used to sync my iPod to my iTunes library

Hello.  I have an iPod of the old school of 2006 (Version 1.3?) that will not sync my iTunes.  The MacBook that I try to do it on is pretty old too (2009), but there El Capitan Version 10.11.2 installed on it, and my iTunes is up to date, too.  The iPod is recognized by the computer and iTunes, but when I click on the "Sync" button in the section of iTunes iPod my iPod is plugged it just flashes "Sync iPod" very briefly and then comes back to do what he was doing before (absolutely nothing).  I've ejected my iPod and looked at what is on it after what has happened, and there is no new music in this regard.

Please tell me what I can do to solve this problem.  I tried looking for other forum posts to this topic, but I can't find anything that helped me to solve this problem.  I also don't have a USB cable for brand Mac more, but I never had problems with that that I am using until tonight when I tried to sync my iPod.  Maybe it's the first time I tried to sync my iPod since download El Capitan, so maybe that has something to do with it (as a problem of compatibility or something)?  Thank you.

It should work.  Even my old 3rd Gen iPod in 2003 still works fine with the latest OS X and iTunes.  Since the iPod appears in iTunes, docking Cable probably OK also.

The most likely reason for the synchronization of not is that music from the iPod settings screen is not defined.  So, when you click sync, nothing syncs.  Select the iPod in iTunes (click on iPod the device button on the horizontal bar) to see the setting of the iPod screen in the iTunes window.  The side left (in the sidebar), under settings, click music.  To the right, you will see a settings screen of the iPod music , where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.

NOTE: All of the songs on the iPod that are not in your iTunes library (on computer) will be lost.

At the top of the window, check the box to Sync music.  This enables auto-sync to the music.  Below, if your music library is on the iPod, choose the option synchronize entire music library.  At the bottom, click apply.  Further, iTunes syncs any changes in your music library on iPod automatically, when you connect the iPod (or click sync , if already connected).  If your music library does not fit on the iPod, you can choose the option to synchronize playlists, artists, albums, and genres; Make your choice from the lists below.

  • IPod Classic (and iTunes library) from Windows to Mac

Hey ppl, can someone help me with this one?
My iPod Classic was initially connected to a PC, because I didn't have a Mac at the time. But I an and for a long time, and now I'm about to get a second.
I was put in place with the PC mostly because my iTunes library has nearly 500 stored cd and I use my iMac only for work, I didn't want to fill his 500 GB drive with iTunes library. But now that I'm about to take my work to a new Mac, I thought that it was time to move my iTunes library to Mac, and I did it with the help of an external hard drive.

Now, everything is ok with iTunes on Mac all the CDs and the works of art and library moved nicely.

But when I connected the iPod it syncs ok, but does not receive a new cd that I just uploaded on the Mac.

I have noticed that an already existing CD which I modified the work on the Mac, sync ok for the iPod, but not the new CD. The CD is an original, not a copy.
I think it has to do with the iPod having been registered to another computer. I allow them the Mac, but still the CD is not transferred to the iPod.
I want to get rid of my PC, but I need the iPod to work with the Mac.
Can someone tell me what I'm missing, or doing wrong?
    Thank you

OK, that's fine.  So, just what is currently on the iPod is already in your new library iTunes, correct?

When you start with a new iTunes library and add your existing content, the iPod sees it as a new iTunes library, not the old one that was previously used to synchronize the iPod.  The partners from iPod to your new iTunes library and the Tower WE Auto Sync, follow these steps...

Select the iPod in iTunes (click on its button on the device on the horizontal bar) to display the parameters of the iPod in the iTunes window.  The side left (in the sidebar), under settings, click music.  Settings of music from the iPod screen is shown at right.

NOTE: All iPod songs that are not in your iTunes library will be lost.

Check the box to Sync music.  This turns ON Auto Sync (and associate the iPod to your new iTunes library).  If your library complete iTunes music can fit on iPod, choose the option to synchronize the entire music library.  Click apply.

On a separate note, since you started with a new iTunes library, you have added all your content to your backup, but you probably do not have the additional data (such as playlists, ratings, play head, date added, etc.).  Depending on how you have saved your iTunes data, it may be possible to restore your full (not only your media) iTunes library.  You need to be good with the help of your new iTunes library, but if you want more information, thanks for posting back. »

  • Using an external hard drive to my itunes library?

Here's my problem...  I just got a new laptop with a disc ssd 256 GB, my itunes library is well over 150 GB.  I don't want to take the majority of my hard drive to my itunes library, so I want to keep the library on my external hard drive, music via itunes on my laptop without copying it to the wire to the laptop HD.

    Is this possible?

I went into preferences / advanced and changed the itunes media folder location to the file path for the external HD and it did not work.

    Any other suggestions?

  • problem syncing iPod touch with iTunes

Hi, I had a problem syncing my iPod touch with iTunes. I get a message indicating that there is not enough free space to hold items in the iTunes library, which indicates that I need about 43 GB.

I tried to take as much data on my laptop thinking it would make more space available to my iTunes library which is held on my laptop.

I had a problem some time with the storage of data files and program files. I divide the hard drive and I have a Macintosh HD 2, but also a main drive of the HD. I find that I have an iTunes library in two HD players, so I think I have a duplicate library.

My iTunes app shows that I have a size of music library of-33,40 GB containing elements of 6940. My iPod touch has 6920 songs and 33 videos, 15 photos, 14 applications. The ability of the iPod touch is 56.4 GB, with 2.8 GB available.

If the problem is the duplication of library, can I remove in double track of the HD2, and how to change tp parameters to stop duplication.

