User account and logon

I really do not understand how to turn on my computer and connect with my own custom settings.  Someone has posted a response to my question about how to change the image of the lock screen saying I need to create a "specific User Account."  There is no such thing.

When I turn on my computer from SLEEP mode, the custom image is there on the lock screen, but this isn't when I restart the computer turned OFF.

Please tell me how to connect to my Windows 8 and please use the current terminology.
Thank you!

Hi A Luddite Semi,

How many user accounts you have on your computer?

Specific user account means that each user account can be set to show the locked screen image different snacks you have several user account.

Do you mean the locked screen image when you try to connect to the same user to change account?

Press the Windows key + L to display the screen lock and you should see your custom image set.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Hello

I'll post a thread on how to manage the user accounts and Parental control in Windows 8.

A user account allows you to connect to Windows 8. By default, your computer already has a user account that you have been
needed to create when you configure Windows 8. If you want to share your computer, you can create a separate for each Member of your household or office user account. You can also choose to associate any user account with a Microsoft account. Signature with a Microsoft account will bring all your SkyDrive files, contacts and more in the start screen. You can even connect to another computer that has Windows 8 and all your important files will be there.

Here is a video on how to manage the user accounts and Parental control in Windows 8.

Also, here is a document showing you how to manager Our user on Windows 8.

  • Corruption, massive in almost all of the network services user account and firewall Windows

Win 7 Pro SP 1. An account with administrator privileges. Domestic wireless access to a router; D-link devices. System was working fine until about seven 2 (and I pointed out some Windows updates installed September 1, but don't think it's relevant). Computer users allege no unusual behavior on their part Analyses of viruses from Windows Defender and Avast free were clear. Restoring from a previous restore point (two different ones) has not solved the problem - the restore points were date known system OK. Corruption has been maintained despite the restorations (worked and failed).

A complaint that has lost network access. On the survey, found that all these symptoms mentioned below, and no doubt other symptoms exist that I am not aware of. The solution was to create a new user account, and which restored massive configuration problems.

    Symptoms:

1 Windows Firewall could not turn on. Yes, I looked at the KBs regarding this issue (basic dependencies does not and so on) and tried individual hotfixes from the KB, without success.

    2. in the network sharing Center, there was no display of the usual icons at the top of this window. Those who show the personal computer connected to the router connected to the internet. Error message displayed re no dependence of base.

    3. it is possible to send signals between the USB wireless device on the computer and the wireless router. In the task area, the Windows message was 'limited connectivity', something like that. It was possible to connect and disconnect using this facility. But no internet access, notes.

    4. the resolution of the problems would not be executed. The message was that political diagnostics are not running. All attempts to start this service (with its two assistance services) has failed. Tried the individual patches of the relevant KB (wearing mostly on change permissions in the registry at some points), which failed.

    5. in addition, the Dhcp client service would not be executed. Once again, among the KBs tried the proposed fix on the permissions change, which failed. (Omitted in the sense that I could not always start the service; editing the registry was fine).

    5. firewall KB contained a file "beats" that you can create and run, I did, and another had similar commands (start and stop some services) that could be run in a command window. Both failed on some services - especially Mspsvc (Microsoft protection Service) - Although the success was shown to other services.

    6. when I created a new user profile, I re-entered the registry permissions in some of these places just to see what was different. In the damaged user profile, what was missing, it was the standard system of services (about 3 or 4 of them; things like the name of Dhcp). What showed was the News user account (for the specific user account; administrator; and two more points).

Telling me that something has released a complete subsystem or three. Never seen this behaviour before.

Would be nice to have an idea where to look for a fix / restore procedure.

    Hello

Thank you for providing us with brief information on the specific issue that you are facing the computer.

I would like to know, have you been able to access the network on the new user profile?

As you have tried several steps including the change of permission for the registry value and run the batch file, I would ask to perform Scan SFC.

System File Checker is a Windows utility that allows users to find corruptions in Windows system files and restore the damaged files.

For more information on how to scan SFC, please see the Microsoft Support Article below.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

Let us know the results of the SFC Scan, so that we can help you further.

  • Address bar works on a user account and not on the other

    Hello

I searched on through so many forums to find an answer to my problem - it is perhaps quite unique.

A year ago, stopped my firefox address bar AutoComplete works not at all. I have the latest version and I tried all the stuff around dumping cache etc. Anyway, I got a new Mac yesterday and I opened Firefox and everything worked as it should - great.

However, I moved all my files/settings/applications etc in front of my ole mac via migration assistant and now firefox is not working properly on this user account. So, I have two user accounts on the same mac, both running the same software applications. The user account with all the old files etc is that I want to continue to use, but Firefox will not properly work on this subject.

I uninstalled and reinstalled, updated, deleted version cache... all I can think.

I'm sick of Chrome crashing on me.

    Can anyone help?

This may be a problem with the places.sqlite file that stores the bookmarks and history.

  • User accounts and administrator

I have re-installed Windows XP Prof and created a 'User' account to use on a daily basis. The majority of the programs installed, but both programs are not installed (However, their setup.exe files are in the right folder).

By installing programs again (when they already exist in the account 'Administrator') face double the size of file on the space of hard drive, is it just 'copy' the additional program without occupying additional disk space or am I misunderstood something?

Of course I won't be able to explain the shortcuts and other nuances.

Uninstall the program under each account.

    Reset.

Check the free space on the C drive (note it.)

    Install under the same account.

Check the free space on the C drive (note it.)

    Reset.

    Install under a different account.

Check the free space on the C drive (note it.)

    Compare the three digits.

Your question is better suited to manufacturers of applications.  How they install / where they install is totally under THEIR control.  Perhaps the 'setup', you saw for Kingsoft was simply to copy specific things in the new user profile in use for customization of this user, or maybe it really is installed in all records profile of this specific user every time: no idea - it is not a Microsoft product, and Microsoft has no say on how or where they set up almost anything.

My fiance's brother thought he was doing us a favor of the deletion of a user account that we use too often.  I always use it because it has pictures on what we use a main user account is not.  I am panicing because I fear that these photos were lost.  Is there a way I can restore it?

External USB hard disks costing less than USD 90 for 1.5 TB or more - I do not understand how people lose data these days.

You * might * be able to recover all or part of the files by using an application like Recuva (it's a link, it's free, do not buy anything).

Because you posted in Windows XP - Start searching files in C:\Documents and Settings\ - in particular directory from the old username (which was probably completely deleted.

The machine is used, less you will recover anything.

Whatever the results - I suggest buy you a form any external backup and schedule a periodic and consistent backup that you can go in situations like this.
