User profile corrupted after update requiring a reboot

Corrupted after update user profile

Thank you
I found that the only way to open a session is shutting off the power and I rstarting in safe mode that will accept my password of user profile and then select a restore point prior to download, and then he accepts my user profile and password.
Is there a problem with the windows updates that are the cause as this has now happened twice.

I have not tried to change update settings as I put it to advise me updates and let me choose.

Other thoughts?

  • Explorer crashes after update requires restart

Hello. I am running Windows Vista x 64 final. I'm not in the sidebar of pestiferous bug.

Every time that Windows Update requires a restart, Explorer crashes (no longer) after the reboot. After a few minutes of waiting to explore to start, I click on get something and I got the white box that says something like "this program does not respond, you want to . I kill and, for good measure, I restart Windows.

The second time I restarts Windows, Explorer loads and works for less than a minute before it crashes again. I have to kill him, and then restart Windows. Then only Explorer does not work with anything approaching reliability.

I have run chkdsk - checked everything very well. I ran sfc/scannow to find any problems in the file system, but got only standard Sidebar.ini questions (sfcdetails.exe will be in a response to this post). I also runSophos Anti-virus residents; I did a scan of Sophos Anti-virus ; I did a scan ofMalwarebytes Anti-Malware ; I did a scan Spybot Search and Destroy ; I performed aStinger anti-virus scan; I ran Windows malware removal scan. None of them found any viruses.

This problem occurred regularly since I was the computer. Why Windows Explorer does not hang after a Windows update reboot? How can I solve this problem?

    Hello

My best guess is that the Sophos has an important role in the problem you are experiencing. That can SpyBot.

Notice that the bottom line is that "all the files and registry keys listed in the framework of this operation have been
managed to fix it. So the question of the update is not missing or damaged system files, at least
not those that CFS can check and correct.

The only errors exist for settings.ini which is for the sidebar and probably does not
no effect on the functioning of the sidebar. There's certainly no impact on the question of the update.

    Close the sidebar for that.

Is there the thing for the settings.ini - run AutoRuns and look at the SideBar Gadget entries - all
This point is no longer existing files such as temp or uninstalled gadgets or not running? Generally
those who have "Yellow icons" on the left side and the files/folders will not exist. If so right click on them
and delete - restart. This may correct the errors that you see.

Autoruns - free - see what programs are configured to start automatically when you start your system
and you log in. Autoruns also shows you the full list of registry and file locations where applications can
    Configure auto-start settings.

    ----------

Another thing that often correct this problem is to close and start a couple of different gadgets.

    I hope this helps.

My T440S has corrupt files and the various problems which all seem to have started (maybe) an update of the lenovo Solution Center. I have Windows 8.1, model number 20AQ-CTO1WW. Problems:-"Windows Start menu" anything when you click it doesn't. -You try to start the solution Center Gets error "this application requires a version of adobe air, which can not be found. -Try to update or reinstall adobe air gets the same error shown above. -Try to uninstall adobe air gets the same error shown above. -I can't begin to interface user of Norton Internet Security. I tried to go back to a repair system point before all this began, and the return seems to work, except that the problems are all still there. I tried to reinstall the solution Center, downloaded 2.4.003, page load version low said that t440s is taken in charge. However, when I try to install it, I get the error "this version of lenovo Solution Center program can only be installed on select lenovo computers. And when I try to create the recovery partition recovery media, I get an error that the file is missing (or something like that, I'm sorry, could not capture the exact error). so... suggestions welcome! Just to conclude this, I have my system working again. The steps that finally cleared up things were:

ran-a ' sfc/scannow' in a guest of administration. SFC found errors, but could not fix them.

-Ran chkdsk, some disk errors were found and corrected.

ran-a ' sfc/scannow' in an administration invites once again, same error still there, could not be repaired.

-ran "Dism/Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth Online" in a prompt administrative., he finds errors and said they were repairable.

-ran "Dism/Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth Online" in a prompt administrative., he says he is able to repair the windows image. However, problems still occur.

-run "sfc/scannow" in a guest of administration, and this time, it was able to repair the corrupted files. And after that, everything works again.

  • Difficulty a user profile corrupt: impossible to copy and paste user\C:------directories and files; is locked a factor of State?

I'm trying to fix my profile by following the instructions found here. It is well written and easy to follow. Except that I can't make it work.

I copy everything except the ntuser files (do not know if they are completely copy) but when I go to the new user and click on paste, nothing happens. And when I check in a directory, say 'office,' my files aren't there.

I don't know why but quite a number of my directories is locked, including the "desktop" and many in the appdata directory. I think that there is too much to try to take ownership and change permissions; I can't do that for all of these directories.

Is there a way to get around this?

