I'm probably not explaining my problem fairly - well, I scanned something in - I used Nuance Paperport.  I have it attached to an email and sent to six people - including myself.  I always open the attached file to make sure that the computer has sent the right thing.  When I tried to open the attachment I got the message "cannot open the file - I have already sent you."  I think that Norton Security got rid of the file I need.  I think I will contact them.  I tried to contact Nuance - but alas, my warranty has expired, so no help there unless I want to pay for it.  If I can't have the problem solved through Norton, I will contact you again.  Thank you very much for taking the time to try to help me.  Have a great Thanksgiving action!

Your explanation was nice... that was my answer that failed.

I was hoping that you would simply copy the scan of your temporary
Internet files folder and paste it on your desktop. Then you might
evaluate what is the problem. I thought that trying to open
with such a long way email could be a problem. And also... it's possible
be a file association problem. And it could be a matter of file size.

I understand that you care why the attachment to the email
failure and I think you need to find what is the problem with the scan
    before fastening will be successful.

The error after I try to open a WMV file in an email shows the above that "the parameter is incorrect" and I can't open the wmv file.

Check the suggestions in discussions below:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows_xp-desktop/cant-open-WMV-files/e33f0e01-E838-483f-8E6F-7098b643592f

You can also check what type of file has .wmv files.
Go to the control panel. Click default programs.
Click associate a file or Protocol with a specific program type.
Highlight .wmv and see what kind of program is to open these types of files.
By default, there are Windows Media Player.

If it's another program, change to Windows Media Player and then try again to open the .wmv files.

    Help, please.

    Hi David,

    1. are you trying to open the file using open with and choose Winzip?

    2. have you already download the file using Internet Explorer?

    3. what version of Windows operating system do you use?

This can occur if the location of the temporary file is missing or damaged.

If you have downloaded the file, and then try to re - download it again by changing the location to download the file and see if it helps.

You can also try to save the file on the desktop and check if you can open the same without any problem.

    Hope the helps of information.

  • Virtualized temporary Internet Files eat up disk space. How can I stop this?

Have encountered a problem of memory on my C drive and the holding of all recommendations usual cleaning only manages to free a few hundred MB. My hard drive is partitioned into a C and an E drive (each with 116 GB). I use Vista and Internet Explorer. (As far as I know, this is not a problem of RAM and my computer to not walk slowly.)

The number of programs and files on my C drive not could represent almost 116 GB of memory, but I could find no other possible reason for my low disk space... until...

I went to the guest orders and managed to do list all in the C drive. Then I spotted a directory which seems to contain a HUGE 94 GB of memory on the C drive. The exact name/address was as follows: C:\users\Kevin\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Virtualized\C\Users\Kevin\Appdata\Local\FLVService. The list of files in this directory have been mainly youtube and almost all the other videos I've seen last year! (This folder does not appear in Windows Explorer.)

Then, these videos are stored in virtual memory? They take place that much space? (The term 'virtual' throws me a bit). I can delete this file safely and how? And, finally, how to stop what is happening yet?

So, thank you for reading this far and I would be really grateful for any help on this matter.

    Kevin.

What problem you encounter when you try to delete the files?  FreeCorder has some options, you can use to purge or otherwise control the cache / repository it uses? That seems to be the easiest way to get rid of files and recover disk space.  Otherwise, uninstall (and reinstall maybe later) may present you with an option to clear the cache, the program uses.

  • What is the meaning of 'temporary internet file' and how can I find particular cookie or file belongs to the particular website?

    Please answer

    Hello

Thanks for the display of the query to the Microsoft Community. I will certainly help you to find the answer to your query.

The folder Temporary Internet Files (or cache) is used by Windows Internet Explorer and MSN Explorer to store the contents of the Web page on the hard drive of the computer for a quick consultation. This cache permits Internet Explorer or MSN Explorer download only content that has changed since you last time a Web page, rather than download all content of every time that the page is displayed.

You can also read the article and check if it helps. Here is another article on the temporary internet files.

Hope that information was useful and let us know if you need help in the future about Windows. We will be happy to help you.

  • I can not open hotmail attachments (updated Automatic Windows Vista, IE8, activated and updated running).

I have a new HP computer and I can not open hotmail attachments (updated Automatic Windows Vista, IE8, activated and updated running).  When you try to open an attachment, the bar downstairs quickly moves to the right, but never appears a dialog box asking if you want to open or save the file.  Error message I get when I try to resolve it with the suggested steps indicates "module"wintrust.dll"was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070005.  I tried to do the same command prompt, but still not received the same error.  Thanks for help anything.

    Hi Paul,.

Have you tried to download an attachment after you turn off your antivirus?
I had a problem in the past where the system was performed at Trend Micro Internet Security and Web content filtering (I think that's what it was called) was preventing attachments from download.
I would like to know what are your results!

When Windows request "do you want to open the file", I said yes and chose Windows Picture Viewer - now that is selected automatically (and it doesn't), is it possible to change this to Adobe reader?

    Create a file association.

    1. download and save the attachment to the office.
    2. right click on the saved file.
    3. Select: Open with on the shortcut menu.
    4. click on: choose [default] program.
    5. Select: Adobe Reader.
    6. check: always use the selected program to open this type of file.
    7. click on OK.

This should allow you to open these attachments directly from email address now.

I am able to go to my docs and open a previously save excel docs, but if I try to save the attachment to the email, or copy on my desktop and open it, I get the same problem. Any suggestion?

Looks like you have something stuck or too many items in your Outlook Secure temporary folder.  Try to drain and see if the problem persists:

Attachments remain in the temporary file folder secure Outlook when you exit Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007
    Outlook SecureTemp File folder

Can you open the PDF docs?  Otherwise, here are some things to try...

    • Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, and then double-click Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
    • You can open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try to disable the Protected Mode [Edit |] Preferences | (Improved) security].
    • If Reader opens in itself, try to disable the Safe_mode in the registry; Download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
    • It might even be a malware problem; See http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

  • Can't see hidden files to delete in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\William\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

C:\Documents and Settings\William\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files folder there are more than 135,000 files; nearly 2,000 cases and close to 3 GB of data. These files do not display and I can't remove them by deleting temporary Internet files. When I try to see the files to help to locate hidden files, only three very small files appear. How can I delete these files? Can I delete the folder and create a new one?

    William

You can also enter your options Internet Explorer (via Control Panel), on the general tab, in the browsing history, there should be a settings button, once there, you should be able to select Show files in the temporary Internet files section.  Who will open the file for you and you can do CTRL + A (select all), and then delete.

Some of the files in the folder may be used, and if they are in use, you will not be able to remove them.  You will need to know what is their use, cannot be used, then delete them.
