sure I wasn't facing some old screw ups, I did a clean install of Vista Home Premium (which came with the computer) and installed all the Windows Update says updates are available without errors.  I think it was around 104.  Curiously, that does not include SP1.

Then I downloaded and tried to install SP1.  I get this error when I do: "an internal error occurred during the installation of the service pack. Error code: 0x007000D.  See http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=101139. "

I went to this webpage (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947366#readiness) and have gone through the steps.

    1. He recommended to download the stand-alone package for the update and trying to install that.  I did this and got the above error.
    2. It is recommended that download and run the system update readiness tool.  I did that (it took more than two hours!), restarted the computer and tried again to install SP1.  I got the same error.
    3. She recommended to close all applications and try to install SP1 - I had nothing else running while this was accomplished in step 2.
    4. At this point, he said "If your problem is still not resolved, you can try the steps of troubleshooting on your own, or you can contact Microsoft technical support.".  I don't know how to contact Microsoft technical support, so I'm here.

I am only running Microsoft Security Essentials; I guess that would not get in the way, but I've disabled real-time protection and tried to install - same error.

I'm about at the end of the things that I know to try.  How can I get Windows 7 installed?  I have three computers (almost) identical and installed Win 7 on the first without any difficulty.  Took about two hours.

Can anyone help?  I need all three of them on Win 7 as soon as possible.    It's frustrating to have so much wrong.

The machine looks good all other ways.  He has installed Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and some third-party software, HP printer, and an another USB device.  I did a chkdsk - weather.  I have installed Dell Support Center: it checks the material and the machine passes all the tests.

Assistance would be appreciated.  A way to circumvent the requirement of SP1 and install Win 7 anyway?

I [was] trying to install SP1 manually, because it has not offered by Windows Update...

There are all sorts of reasons that Vista SP1 was not offered through Windows Update so far. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948343.