  • Possible corruption of the user profile

A strange, short situation, I have a work station that they cannot print files adobe, adobe just when a certain user logs on to this workstation. I took the following measures:

    1. Uninstalled and reinstalled the latest print drivers.
    2. Uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Acrobat XI
    3. Made sure its permissions from the local user were good (as far as I could tell).
    4. Check the file associations to ensure that the right program was used

Still does not, now, here's the kicker, if I him connect to another workstation, all is well-no problems. Also, if I connect to his work station with my references I can print correctly.

This leads me to think I have a user profile corrupted for her on this workstation, but I never fixed one or these or successor, how I would proceed?

  • Corrupted with Persona user profiles

    Hi all

I'm currently trying to keep track of intermittent problems with user profiles corrupted when you use management persona on view desktops. That we had hardware problems lately, so virtual machines of the user have been declining while to which they are connected. We had some corrupt profiles happens a lot recently, and I think they are related. While I'm not surprised that user profiles get corrupted if a virtual machine if the host it is running on crashes, I wonder what the expected behavior is supposed to be in the following cases:

    (1) Persona VM connected, the user gets reset via the administrator view

    (2) host goes down or datastore comes off while the user is connected to the virtual machine with active management of persona.

I have noticed a hidden directory on the share of persona and lock the files called "{08C31585-259A-4341-9982-78E42EAF6106}\computername.0.lck". VMware support engineer told me that the management of the Persona does not create this folder and file. However, when I go to delete it, it tells me that the file is currently open by "VMWare Horizon view Persona Management". I'm guessing that the support engineer was wrong and that's how Persona management maintains the profile to be used by one user at a time.

Can someone explain to me how this is supposed to work? Corruption of the profiles of the is an expected result a VM to a user connected being reset, or is this considered to be a bug? If the lock file is not cleaned properly, what is the expected behavior?

    Thank you

    Cameron

    Hey Cameron,

For the purposes of this explanation, power failure, reset, and crash are the same.

I don't know if you have persistent or floating desktop computers, but it is important because it affects how it works all.  Computers floating desktop create interesting challenges in scenarios of failure of power with respect to the loss of data.  On the persistent desktops of the local profile is on the bureau and if the machine blocks data can be retrieved on the next logon (assuming that the data has been written successfully to the disk until the power went out).  This is not the case with floating desktop computers, unless the user is lucky enough to get reassigned to the same desktop on the next logon, which should not.

That being said, here are some details of how works the replication engine.  Every ten minutes (the default) or whatever you have configured, the changes made during this interval are downloaded to a temporary directory hidden at the root of the roaming profile.  This folder name is a guid that starts with {d2...}.  Once this step is complete, the data is merged in the roaming profile itself.  If something like an accident or a reset occurs before or during loading in the temp directory, the upload is considered invalid and thrown.  Anything else would result in a corrupted profile (i.e. a part delivery would result in a profile that is not in a consistent state to the crash).  Thus, if a user changes a file and only the machine breaks down until all data since the delta is downloaded, the changes would disappear on a floating office scenario.  The replication engine is designed to ensure a crash-consistent state in the roaming profile in all cases where it is possible for us to do that.

Therefore, if the virtual machine to a user connected gets reset or crashes, it is very likely the user may lose data for the reasons I explained above.

If the host goes down, I think that it is a similar scenario as the roar of the VM.  If the accommodation office data store goes down, I think it's still a scenario for the accident.  If the connection to the central profile store is lost during the user session, Persona will hide changes locally and reproduce them once that the connection is restored.  Still, things get complicated if the user disconnects when the CPS is disconnected on a floating desktop or refresh on logoff is enabled.

You're right, '08C31585-259A-4341-9982-78E42EAF6106}\computername.0.lck}' is created by Persona and is how to ensure that only a single session replica for the roaming profile.  I regret that the person has told you that this is not created by Persona.  They were certainly wrong.  Unfortunately, if the bureau lost power as Persona is holder of this lock, sometimes the file server will not receive the signal to release the lock.  Not really a bug Persona as much as it is a catch-22 in the file system.  Imagine you and I were on the phone and I pulled the plug on my end, but you kept hearing my voice.  You can't hang up because I kept talking and didn't say goodbye.  Basically, the file server is not hearing 'goodbye' and the lock is not released.  The file server must release the lock when the Persona service process stops (even if the character is a not explicitly close), but it happens not cleanly in a this kind of situation, so it does not receive the message "Goodbye".  I don't know if cela a bug in Windows, NTFS, etc. it is a design problem that Microsoft cannot work around.

The profile will not work properly again until the lock is cleaned.  For now, the only way that I know currently to clean orphaned files locks is to restart the file server.

So, Yes, we can expect the data loss occurs if the office returns suddenly and that data has not yet been reproduced in some cases.  Sounds like it may be what you are experiencing.  Corruption of the profiles is a term that is often misused.  In your case, I think you see the loss of data due to breakdowns, no corruption of the profiles.  I expect your roaming profile to be in a consistent state of failure, but lack the last series of changes to the user.  What do you see?

I hope this helps to answer your questions.  If this isn't the case, please do not hesitate to ask for more.

    Thank you

    Erik
