Using Windows 7, how to run CHKDSK?

I found chkdsk.exe in the Windows\System32 folder, but when I double click on it, the only answer is a flash of the screen BACK {black, command-line}! Is this the correct answer?

Not there at - it no way to run the disc [Calendar] a scan [to find errors] as there was in previous versions of Windows?
