Variant in the variant of a shared variable

Hello

I'm re-reading some tags in a PLC Siemens S7 - 1200 OPC server of NOR. I can read them NOR-DSM (Distributed System Manager). However, I can't read or write in Labview. I generated a shared variable event loop that runs when the variable changes. I always get variant variant as a value that is not correct I want to convert to a data type. (See attached image)

How can I fix it?

It's okay, it works:

  • error in the terminal of a shared variable

I read in the help of Labview entry 'Error In' to a shared variable provides a feature of "type error in. What I am unclear on the subject, is that if an error occurred before the shared variable, it will cause the shared variable NOT to do what it is supposed to do? If an error is passed to the entry 'Error In', the variable node still shared read/write as normally?

Lol mistake-type functionality means that when an error is passed, the node will not run.

  • VI refuses to run when the published network shared variable is not available

I have a VI of logging data on my PC that gathers data from several sources, including several shared variable published network hosted on an RT target.

The problem I have is that the data logger VI refuses to start if the target RT is disabled and the VI is abandoned if the network connection is interrupted.

Is there an easy way to detect when running, be published these variable network are available and use a placeholder value, if they are not rather than the current behavior of refusing to work?

I saw many people using data sockets, but I try to avoid the overhead of setting up and testing a loop of treatment relatively complex network on both ends when the network has published shared variables are so simple to use and works perfectly as this abnormal behavior.

You can replace them with programmatic access (shared variable aperture and friends) and the dummy data placeholders if the variable is not accessible.

  • Publish a queue using the shared variable

I have a 2D table queue and I would like to publish (the reference) in a shared variable, so that I can pay the items in the queue in an another vi. I tried to create a queue control and used the custom of the shared variable control option, but it gives me an error "invalid data type.

You try to read from the queue to another computer? Passing the reference to the queue on the network to a another computer will not allow the application to read data from the queue. The queue data is stored only locally.

I honestly don't know why you get an error trying, however. Other options to access a queue in the world on the same machine are to use a Global Variable, rather than a shared Variable, or to get your reference queue by using a well-known name who know the other parties of the request.

  • How to make a shared variable, which is an update on the host channel?

    Hi all

I'm relatively new to LabVIEW, so I apologize in advance.  I'm working on a vision for research application and I'm trying to convey an image of the smart camera target to the host.  I flattened the IMAQ image to a string and pass the string to a shared variable.  On the end of the host, I unflatten image and try to post to see if I don't really get the image data on the host.  However, it only displays the first image and after that the image is not updated.  In addition, the shared variable itself is not up-to-date.  I have a loop timed on the target and a loop of simulation on the host.  Help or direction would be appreciated.

    Thank you very much.

I thought about it and will post here just in case it might help someone else.  For some reason, the IMAQ flatten channel gives a format that did not like the unflatten of the chain.  When I have no flat chain, it didn't recognize it as an image.  Instead, I just used the generic flatten the string on the target and then block when I have not flattened image on the host computer, I had to only give the guy I got to report the allocation of memory IMAQ.  Maybe I'm just slow, but if this helps someone else, fine.  Thanks again.

  • Embedded FPGA vi - network shared variable not updated

    Hello

I work with an ethernet RIO 9149 of data acquisition. I use a hybrid programming mode.

I have a very simple FPGA VI that I downloaded on the flash memory. I used the indicator led to show my VI runs once the power of the RIO. Everything is fine, except that my shared network variables are not updated in the DSM ("no known values" displayed). However when I run the FPGA VI of my laptop, only once then stop and close (with 'interactive execution'), then my shared variables are updated in the DSM.

Any ideas why is this and how do I get the RIO update automatically shared variables without having to run the VI once?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

I did a few tests and research and discovered that it doesn't seem to be possible. It is important to note the difference between Network-Published static (NSPV) and Variables of e/s of Network-Published.

The other are "user defined variable I/O" to communicate between FPGA and RT (RT absent on chassis Ethernet as the NI 9149) host. If these variables are checked to be published-network (in properties). They are accessible by VI running on the hosts of the same LabVIEW project, so you need to run a VI to access, as you mention. This is explained on the next page, Variable IO data custom FPGA of e/s (real-time Module or Module FPGA):

    https://zone.NI.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361H-01/lvioscanhelp/io_vars/#user_IOV

I did find a way without a host (host RT or Windows PC) running a VI. If you have a cRIO with RT and NPSV host in the RT VI it is possible.

  • shared variables does not

Hello, I'm writing because I'm having a problem with the use of shared variables. I am doing a project for College and I use the DSC for his shared variable function. The problem im having is that shared variables do connect it no more. I followed a document "Getting started with LabVIEW Datalogging and supervisory Control Module" and managed to build an IOServer and shared variables in accordance with the document to deploy successfully. It was a few days ago. Today when I opened the project file even shared variables would not connect. IM also having the same problem with other projects that I made over the weekend that worked, but do not work now.

Does anyone else have this problem?

    Hi Justin,

I am pleased to see that you are able to work with your LabVIEW installation now. 0x0000002A error message reported only in what concerns the communication between the shared variable engine and part mutual FUND of the DSC module is blocked.  This was usually resolved by inspecting the security settings Windows for the firewall, as discussed earlier.

As for your second question, it might be better to start a new post.  However, please specify what files you want to move and what wisely win. Where would you like the directory that is to be held and for what benefits?  If you are hoping to achieve a gain of performance or similar, there may be different approaches other than moving files.

