user/appdata/local files

What are the files that are in my user/appdata/local file whose names are a string in parentheses? It shows no size but they are large and filling to the top of my hard drive. Seems to be more every day.

{76D695SE - 440B - 40 c 1-AF29 + CB0F93E15659} is an example.

Thank you.

Like these?

If so, open each one. The folders are empty?

If so, remove them.

No, it is not a matter of winning 8. I show you the screenshot of my Windows 7 computer.

The jury is still on 'why' what's going on. Some have suggested that it has something to do with Windows Live Mail. Some have suggested that this has to do with MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials).

There is no evidence concrete one way or another.

Only thing, that's for sure... it is safe to delete. I have to delete manually every now and then. At the same time, I had 35 of them under local.

  • Installation file error - windows cannot find ' C:\Users\---\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE\PDapp\core\... \D6\... \D...\setup.exe'

Whenever I try to install an adobe application, I get to the menu where you select the programs to install and install the location of the folder and when I click on 'install' an error saying "Windows cannot find ' C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE\PDapp\core\... \D6\... \D...\setup.exe'".

(I had a problem with windows 10 where it does not recognize the file extension in the file name, so if I could find the file, I might be able to solve the problem by renaming it to "setup.exe", but there is no such thing as the folder/file in question)

  • C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\VirtualStore this issue is close to 100 GB. I have no space on my hard drive. Yet on my other pc, this folder is empty.

Hello.  I have 2 pc.s. both with vista home premium installed. they do not have the same programs installed. the path of the problem folder is the following. C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\VirtualStore. on my laptop, this folder is absolutely empty. on the desktop the virtualstore folder is big close to 100 GB. that totally filled my hard drive. is it possible to disable this folder safely, so I can free up space on my hard drive

    Hello, maveric8673

    Do you recognize the files?
If there are files that you saved in a specific program in the folder?

It is usually more old programs will try to save files / settings to a location requiring the administration of rights which translates the writing files in the folder Windows virtualstore. A marker is also created so that if the program accesses this file again, it will point to the file in the virtualstore folder. If you use an older or not designed for Vista program and its economy at this place, try to update the program.

According to the files, removing items from the folder may affect programs, but yes, you should remove them manually.

    Hello

I suggest that you try the methods mentioned below and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

You can also perform a complete analysis of the system using Microsoft Safety scanner and check if that detects and deletes the virus/malware from your computer.

    Microsoft safety scanner

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

    Note:

The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    Method 2:

    Perform a clean boot.

Put your boot system helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. If so, you need to maybe contact the manufacturer of the program for updates or uninstall and reinstall the program.

See the following article in the Microsoft KB for more information on how to solve a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:

  • Write and read data from the user's local file system

    Hello

I write my first extension for dreamweaver. My extension should backup the data on the local file system of the user. I know that I can use DWfile.read () and DWfile.write () as described in Chapter 2 of the Dreamweaver API reference. I store the data using the XML format. What is the best way to read and parse the XML data in the file? What is the best way to write the XML data in the file?

If you recommend one format other than XML, I'm open to suggestions. The data are only a few configuration information for the extension which should be persisted.

    Thank you

    mitzy_kitty

How will the data be used? If it is used by JavaScript, use JSON format which includes js. If you use XML, then you will need to find an XML parser to read the data.

  • What is Akamai NetSession customer (users\**\appdata\local\akamai\netsession_win.exe and it's OK to grant access to the network?)

My mobile provider sent a notice to update my BIOS software, I did.  During automatic reboot, I got a security alert Windows, informing them that Windows Firewall has blocked some features of Akamai NetSession Client on public and provate networks... Allow client to communicate over public and private networks Akamai NetSessin?

Akamai don't come right out and say, but the reason that netsession is installed on your computer is to allow them to use your computer to 'upstream' content to other users.  By installing NetSession, you allow Akamai use your idle bandwidth to transfer files to other users of Akamai.

