Using Dreamweaver | Implement a local version of your site

This question has been posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.Adobe.com/Dreamweaver/using/set-local-version-site.html

A suggestion, I think. Can you make a copy of your site files and place it in another folder on your hard disk, create a new site definition in DW to see if that helps?

In the meantime, I remember an employee of P7 on the forum. I'll see if I can hang him in this discussion.

I thought I was on an official site of Mozilla/Firefox, but apparently I wasn't. The FF I loaded immediately disabled context menu. Each second counted adds popping up everywhere. I saw my site on businesscatalyst and it looks perfect on the desktop, but when I view it on mobile, is to show mainly texts and images of the model I used that I deleted and replaced with my belongings. Why these still appear only on laptop instead of that I replaced with.

Can you check the mobile version of the Web site on your desktop by adding a "/ phone" to the URL.

  • InDesign Dreamweaver in a page on the Web site

I have a newsletter and a brochure I want to display as a page on my site.  HOW can I get the InDesign page INTO the Dreamweaver page and be part of my site so that everyone can see?  It must be simple, I can't figure out how?

Thank you very much for the help I can get!

Despite what the Adobe marketing may say, there is no reasonable way to take an InDesign page for wen to HTML... It is not only translate acceptable.  Fortunately, there is a very easy way to do it. Export page in a .pdf file, make sure that your pdf settings are for viewing web, then download the pdf and the link to it.  I always give the link a target of 'white', so the PDF opens in its own window so that the user doesn't have to use the back button to return to your site.

Is it possible to use Dreamweaver with WordPress (has the classes by Joseph Lowery) only uses a test server AWS and not an environment local localhost?

Yes, I want to talk and EC2 instance and I am able to do Dreamweaver to easily connect using SFTP which I believe is a SSH protocol. See the image below. This method works.

I currently have a test instance and will finally have an instance of production when the site is finished.

Local environment is not installed on my workstation and my thought was that put it on the server would allow transparent operation including scripts on the server side. The testing station is not public.

  • Using Dreamweaver with site put in place. Local and remote server

    Hello

I just dreamweaver cs6 and I have problems with the management of the site.

So far, I used dreamweaver cs3 and when you set up a new site, the site definition had the local Info category and separate remote info.

Now on CS6 I can't set up individually to the same site, it does not give the option, it's one or the other which he does not work for me if I want to test a page locally, through preview on the browser, otherwise it will download to the server if I choose FTP. If I choose only local then I lose all ftp settings and once I did the test it will not upload to the server.

Certainly there must be a work around this or something Im doing wrong, but I do not understand what it is

There is no need to uncheck remote and testing. Previewing locally should work exactly as it did in CS3.

You use a language on the server side? If so, expand the files Panel by clicking this icon:

Then, make sure that the test server icon is selected.

  • My .swf files that I joined using Dreamweaver do not play in any browser, online or local...

I created a website in Dreamweaver (cs5.5).  (I created the swf file in flash cs5.5 also) (I also have the latest flash player)

There is here a test version (there is no images, but there is the .swf file and another from/Scripts/directory, created by Dreamweaver when I imported the swf file, the /test/ directory

    containing expressInstall.swf swfobject_modified.js) - www.pureimaginationcakes.com/test/

When I use the preview in browser, Iexplore and Chrome feature, I get a grey area where the movie should be.

I used Dreamweaver to import the swf file. I do not encode anything myself.

Online, there is simply no flash animation that is where it should be.

When I double click the expressInstall.swf in windows Explorer I get a security alert saying that Flash Player blocking expressInstall.swf contact fpdownload.macromedia.com.

and I can't figure out how to change this parameter (that is if it's relevant).

I have the same problem on other computers, I don't know what else to do outside the post here.

Would be grateful of any help.

This is a line in the Flash embed code that caused a lot of problems:

The swfversion "11" doesn't seem to work. Change to 10 and give it a try.

    Best wishes

  • Is it possible to edit without using Dreamweaver?

I'm new to the software.  I wonder how Dreamweaver works?  T he creat HTML files?  If I don't have Dreamweaver I can modify the web site?  I have a website that slide shows through many photos of the site.  I want to just delete one of the photos in the slideshow.

To make changes using Dreamweaver, I need to download all the files?

First, define a local site folder in DW for the files in the site. This first step allows DW manage site links and goods for you.  Sites > Manage Sites > new...

Once you have the defined local folder of the server implementing remote log-in info.

Create your first website DW CS5-

    http://www.Adobe.com/devnet/Dreamweaver/articles/first_website_pt1.html

Using the Panel files in DW, you can go DOWN (arrow) all the site files to the remote server to your local folder.   Edit local files, preview in the browser to test.  When everything looks good, use the PUT option (up arrow) to re - publish the site.

  • Is it possible to identify orphans using Dreamweaver on a remote server?

