Using CSS to create layouts of the printer

Hello again,
Please forgive my novice questions, but I'm doing things the first time and I was wondering if it's possible (or not recommended) to create a CSS file for the design of a page for viewing on the screen as well as for printing?

The page I am working on:
http://testing.neptuniandesigns.com/av_materials_test.php
begins to look as expected (on screen), but when I go to preview before printing (and reduced to adjust) using Firefox, the page breaks things half and looks generally "bad."

In the IE7 print preview, everything looks even worse, because now my product description text is all moved out of its original location.

I also noticed the justification of the text don't continues not via preview before printing in FireFox, but it maintains it IE7!

All the advice of some of you out there benefits as to the best approach to manage both print and on-screen display would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you
~ Greg

Generally, you create style sheets two, one for display and one for
print. In this way in the print css, you can hide items that are not relevant
such as navigation

  • Save a layout in the print Module?

    I created a "collection" of images which have model releases. I selected all, then we went to the print module where I adjusted the margins, columns and rows to deal with the number of images on two pages. I tried to save them to a JPG first, and then by sending the pages to the printer. Now, I'm looking for a way to save the layout as a template for future contact sheets, but I don't see a way to back up these data. Is is a feature available?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Laser HP jet 4 p using windows vista out errors in the print queue

    I have a hp jet 4 p laser. I'm trying to use it on windows vista. It is attached with a usb cable to serial port. I have the printer installed and vista now sees the printer. When I submit a test page, it appears in the print queue but - mistake.

    Have you installed the Vista drivers? If this isn't the case, you should do this. Bring:

    HP Support & drivers - go to the site Web and download/install the drivers and utilities for your HP operating system. Be sure to choose the drivers 32 or 64-bit according to the case.

    You must manually copy the content.

  • guest computer must have access to the printer host cannot use

    I have a new Mac, an old Mac, an old Windows machine and printer of Xante AW1200.

    Almost all of my work is done on the new Mac.  I get the old machine Mac or Windows of the drawer on rare occasions, or when I need to print something, because the new Mac cannot use the printer.  (Xante never taken the trouble to develop an OS X 10.6.4 driver for this printer.)

    I would like to get rid of the Windows machine.  I have it successfully migrated to a machine of comments on the new Mac, using vmware Fusion 3.1.3 but I have not found a way to get the computer to see the printer.

    This isn't a complete surprise, as Xante does not provide a driver for their (former) printer and (my new host) operating system OS X 10.6.4 - but they were planning a WIndows XP driver that has always worked well on the Windows machine, connected by the RS232 port.

    The printer also works very well on my old Mac, connected via ethernet.

    Can I connect the printer to the new Mac's ethernet port.  Of course, the Mac cannot work with it.  But could the guest computer use Windows sound driver to manage the printer?

    None of the four standard ways of printing seem applicable: ThinPrint because the host cannot use the printer.  USB because the printer is not a USB connector.  network / wireless because I do not have my old Mac running all the time.  Hello because I think that it requires that the host can see the printer.

    It certainly isn't a frequently asked Question.  Sorry, my situation is so unusual.  But the printer is special enough for the work that I do.  Any tips?

    Thank you.

    If you have a router on your site then you should be able to connect the printer to the router, configure it as needed, and then accessing it in the comments as a network printer.  Note: The guest network should be configured as connected by a bridge to access in this way.

    Another option of network which is doable, but a little more difficult to set up, is to fix the printer directly on the Mac with a standard CAT5 Ethernet cable, not a Crossover as suggested in the Ethernet Port of Mac being automatic detection User Guide.  You would then manually configure the IP address, etc. on the printer and network bridged on the comments and even if Bridged his only access to the printer on this network adapter.  Then use a second network in the guest configured as NAT, if you do not also use Bridged on that, to enable the client to have access to other resources on the physical LAN to the host, such as Internet access, etc..

    This is because you created styles only to the: link and: hover Pseudo-classes. Your buttons to return to the default state when the link is active (which is clicked) or has been visited. You must assign properties to the: visited and: active Pseudo-classes so.

    Another point about your CSS, it is that you are failing to make use of the waterfall. There is no need to repeat values that do not change. I rewrote your CSS, like this:

    a.example1
       {
       font-size:14px;
       font-weight:bold;
       text-decoration:none;
       border-width:5px;
       border-color:red;
       background-color: #FFFFCE;
       width:125px;
       color:navy;
       }
    a.example1:link, a.example1:visited {
         border-style:outset;
    }
    a.example1:hover, a.example1:active
       {
       border-style:inset;
       color:maroon;
      }

    This applies common rules for the a.example1 base selector and defines substitutions for Pseudo-classes.

