Using WMP to play .bup files fails now, but worked 10 minutes ago!

Ok.

I have dl'ed a video file over containing a lot of extensions that I wasn't aware of at the time. One of them was a .bup

I opened it with Windows Media Player, just for fun, and low and behold, WMP played! I could not believe. I was excited. Video files worked perfectly.

Then, 10-20 minutes. later, when I tried to open the exact same files with WMP, I got an error message that basically says, 'sorry, WMP does not support this file type. Sorry ' end your bad luck. Try asking the help of the Web. »

WTF happened? I can solve this problem? I like a lot (perhaps to my detriment) using WMP and do not want to dl a different media player, but I will if I have to. (You hear that, Microsoft?) I'll do it! I'm crazy!).  Thanks in advance for the help, yall!

It's really weird, but I managed to get my files to work on WMP.

Of course, if I try to open them through Windows Explorer window, will not work on WMP. However, if I open WMP, then go through the menu and tell him to open the file, it works like a charm. Crazy.

Anyway, if you have this problem, just try what I did and see if it works for you. If this isn't the case, I would try a dl to a different media player. VLC is supposed to be a good, and you can find it here

  • Use WMP to play audio files of older games triggers the Crash game

I have a game more Microsoft called Age of Empires. The game has some cool sound effects, I went into the game directory and played some of the sounds with Windows Media Player. Now when I try to play the game, it crashes when these sounds are triggered.

I learned that WMP adds a kind of coding for audio files when he plays, and that older games such as Age of Empires do not include this extra info so when the game tries to play the sounds, it crashes.

I tried to uninstall the game completely and put it back and even delete audio files and their replacement, but he did not set. It is only the sounds that I played on WMP that cause the game to Crash, all the sounds I was not playing on WMP still work fine.

Can you please tell me how to resolve this.

    Hi Halima,

Thanks for your reply. I managed to solve the problem in a different way. I open each file with a program (I use Adobe Audition) for audio editing, you click Save under and saved all of the audio files as new mp3 files, crushing & replace the original files. I did it in bulk by opening all the audio files at the same time and choosing "save all".

This seems to have removed the additional coding added to audio files in Windows Media Player and the game can play these audio files when triggered.

That said, I do not understand why crushing & replacing the mp3 files fixed the issue so that the uninstall & reinstall the game does not - this method of relocation removed all files of game (including all audio files) and replace them with the original from disk files, but still they cannot be triggered by the game. Maybe the computer recognized them somehow as the same files that WMP had altered and automatically change them again. Very strange.

    Thank you

  • Weird reading during the use of Stream.play ("mp3:file")

    Hello!

I am trying to set up a selection side server for playback of mp3 files, if I fall into a weird behavior of the FMS.

I use the last FMS 4.0.2

Here's how I try to publish the stream (ActionScript on the server side):

    var s = Stream.get ("boo");

    If (s) {s.play ("mp3:rhcp", 0) ;}}

Client side, I try to play using NetStream.play ("boo"). However, the sound quality that I get is really weird. The sound goes slower and faster and stops for a split second. He can play properly for a few seconds, but that's all. Sounds like a problem of decoder for me, or a bitrate conversion problem.

When I play the stream with NetStream.play ("mp3:rhcp"), the reading goes well.

I tried several MP3s with different flow rates, but they all have the same problem.

It looks like a bug to me, so I'm expecting Adobe to comment on this one.

    Hello

    Please try the FMS 4.0.2

It is a little strange to see the problem, but I would like to know your settings on the client side. What player flash you use (although I doubt that it is a question that your reading of the original file is ok), and what is the length of the buffer that you used? There are known issues with the length of the buffer to 0. Can you try and change the length of the buffer in some other values and see if that helped to get the best quality?

    Thank you!

  • Stor.e TV + - playing .mkv files have sound but no picture

I just transferred all my .mkv files on my store TV + but most of them have sound but no picture? They play fine on my PC...

Also, in any case to change the icon of the folder on the actual dvd cover on the store TV +? Sick to see the yellow folders!

    Thank you...

    Hello
Find the StorE TV + specifications on this page from Toshiba:
    http://www.Toshiba-multimedia.com/EU/store-external-hard-drives/TV-plus/

The Store TV + supports video formats: MPEG1 (DAT, MPG), MPEG2 (VOB, MPG, TS/M2TS/TP TRP), MPEG4 (AVI, MP4, MKV), VC-1 (WMV), H.264 (AVI, MKV, MOV, MP4), RM/RMVB (RM/RMVB)

MKV files are supported by the MPEG4 and H.264 video format.
Files are saved in these formats?
How about you play other i.e. MPG or AVI files?

In addition, I would recommend checking the connection to the TV.
Here is a user manual that I found on the page of Toshiba:
    http://www.Toshiba-multimedia.com/global/manuals/store/manuals/STORE_TVplus_User_Manual.PDF

It shows you how to connect the Store TV + correctly.