Some of the statements of Detangling: http://www.akamai.com/html/solutions/client_design_principles.html

"The information that Akamai capture are similar to a web server, and that the information is only used for troubleshooting and monitoring of network performance."  This means that NetSession sends continuously information on your computer to Akamai.
They say that NetSession will use your computer when it is "inactive or use minimum network resources.".  This means that NetSession is constantly monitor your use of the network and transmit this information to Akamai.  And as bandwidth varies from second to second, this info should be sent upwards to Akamai a lot.  Wait a minute, didn't they say just they captured only the kind of info that capture web servers?  Web servers capture information about the use of bandwidth.  What other information Akamai capture?  I couldn't find details on their site.
So if you install NetSession, you be to join a peer-to-peer network and allowing Akamai send files from your computer at the time as Akamai may use you your minimum bandwidth.
I also have a problem of security on the files I get the NetSession.  It seems that it is not difficult to download a file using NetSession, change it to carry a load of viruses and then leave the computer idle and wait NetSession transmit the file infected others NetSession.  I hope that Akamai has taken measures to address this problem, but I can't find any information on it.

  • Users /(user name)/AppData/Local/Temp

    Greetings,

I'm trying to better understand the purpose of this particular Temp folder (usersTemp under Vista (ultimate).  Specifically, it operations, functional routines, application of the related activities, or other executions file would put files in this folder?  The question is asked by finding this Temp folder that is populated by a lot of Microsoft Word and PDF files that were created a long time ago and have resided largely intact in the original "saved in ' repertoire since then.  They are sensitive files and I want to understand what may have caused them can be completely copied to this folder.  (I'm a computer operating relatively new for which application all files were transferred from the old system running XP and earlier version of Office Pro.   The file transfer process went well with all paper, folders, files, and directories organized and working on the new system, as they had it on a prerequisite.  The files in Temp folder in question were created on old system years ago month.)  If some could refer to reliable, applicable information resources, that might be useful as well - in addition to any direct response to the motion may be possible.

    Thank you-

    Sincerely,

    Howard

    Description: Temp folder
    Location: C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Temp
Why you be interested: many programs are in need of a safe place, where the user has permissions, to generate temporary data. This is the place to look. They may have wiped/grater the main file, but there may be a version in this directory according to the application works.
Entered by: Irongeek, but thanks to Nir.

Information appears in this issue most often when a program crashes and parts of open files are placed in this directory - it is very large, then you can have a lot of accidents.

What are the dates on the temporary files and are they complete files or only the fragments of files (you can tell by trying to open them and see if they if they have valid file types)?  They occurred around the same time or they occurred over a long period of time?

I do not know why these files seems suddenly in the temp folder if they have not been used in 10 years - I see nothing in Vista that would cause that to happen automatically.  Maybe someone actually did open without your knowledge (even though it will have to be an admin to access the source files, unless they know your user name and password).

Open the folder Documents (the source of these sensitive files) and click on the title bar and then click more.  Check the Date of consultation.  Check Date of visit.  Check the last time.  Then go through the files to see this information on them to see if they have been recently accessed in these ways (you can delete the columns once you are finished).  If the dates are old, chances are good that they are not open (which should make you feel better, but why they appear in the confosing especially temp folder).  Are that they all the same type of file (as all .doc files) - if so, what file type and if not what types of files are involved?  Maybe something is happening with the program that created (is Microsot Word?) because of this activity (although I can't imagine what it is maybe).

Make periodic backups, including these source files?  It is possible that the backup process is originally this activity (although I frankly never heard of this before and it would be a big surprise).

Here is a link to a search engine Bing on "Appdata/Local/Temp" which can be a help to http://www.bing.com/search?q=Appdata%2FLocal%2FTemp&first=1&FORM=PERE (I it used to get some information here).

I don't know if I answered your question - I think I have got approached in some areas but missed a few aspectis of your questions.  Be specific if you want information.

    I hope this helps.
