  The drivers that you try to install seems to be corrupted. Let us fisrt remove all traces of the software driver for this device in the Device Manager and then install the drivers from the manufacturer's Web site.

  I think that perhaps not all device drivers have been installed when I installed Windows Vista, this time. If that's the problem, I don't know how that could happen, nor how to fix it, but I really prefer to find a way to solve this problem without reinstalling Windows Vista again. I don't mind not manually install the drivers as long as someone can show me what files to copy and where to find them on the Windows Vista disk that I bought at Microsoft.   I put the driver file in the right place and the vi are appearing in the selection menu, as expected.  I have my Keithley 2400 connected to a serial port COM1.  When I am trying to run the VI initialization it does not work.  I know that they are communicating in a form any because my Keithley goes into remote mode and the driver initialization is able to read properly what is the model of the Keithley.  When he arrives at the VISA read vi is to expire, it always returns the correct model identification.  I do not understand why it is allowed and does not.

  If you have a mac, you can use a utility called disk pre-installed program. Connect your external DRIVE for mac drive and find an application called disk utility, in disk utility, there should be an option to erase the external HARD drive. It may come with an error similar to what you had before, but it's certainly worth a try. Let me know if this worked for you.

  I use the latest version of Mac OS X on my iMac 27 ". I use a drive outside of 3 TB G-Tech for Time Machine backup. Due to my recently many RAW photo images, I have less 8% left storage on my external hard drive, so I'm trying to figure out next steps in what concerns the strategy of external storage and have the following questions:

  • When my external drive for Time Machine is full, it is my understanding that older backups on external hard drive will be deleted to make room for newer backups. If the oldest backups contained pictures (whose records have not changed since the time they are initially stored), then I guess that these photos will be removed from the external drive - correct?
  • If I had to replace my external drive for Time Machine with a new external drive which is as big or bigger than the one it replaces, what should I expect on the size of the initial backup on the new drive? I guess the size of the backup would be exactly equal to the current amount of storage used on my drive hard iMac - correct?
  • Would it not be possible to connect the external drive for Time Machine existing at a new Time Machine external drive so that when the original disk is full, the overflow will be automatically stored on the new external hard drive for Time Machine? (If feasible, it seems that this strategy would maximize my external storage capacity vs just replace external drives.)

  I realize that my first two questions are rather basic, but I don't want to make any false assumptions. The third idea is intriguing and I would like to know if this is a viable option.
