  I use 7 Captivate and feels truncated text when I use variables in text captions. I have a text entry area that I assigned to a variable of 'v_name' to. In a text caption, I have the following text: "$$ v_name$ $ to view the text stored in the variable.» I know there is a way to adjust the length of the variable, but I can't seem to find in this version!

  You can use variables to show/hide elements on a page.

  First add custom variables to represent the State of completion of each section. Something like sectionOneCompleted = 0, sectionTwoCompleted = 0, etc..

  Then add assignments for each of your variables at the end of each section. For example, you could define "on slide enter ' use 'assign' and give variable sectionOneCompleted set to 1.

  Then in your table of contents you can show/hide the elements on the page depending on the value of your new user-defined variables.

  1. go in the slide properties

  2. under ' Navigation: on the slide, type ' select 'execute the Advanced Action '.

  3. click on the... button next to 'the Action '.

  4. under change/create an Action, select 'create '.

  5. the action of giving a name such as ShowHideThingie

  6. in the area of large text, double-click the text of 'Statement add' light gray.  Gray 'add a statement' become a red "declaration". Double-click it again.

  7. Select 'condition' in the menu drop-down

  8. click 'Select a variable' and choose your variable defined by the user (in this case, "sectionOneCompleted")

  9. choose "is equal to" and then enter a value of 1

  10. then, you must specify what to do if the value is 1.  Under 'start' double-click 'Add education '. Select 'action Standard' in the menu dropdown.

  11. Select 'View', then select the name of the object that you want to display (each item placed on the blade has a unique ID)

  12. now, we need to specify what happens if the value is NOT 1.  Under 'otherwise... start', double click 'Add education '. Select 'action Standard' in the menu dropdown.

  13. Select 'Hide', and then select the name of the object that you are showing to step 12.

  14. click "Save" and close the window of the Actions dialogue box.

  This should be it!

  Note: I have not tested these steps carefully (written very quickly), but I hope you get the idea and can get out of here.

• Cp6 - re-use of the advances in stocks?

  I searched this forum and frankly, I'm surprised that maybe only one person has asked about it. I'm a big believer in the re-use of components, elements of learning (etc.) as often as possible. After all, this is supposed to be rapid e-learning..., and time is money. :-)

  Is it possible to reuse the Captivate 6 Advanced actions? This has been a point of frustration for a long time. In particular, I just finished to experience a fairly complex series of advanced actions, but now I want to put on the buttons and the advanced actions associated with several models. In other words, update the other four models with this new feature.

  I really have to painstakingly reproduce each of these advances shares four times (for each model)?

  I asked Adobe issues, back to version 5 and I never received a response to this subject for a long time frustrating problem. Am I missing something? I make it bad for this long? Why is this not a problem for someone else?

  If you knew how many times I'm pleading, begging, to have a solution to this problem for advanced actions published in CP4. But apparently he never done on the priority list for the team. Other features are most important, and nobody regrets that more that I do. Don't know if you have visited my blog... once it focuses largely on advanced actions.

  With Captivate 6 one thing has changed: you can save a file immediately as a model and a model will have all the variables and advanced actions. Then, you'll just have to clean it. It's the way I am the re-use of variables and advanced actions since they appeared. But in the previous versions, save it as a template is not available.

  If this is not enough users demand improvements on advanced actions, they will never. I introduced the long lists with possible improvements, just save it as a template has made so far.

• Shares advanced with effect applies on the click boxes

  I could use some help troubleshooting one of my projects.

  I use a couple of clickboxes that perform distinct advanced actions - by clicking on the first clickbox (CB1) shows a picture, a text caption and click box (CB2) that appear with a fade-in effect apply (see the + ApplyEffect). Then, once everything is displayed, CB2 makes all melted (ApplyEffect only). It's like a pop - up glorified that fades in and out. It works very well... once!

  The problem is that if CB2 hides everything stated by CB1, I can open and close until the cows come home. However, as soon as I replace Hide to apply effects (fadeout) in advanced actions, he won't again. I click on CB1 but nothing happens.