Duplication of audio content seems to be a concern for you. If you have a desktop Mac, open iTunes/library/display the duplicate items. You can view and edit tracks easily.

If you do not have a Mac desktop computer, the question is a bit tricky; There is no way to detect mp3 duplicates except manually.

The good news is that the majority of your data bloat is likely to be in the 33 videos. I could most of the videos of archives and see what happens. (I have banned all THE videos of my iPod Touch and I couldn't believe how much I got space).

  • do not sync to ipod songs purchased

I recently bought a new ipod and I was able to transfer all my itunes library outside my songs bought on itunes top. I authorized the computer but it still always tells me that this is not allowed and won't let me not sync them to my new ipod. Please help me.

Is it possible that you used another Apple ID to buy songs that are used to synchronize?  These songs are probably more old purchases, because iTunes Store did not use DRM (copy protection) on the music files since 2009.  So, maybe you had an old Apple ID back then you are not currently using...

You can check by selecting one of the songs (which doesn't sync to the iPod) in your iTunes library.  Right click it and get the information.  On the information window, go to the file tab.  It should show the purchased by here.  What is the Apple ID, allows you to authorize the computer?

If this isn't the case, you must use the command allow this computer again and enrolled her other identifying Apple (and its password).  A computer can be allowed with several identifiers of Apple.

  • Import files from iPod to new iTunes

I want to synchronize the music that is on my iPod in my iTunes library on my new macbook. the only option I can see will delete all my music on my iPod. The only thing I could do is to sync the purchased music, but not the rest.

By design, iTunes sync is generally in one direction, from iTunes to iPod library.  You can't use iTunes to transfer files from iPod to computer song (except that you noted).  However, you can use a method of third-party or a utility to transfer files from iPod to computer song.  If you do an Internet search on something like 'ipod music transfer', you should get a few useful links, including a CNET article on the subject.

If your old computer is always accessible, with its iTunes library intact, the well best way to transfer your iTunes complete library, with all media and data to support (for example playlists, play account, ratings, date added, etc), is to copy your iTunes directly folder from your old computer to your new MacBook.  If possible, you can post back for further information.

  • Setting up an external hard drive to the iTunes library

    Hello world

Drive hard internal 1 TB of my iMac is near capacity because of my growing iTunes library of music and movies.

To revitalize the iMac that I am eager to free up space, install a new SSD and examine the possibility of moving my iTunes library on an external hard drive to save storage space.

Here are some questions that I came with:

    1. Is it pretty easy to transfer my existing library on a hard drive external?
    2. It would be a stable and preferred solution?
    3. When you import, choose 'Copy to iTunes' preferences?
    4. Can I use my 2 TB Apple AirPort Extreme as the new destination of my iTunes library?
    5. Can I use Time Machine to back up the iTunes library on the new drive external hard or if it uses the spare wheel on the AirPort Extreme?

    Thanks in advance!

    1. Yes. Drag the entire library on the external drive, launch iTunes with down option and select it.

    2. Yes, but see #4.

    3. allow the same all the other parameters.

4 n ° your working data and backups must be on separate drives in case one of them goes down.

    5. Yes, if he is on a drive to Mac OS extended (journaled) format. Time Machine doesn't backup disk inside a Time Capsule.

  • ITunes library don't sync all the library on my iPod Classic 5th

Hi all. My iTunes library is not synchronized all the library on my iPod Classic 5th. The library contains 8136 songs, iPod displays only 8120 songs after synchronization.

I hope you can help me.

    Thank you.

Some items in your library iTunes music are not in fact the songs.  For example, some albums that buy you on the iTunes Store come with a "booklet".   This isn't a song, so it does not sync to the iPod.  In addition, your library iTunes music can have music videos.  Depending on your synchronization settings (and your iPod model), music videos may not sync.  So, if you use the number of 'elements' displayed at the bottom of the iTunes window to compare, is not necessarily equal to the number of songs on the iPod.

Songs must be stored locally on your disk to synchronize with your iPod.  It is possible for songs purchased from the iTunes Store will appear in your library iTunes music from Apple servers ("iCloud"), even if you do not subscribe to Match iTunes or Apple's music.  To check, show your iTunes music library using the view of songs , the show as a list of simple songs with columns.  Bring up the column to iCloud download , if currently hidden.  This column is narrow with a cloud symbol as his Cape.  (Right-click on the header row in the list of songs to show/hide columns.)  Songs that are not stored locally have a symbol of the cloud with the down arrow in the column download iCloud .  These songs are visible of the iCloudand does not sync to the iPod (except if downloaded).

If you subscribe to Apple music, download music from Apple (in your iTunes library) are written (not possessed) songs.  Downloads of music Apple cannot be used with iPod (except iPod touch).

Also, look on the recapitulation of the iPod settings screen in iTunes to see if the sync only checked songs [and videos] option is checked.  If this is the case, the songs that are disabled in your music library iTunes do not sync.

  • Try to sync the music from iPod to iTunes library

I had to put a new hard drive in my computer, I so had to reinstall iTunes and basically start from scratch.  I have 757 songs on my iPod that I'm moving to my iTunes library so I can play the songs in iTunes.  What's weird, it's iTunes recognizes my iPod and shows the 757 songs with the title "On My Device", but it does not show the songs in the 'My music' library, which is the way I put it in place previously until I changed the hard drive.  I tried to hit the sync button, who has always worked in the past, and nothing happens.

Does anyone have advice on how I could do this?  I've been playing with it for 3 hours trying to figure it out, and I'm so frustrated.
