  Changing the iTunes media folder location setting affects only where new additions to your library will be stored.  To use a disk external drive to store your library complete (and assuming that you have access to the original data of the library on an old computer) you must copy the iTunes folder, by default in C:\Users\username\Music, on the external drive - structure library and its records should be like this:

  I'm trying to reloaded files etc. from an external hard drive to my laptop. I took the files of my old office that was on is way out, so just in case I lost them all I copied them. I tried setting up my external hard drive and transfer just a couple of files just to see if it would work. I sent them to my desktop from my laptop and they also went to my documents, but once the hard drive is disconnected files will not open. I do not know what I'm dong wrong as I am not very computor spirit, so that the answers would be useful in silly English thank you. Sorry to be so long-winded.

  I understand that you have copied your files on an external drive from your old computer.

  You tried to copy the files to the new computer, but when you disconnect the external hard drive the files are no longer accessible.

  I think that you have created or copied a shortcut to the new computer and not the actual files.  When you're logged out outside the new computer had more disk access to open files.

  I would like to redo the copy and when you finished externally, log out and then try again.

  Looks like you want to make a backup during import. If this is the case, you can designate a different location for a second copy when importing.

  

  1. Check the mark a second copy of box in the management of the files Panel and choose your external drive in the menu drop-down
  2. Then you set regular destination of Lightroom in the Destination panel.

  You will need to use a full copy of Windows XP.  Should be a sticker with the product key on the side of your desk or below if it is a laptop.

  Once you have this drive, you can reinstall Windows XP.  After you have installed all the software and drivers, you will be able to transfer all your data to the new HARD drive.

  If you don't have a copy of Windows XP, you can probably get a copy of the recovery from the manufacturing of computer media.  Just to provide the model and serial number and they should sent it.

  You have backups of your photos and files of catalog on another disc? If so, you can physically take the backup HD and install it in the new computer.   I wanted to make a clone of my HD, because it started acting weird lately and decided not to make a clone of it when I get a new HD, but when I use ccc I select my boot drive (the one doubtful), then my drive external usb (2 TB) as my destination and copy everything BUT after 4 hours no progress but 4 points work but nothing is transferred. I formatted the external hard drive as it should be set to format less 10.8 in disk utility. So what I'm doing wrong here? Is there an easy way to do it? I think that I have V. 3.5 ccc, y at - it a bug with this version? BTW, my external hard drive is a USB 3 but compatible for 2 and my mac has no problem reading and writing to it. Any help with this or other means or programs to clone my drive is welcome.

  Have you checked for an update of the CCC?

  Have you considered Time machine? You can restore from that.

  Follow the steps to solve the problem:

  a. click Start, click run, type regedit and then click OK.

  b. look for, and then click the following registry subkey:

  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters

  c. click Edit, point to newand then click DWORD value.

  d. Type IRPStackSize, and then press ENTER to name the value.

  Note Type IRPStackSize exactly as it is displayed. The value name is case-sensitive.

  e. click Editand then click Edit.

  f. in the value data box, type the appropriate value for the network, and then click OK.

  If the problem persists after you complete this procedure, increase the value of IRPStackSize even more.