  What I think is that CB2 is not hiding anything (only fades them out of sight) and when I click on CB1 the second time, it displays them, but I don't see it because they are always made disappear.

  I tried to add assign rdcmndGotoFrameAndResume with v_startframe at the end of advanced action of CB2, but nothing helped. Simply, he jumps the fadeout and go to the first image.

  Is it possible to delay my last action? Or maybe I do not have that sense. just started using advanced actions.

  First define the variables two user I've been using: v_start and v_fadeout. No need to give them a default value.

  On the slide, in the properties, Action on enter, accordion panel you choose entitled and in the drop-down list, you select v_start and then you will need to type in the system variable $$rdinfoCurrentFrame$ $. I find it easier to make a standard advanced trigger action on enter, because in the dialog shares advanced, you can also select this variable system instead of having to type it. With this action, the value in the v_start variable will be the first image of the slide number.

  For buttons, unlike the click boxes, you can time the point of suspension in the properties, timing Accordion Panel. Here, you can type in 6 to "Pause after '... You can display two buttons during the rest of the slide (CTRL-E).

  It will automatically return to the first image, that's what makes the rewind button: assign rdcmndGotoFrameAndResume with v_start.

  There is no possibility of time in a tip action.

  Explanation of Expressions: in the first expression, I calculate the number of frames corresponding to 6 seconds. the variable rdinfoFPS system automatically gives the number of frames per second, default value is 30. If the first expression will result in 180 frames. But I have to navigate to the absolute number of this framework from the beginning of the project. That's why I add the number of the first frame of the slide that is stored in v_start.

• Shares advanced for the slides of ramifications

  I spent hours on it, seen all Lieve and Adobe materials and all what I've accomplished is a headache and about 50 actions and variables in the trash can. Any help would be appreciated... a lot!

  I use CP 5.5 on a PC.

  I have a training scenario where the learner is delivered in an entry slide (slide 1 for simplicity). On this slide, there are four photos of managers to talk with. A clickbox on each photo sends you a new slide. (ie: Manager 1 (M1) sends you to slide 2 (S2), M2 = S3, etc.). Once you see the Manager info click on a "back" button and are sent back to slide 1, so you can visit all four managers. Once completed, the learner selects a button continue and jumps to slide 6 in continue the scenario.

  Objective:

  1. when the learner chooses a Director and goes to the Manager page, on their return to the slide of entry, I would like to see a green check mark of their photo.

  2. I want the button 'continue' hidden until all the Manager of four pages were examined.

  Sounds simple? So I thought.

  One last question:

  You can attach shares advanced to a slide and a clickbox. Who has priority? Will be used rather than the other.

  Funny you should post this question because that's EXACTLY what I had to do for a client of mine, a month or two back, except that in his case, it was 6 different roles involved in a business process.

  I had a picture of each role on the master slide with a widget event handler attached to each, but a click box would have done the job just as well.  By clicking on the picture performed a tip Action to move to the slide in which you said all about how this role participated in the process of the company.

  I created a separate variable for each called [RoleName] role done with the default value of 0 and a tip for each called whole [RoleName] role Action performed.  Then I put the OnExit from each role information slide action to perform this action.

  Here's what looked like a typical action:

  

  As you can see, when the learner is out the slide of role information, and he performs this action, it assigns to the variable ManagementSponsorDone 1, and then jump to the slide Menu roles (the slide with pictures of role).

  When the arriives user to the menu slide it works a conditional Advanced Action OnSlideEnter called ShowTicks that looks like the value of the variable of each role to see whether or not it has been set to 1 and if so, reveals the tick sitting on the photo of this role.

  Here is what looks like the menu slide. Each scale has an element name that indicates what role it applies to (ManagerTick, etc.):

• Why use Edge animate in Captivate 9?