  • WMP 12 won't 'play' SAMI files (subtitles)

I used a lot of WMP 9 control embedded in html pages for playback of audio and video files with subtitles in smi file. In Win XP that everything works well, with early problem Vista and now Windows 7 and WMP 12 I can play only mid (karaoke) for the types of audio files and avi for video files (with VobSub filter installed) types. Even with the video in WMV, WMP 12 won't coded subtitles, but when I convert same video in WMP 12 avi format will see the good subtitles smi file (because of DirectShow filter), is the filter CC of Microsoft or something else that will allow WMP 12 Show subtitles during video playback in the format wmv or mp4. Same thing for audio. If the midi playback (mid or kar extension) it be CC (in the karaoke style), but if the audio is in mp3 WAV reformatted then nothing.

I have to admit, it works. But what a waste. Microsoft has changed the way that parser for smi files works and coused promblems. I used the syntax 'by the book' WMP 9 (2004.y.) and the files mid is always the same, but for mp3, wav, wmv, wma, that I have to change some things in smi (SAMI Cloed Caption file) and now it works as what should be. Like this:

    Style secttion, I have:

    . ENUSCC {Name: "English subtitles" lang: en-US;} SAMIType:CC ;}

    should be

    . ENUSCC {name: Legends; lang: en-US ;}}

in the Style section, I have a comment line:

/ * P defines the selector base style for the text of paragraph captioning * /.

and I have to remove this comment, what a strange thing to do to make this work?

I lose the second line of the text because I have "font color" tags it and
tag does not now, but if I reformat the second line, then it works.

Never mind, it took me almost a year to resolve this problem.

  • Windows media player will not play videos that I created a few years back. they use to play very well; now, I received the acquired codec error message. I use wmp 11

My old videos in my windows media player will not play. acquire CODECS rises. I get audio but not video for all the movies at home. Movies that I downloaded and clips play very well. How can I fix it. I use wmp 11.

    Hello satindoll11233,

    1. What is the exact error message you get when you try to play videos?

    2. What is the format of the videos that you try to play?

    3. are you able to play other files with Windows Media Player?

Media Player will not be able to play video files, if there are no required codecs or video format is not supported by Media Player.

I suggest you to check the format of the video you are trying to play. You can also try the steps in the article to resolve this problem:

  • Error "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file' when try to play wav or midi files.

Original title: WMP "can't play wav or midi.

Using WMP 11 on Windows XP SP3.

Windows Media Player has somehow forgotten how to play wav or midi files. Doubleclicking either of these file types give an error "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file. " There is a button 'Close' and 'Web Help' which still informs me, "you met the C00D1199 error message... ". ». Following the advice given nothing less than useful.

I can easily play these files with RealPlayer or VLC so I don't think it's a driver problem, and it wasn't a corruption right after installing the other players. WMP seems to work OK when playing music or AVI. And there is no harm to hear a sound (wav or midi) in Windows for various system events. Have already uninstalled/reinstalled WMP without result.

    Thanks for your reply.

I have since determeined the problem comes from an updated codec package I installed a few weeks ago. These codecs were from Shark007 which I believe is a Microsoft MVP. Use the codecs from this site for a number of years without any problems so I did not initially suspect it was the source of the problem. I uninstalled the codec pack and installed K-light package and everything seems to be Ok now. Now, I'll be in contact with the members of this forum.

  • WMP will play longer wma files.

had been ripping to mp3. checked the settings and copy protect music has been verified and was now ripping in wma and I had not noticed. All mp3 files play fine. rolled back to wmp 9 but no help. Very frustrating because I have all these CDs, but do not want to pull them out again. Help, please.

I have been using wmp to do all the tears. In fact, my son was doing PMR but he has always relied on me for the parameters so I know that it has not changed anything. This is what is so confusing. I have not installed software but I have recently upgraded ram and processor. I'll try the uninstall/reinstall suggested and report. Thanks a lot for the quick responses!

    Stace

The upgrade of the processor is probably why...  Here's how windows DRM works: when you check out a song of DRM protected format (DRM Digital Rights Management =, also known under the name of copy protection) the file of the song is actually encrypted.  At the same time, a 'license' file is written in your windows directory somewhere (it is not hidden... easy to find.)  This license file contains DRM 'rules' as the question about whether you can burn the file to CD, etc., and it also contains the decryption key.  This license file is "linked" to your PC, which means that it has incorporated some very detailed facts on the PC so that it can tell if it has been copied to another PC.

When you upgrade the processor, you have actually tricked the DRM into thinking it's another PC...
I don't think there's a way to replace this... it is probably faster to you just re-rip your CD to spend time looking for a possible solution.