I have not used the option of orphans on Dreamweaver before. I used to create my pages, download them and then remove it from my local system (the site on which I work is too much to have on my local machine). The problem I've encountered is that there are a lot of orphaned files on this web server. Is it possible to have dreamweaver to go looking for them, or the whole site should be local? It is a bit of a long shot, but I thought that I would like to ask because I'm rather at my wits end.

If it helps, the Web server is runing SunOS, and my Local computer is runing Windows XP with CS5

Checking for orphaned files with Dreamweaver

DW has a built-in feature that will check links in the local site folder and it will identify all the unused files in the results panel. This feature is integrated into the 'Check links' utility of Dreamweaver in the Site menu.  After that the software checks links, it gives you a report of all the unused files, you can either remove or add a link to.

The following products of part 3 are useful tools for webmasters who want to keep their web space organized and well maintained.

Of Inspyder OrFind will be "analyze your site" and to identify the HTML pages and images which are no longer used.  The software can be configured to automatically delete these files, and it even will send you by email a report if files are changed. This can provide a webmaster with peace of mind, knowing that if their Web space gets hacked, they will be alerted. There is a free trial available. Afterwards, you must pay for the software to continue using it.

Link HTML Validator, published in 2007 by Lithops, check your website for broken links, regardless of the number of pages that your site has. This software is another class of' Spider Web' that Thames through your web pages and identifies the orphaned files web site.  The software is a Shareware, but you must register and pay to use the full version.

FindOrphan is a simple application created by SobolSoft who will search your HTML, PHP and ASP local files all files not related, including media such as images and video files.

Linx Explorer of NOVOSIB software will check all the links on your website to check broken links, and it will also detect all files not related to your web directory and provide you with a report.

SiteCleaner is a Mac software created by the Studios of rabbit's foot that will have all the files and the code for your web project and "clean" html files or media all orphans. Deleted files are placed in a folder "deleted content".

  • I'm upgrading to Adobe CC. Currently, I use Dreamweaver CS5 to my Web site. Should what steps I take to ensure that I can edit my site in Dreamweaver cc?

I'm upgrading to Adobe CC. Currently, I use Dreamweaver CS5 to my Web site. Should what steps I take to ensure that I can edit my site in Dreamweaver cc?

You can go to Site > Manage Sites > export to create files .ste with your settings to be imported into the new version of the site. This way your info ftp and other site specific parameters will meet instantly, rather than having to create new definitions of site by hand.

Other that that, there really nothing that needs to be done for CC to understand your old files.

When installing CC, make sure you click on the advanced settings in the Installer link and disable "Remove older Versions". You can easily have CS5 and installed CC at the same time to make the transition less sharp. There are some pretty big changes between CS5 and CC can take you awhile to get under your belt. Have the old version will allow you to continue to work with something that you know while you do the adjustment with the new software.

CC has more Spry example, if whatever it is done using the framework Spry will no longer offer that you dialogue windows when you want to change. You will need to either open the old program or switch to the jQuery version (if it is available in the DW interface). It won't 'break' your Spry effects, it just will not allow you to change from the windowed interface (adjustments should be coded manually or in the old software).

  • Can my customer use Dreamweaver cs5 to edit a site Dreamweaver CC?

I think currently to a subscription of the CC to Dreamweaver so that I can redesign a site, but the customer maintains and updates their content and will not be upgraded. Can they change their website using Dreamweaver CS5 once I have start to edit files in Dreamweaver CC?

    Mike,

Dreamweaver is a glorified text editor and as such can be used to edit HTML, CSS, JS, PHP, XML and a bunch of other documents. The reason why I say this is because, regardless of the structure of a Web site, any version of Dreamweaver allows to change it. Where the difference is where it allows you to use the deprecated code or where it guides you to use contemporary code.

In short, Yes, your customer can continue to use CS5

  • Is it possible to use Dreamweaver CC per month?

    Hello

Is it possible to use Dreamweaver CC just for a month, and then, after a few months use it not then use again for a month? (and pay only for those months)

My problem is that I have enjoyed working with previous versions of the Dreamweaver only support, but I don't use it on a regular basis. (For construction cost in CC is a bit afraid of me )

So I would like to work with CC Let's say a month or two and then do not use it for 4 months and then work with her again. So can I use CC as a pre paid something?

Yes, if you select the monthly Plan.

That's a higher rate per month as the annual Plan, but it allows you to start and stop your subscription at any time throughout the year and pay for the months you use DW.

If your old machine still works, export your definition of original site to a portable player, copy in your new machine and then import the site definition to the new machine. The definition file will have the extension .ste

Create an empty folder on your new machine.

Define a 'new' web site on your new machine to point to the new local root folder.

Log your server and download all of the subfolders and files in the folder root from the server to the new local root folder.