  I am VERY new to Captivate and most Adobe products and am not a web developer or programmer.  I learned how to use 9 CAptivate and understand you can do advanced animations (and more with the function of calendar in the working area).  However, I recently took a course (a pretty good on the site Adobe know-how) on sensitive site, building 8, Captivate and the instructor used edge animate to do something similar.  I do not understand that Edge animate has other uses and has more features that advanced in Captivate 9 animations, but if I want to only produce a little advanced animations and simple movements, I use Edge animate to do this?  I guess what I'm trying to understand where are the limits to capabilites animation Captivate 9 against Edge animate?

  Animate edge can create animations and "was" considered to be the alternative for Flash animations at the start of the hype of HTML5. However, Edge animate is more will continue during development, the month next Flash Pro will be renamed CC animate and will be able to post files OAM, as Edge host used to do. Captivate has the ability to embed animations such as you can embed animated GIF (old but still functional to both output SWF and HTML5) as well. However, it must be aware of the fact that there is no communication between these animations and Captivate, unless you know JavaScript. Such communication is possible using widgets.

  Since you are new, I often have problems with the terminology. You want simple movements in Captivate 9? Use the effects of movement, much easier to create and manage than to try to do it with another application. The effects are possible in Captivate, no need for another application at all. What do you mean by "advanced animations? If explain you it, maybe I can also offer you an alternative to animate dashboard? I used it with Captivate 8, but right now, I'm perfectly happy with what's available in Captivate. Edge Animate has (d) the possibility of incorporating some code snippets (JS) or write your own code. Captivate has advanced actions, shared stocks and you can also launch the JavaScript code. I don't think Edge animate has 'more' feature if you want to create Captivate e-Learning courses! Or do you have another goal?

• Using variables to get the answers to the questions of fill-in-the-White

  Fill-in-the-blank questions, to provide answers. I want to provide these in the form of variables (user-created), rather than in the form of fixed strings (so, as $$ var1$ $ and not as 'Rabbit'). I could not get this to work. The variable input function is available (in the properties panel), but it does not in fact (i.e. even if you select a variable to be entered, it is not actually automatically registered).

  Is there a way around the problem?

  1. NB containing the same question for text entry boxes (rather than fill-in-the-blank questions). If I could get this works for text entry boxes, I'd use questions these rather than fill-in-the-white.

  2. a peut use variables for the answers to the multiple-choice questions. So I hope I can make it work for fill-in-the-blank questions as well.

  That would be my suggestion. I don't have a blog, but using BER of for this kind of questions me as well. And unlike the widget/interaction, that I've mentioned before, BER is an interactive object, which means it can be validated and that there may be a score attached to it. But, it will not help you, since you have to add the correct answers in the same way as for a drop-down list in the issue of the FIB (they are the sorts of TEB). And it is this list that does not enter a variable rather than a fixed sequence of characters.

  This means that you are into stocks advanced, identical to that of my blog posts with the widget/interaction.

  The idea is to use another interactive object that can have a score. Actually, I use two instances of the same object: a score of 0 and one with score of X and show the right according to the conditional action.

  However if you want to have multiple TEB on the same blade, which must be verified with the same tip action, you will need either the mastery of InfoSemantics (only for output SWF) widget or Javascript.

  (1) I create three variables non-persistent to odi that retrieves the value of a sql statement select, like this, for example:

  The question is, where do I put the variables? Everywhere where I put them, the operator gives me an error message which, during the execution of the insert statement, indicate that the variable has no value. I'm trying to insert then before the intervention, (Interface (success)-> var1 (success)-> Var2 (success)-> Var3 (success)-> procedure (with the insert statement)), but they, of course, an error because the previous step of the var1 var2, where should be the interface.
  
  I'm trying to create a scenario (new package) with the variables and the main package becomes like this:

  Sorry for my delay to answer you...

  To solve the problems...

  (1) OK

  (2) you must repeat the "refresh state variable' running after each interface or the procedure. It is possible to paralallel the execution but it's a different architecture.

  (3) on the variables, simply drag and drop it to the package and leave it as declaring type. This wll allow you, after creating a scenario, use these variables as stamped.

  If photos have been uploaded to photo streams and/or iCloud photo library before modified your accounts, it is quite possible that the account holder was able to see or have access to photos.
