  If you buy the exact same OEM version as your current license (Windows 7 Home Premium - Windows 7 Home Premium) it will work.

  If you have difficulties to activate Windows 7 open the Windows Activation Wizard in Windows 7 to use the phone and activate Windows:
  During the Windows 7 installation at the entrance of your product keys page, do not enter your key and uncheck the "automatically activate when online.
  1. When you reach the desktop, click Start, then in the search box type: slui.exe 4
  2. press enter on your keyboard
  3. Select your country.
  4. Select the option to activate the phone, then call and hold to a real person.

  Yes, you can use the same product key when reinstalling windows.

  Note: If you are facing a problem while activating, I recommend you contact the factory system since you are using an OEM computer.

  Sorry but this key code belongs to original recovery image and you can't use it with every installation of Windows XP Home edition CD. In your case, there are two options:
  -You can buy the CD of facilities Microsoft original WXP (with the key correctly code) or
  -Contact the partner of service allowed in your country and order the new CD from recovery for your laptop model.

The serial number in the physical box that you buy in the store wasn't the number for the software.  It was the serial number in the cloud, very difficult to know when you see a serial number in the box with the Cd online.  But thanks for the reply to my post.   Each computer toshiba laptop comes with preinstalled operating system (recovery image) and the product key at the bottom of your laptop belongs to this version.   You can use the delivered Toshiba recovery disc that contains mage replicated several times and each time you will have activated the operating system. When you use the Microsoft disk for the installation of the OS you must have valid product key which belongs to this particular version.

  In your case product key is for Vista, and you cannot use it for Win7 activation. This product key is... unnecessary.

  You must order a set of recovery disc for the computer from the manufacturer - this will install the appropriate drivers for your system automatically, as well as packaged applications.

  If you have not formatted the disk (or replaced) existing partition recovery may still be present - see your manual for details.

  You can't say the product key.  If you use an Installation of Vista genuine disc it will install its own version to know the product key when you are prompted to enter (all versions of the same size of the bit are included on the authentic disc).