    Another point. You use an XHTML DOCTYPE. All tag names MUST be valid lowercase. This is false:

     Beginners

    Tags opening and closing must be lowercase.

  • Reset the printer: what you need to know

    There are a growing number of messages in this forum and elsewhere in the internet with the steps to do a reset on different printers.  Reset to will sometimes fix problems, so resetting is not the issue.

    A few resets require you to enter key combinations to open special menus on your printer that you were supposed to never access.  These special menus are used by developers and staff support for debugging of problems, but they are not intended for inexperienced users and can have unexpected results.  A wrong button push and you might no longer have a printer, but rather an expensive paper weight.  On top of that, if you happen to the 'brick' the printer in this way, it is considered as customer induced damage and voids the warranty automatically. These resets are only intended to be distributed and used as a last resort and under the direct instruction of a representative of the HP technical support. They should not be made lightly!

    If the printer has already damaged due to her fiddling in the care of the menu, you may need to Contact HP for (paid) service.  Best not to do the damage in the first place...

    An example of the damage that may be caused would be the printers that use special cartridges installation.  Reset the printer to factory conditions can cause sound to demand once again the cartrdiges Installer.  If the original cartridges of configuration have been exhausted or discarded the user must contact HP for cartridges to install since there is no distribution channels.

Everything is up-to-date. When you ran the scan & print Dr, there is no update, he contacted the printer (which took less than 10 minutes), then I clicked on the print correction tab. After all a late minute two or so, I got the unable to communicate the message BUT it printed the page test OK after 30 seconds to a minute. Any suggestions?

    Hey @C_Wolf,

    Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

    I understand that you have some problems with printing to your Windows 7 PC to your Officejet Pro 8615 e-all-in-one printer. I can help you with that.

    To start, make sure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector. Once done:

    1. Remove the USB cable to the back of the printer.
    2. Close any programs you have open.
    3. Click on start and open devices and printers.
    4. Right-click on any icon of your printer listed.
    5. Click on remove the instrument.
    6. Repeat for any other icon of your printer listed.
    7. Connect the USB cable.

    Please let me know the results after following the above. If you are able to print quickly, click on accept solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. The two icons are below this post.

  • P1102w - cannot find the printer

    Hello

    I'm unable to print using a wireless connection.

    the printer is p1102w.

    operating system is MAC OS 10.10 Yosemite

    Whenever I try to print something I get "printer is not connected / cannot find the printer" message.

    I tried the solutions on your support site, but nothing helped.

    For sure, printer is connected to the same network as the computer. I see it on the print configuration page and I can connect to its IP address via a web browser (but I can't use web services).

    All software and drivers are up to date. Update Apple is nothing new to me. Niether have your site.

    I tried to move the printer closer and further away from router. No results.

    No web proxy is related to my network.

    To make this work, I have to remove the printer from my system, reinstall it using the USB cable, and then add it again via wi - fi.

    But some time the problem reappears.

    It's really frustrating. Help, please.

    Hi @xopot ,

    I see that you have problems printing via wireless network. I would like to help you today.

    Since you can access the printer embedded Web server, the printer would have a valid IP address. Most likely, it has something to do with the software that the printer uses.

    Fix permissions of the drive on the Mac:

    Close all applications.

    In the Apple menu, click OK, click Applications, and then click utilities.

    Double-click disk utility.

    Highlight your hard drive / partition on the left.

    Click on check and then repair disk permissions.

    Restart the computer...

    Reset the printing system:

    Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer deleted can be re-added later by clicking the sign plus (+) symbol.

    Click on the Apple icon and then click on System Preferences.

    Click on Printers & Scanners.

    Make a right click (or Ctrl + click) in the left white side panel, and then click Reset printing system.

    Click OK to confirm the reset.

    Type the name and the correct password.

    Click OK to reset the printing system.

    Then click on the sign to add the driver, highlight the printer +. (you may need to click the drop down menu to select the name of the printer) Then click the Add button.

    Configure a static IP address for the printer.

    The printer is not found during Installation wireless.

    Do not take into account the title. Select the Solution 4: assign your printer a static IP address.

    If you need help, let me know.

    Have a great day!
    Thank you.

    If you want to use the SUN, you will need to use a USB cable to reconfigure the printer.

    I hope this helps. Have a great day.
