  the best solution would be to do the following:

  1. backup your data and download the drivers for Vista.
  2. make sure that all stored/saved/etc.
  3. install the bios
  4 restart the machine and install Vista

  As you never have a drive to buy, this is how you should be able to reinstall Vista on a Toshiba using the recovery partition:

  You can see if it works but it is probably destroyed by installing these backup Images.

  If it is not available, try and get the Toshiba recovery disks or borrow a DVD of Microsoft Vista according to my first answer.

My problem is that the left upper button convience asks for a password when I lock it, from what I read the only way to block it and password prompt on unlock is ALT + ENTER.