    Kind regards

  • Shared variables, analysis engine and multiple targets

I'm looking for some general tips on my LabVIEW project structure.

The project consists of a laptop with LabVIEW, a connected joystick and a CompactRIO connected via ethernet. I ran the cRIO mode Interface FPGA, but a change in some things causes the project to have be moved to scan mode.

From now on, the code on the portable computer updates the shared variables on the cRIO and bed from the variables shared on the cRIO for surveillance. I want to shared variables on the cRIO because he will also need to work without the connected laptop. Before moving the cRIO for scan mode, I found that I had to first run the code of the laptop and then run the code cRIO, or shared variables would not release properly. Now that I spent to scan mode, I have to run the code cRIO first, and even then the shared vars do not properly communicate for more than a few seconds and are well laggier.

My ideal project solution is a system that can operate with or without the connected laptop and obviously do not have these questions shared variable. I would like the autostart code on the cRIO and ask the user to execute the code of the computer laptop, if necessary, but in the past, it doesn't seem to work with shared variables.

I'm really confused about why this is happening. I hope I explained my problem well enough. I really don't want to display the entire project here, but I can email to people if they are willing to take a look. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I'm under LabVIEW 2010 SP1 with FPGA, DSC modules and robotic in real time. I have the updated Feb 11 driver and NOR-RIO 3.6.0 installed and completed all updated on my RT cRIO.

I do this kind of thing all the time...

Move all your NSV libraries on the cRIO.  Of the project, you must deploy on the cRIO and then they are persistent until you reformat.

Your windows GUI application, you can set static NSV tags on the block schema or use the API SV dynamic R / w.  Also you can bind GUI controls and

indicators directly to the NSV cRIO (it's what I do) also I create a library of 'mirror' in the PC HMI that is linked to the library of cRIO.  This library has DSC Citadel

data record enable and automatically records the historical traces of all my important data - very nice.  Libraries hosted PC can be set to autodeploy in the version of the app.

the project also has an option of autodeploy to the development environment that normally, I turned off.  If you have a PC at the cRIO binding configuration so be careful

on any kind of autodeployment because this will eventually force the cRIO app stop when you deploy.  To work around this problem, you can use the PSP (IP address rather than project binding

process name) and use of the DSC deploy library s vi in your HMI application.  Once you use the scan engine, you can use the app DSM (Distributed System Manager) to view, DIF and

each of you IOV and NSV graphic on your network.

  • Problem with shared Variables

    Hello

I have a project that contains two VI: reading and writing, a shared library that contains a Boolean value (published on the network, type: Bool, alias uncheck).

In Write.vi (diagram), there is a block button and a shared var node related.

    The same thing in Read.vi

Aims to make the .exe working on another PC.

In the project, I created the program installation and application.

I try to run it on the second PC, but it does not work.

    Need help.

    AS2307,

Are your read and write screws both on the same computer as shared variables of accommodation?  Both of these screws are working on the development of your PC and they work as executables on your development PC?

It would be useful to know exactly what you did this works and what you have tried that does not work as it is has a few caveats with the help of executable actions variables as described in the article below.

  • Update of address of the card "shared Variable.

    Hello Experts!

I have a question about shared variables:

Now I create a variable Shared (81O_G01) in the library, and it is related to:

    My Computer\SVCREATION.lvlib\Modbus1\410611

Question is: How can I change this address SV (410611) when tha variable has already been opened?  is this possible?

    Thanks in advance!

    Anibal

    Hey Anibaldos,

Looks like you're trying basically change the binding of a /A1 to /A2 variables at run time. I think that there are a few options for this:

    (1) in LabVIEW DSC, you can access a hosted variable and change the link address by using a property node. If you run the server modbus on a windows machine, this is the best option. Otherwise, I'm guessing you don't have a DSC. If this is the case you can always edit links by editing the library manually, but it seems that this will not help you.

    (2) it may be possible to open a variable connection shared using pallets (Data Communication > shared Variable) to this specific address, to which cases you have no need to use the shared variable. You can simply open a connection to two addresses different modbus and read one or the other as needed.

    (3) if #2 does not work, then I think you can still use datasocket API to perform such an operation. There is a bit of research you need to do to use it (for example, URL editing and UI thread problems), but it does not work. In my opinion, this is the approach taken by this document: https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-13508 (I know from experience, you have to dig a little to find the screw, but they are there).

    (4) you can use the Ni Labs library: http://ni.com/labs

  • TPC-2012 cannot read the shared variable

    Hello

I have a TPC-2012 and can not read variables shared with him. I welcomed the shared on a cRio-controller Variable. On another PC, the variable is read correctly, but not on the tpc-2012. What can I do? No error message is displayed on the TPC-2012 (Windows CE 5). The PTC can not write values in a shared Variable.

    Thank you

    Christian

What LabVEIW Touch Panel version do you use? I don't know why static variables do not work correctly on your device. TPC-2012 comes with support preinstalled for shared variables, and it would be possible that it has been deleted or corrupted. Here are some steps you can follow:

Install the Support of shared Variables
How do we install the Support of Variables shared on the TPC-2012?

  • Pass a reference to the shared variable

I use two shared variables in a loop where I write one and read each other.  I need to repeat this loop 5 times, but each loop uses a different pair of shared variables.  These variables are shared between a vi on the computer and a cRio.

It would be ideal to incorporate this loop into a Subvi where I can pass a reference to the two shared variables in and then read and write in threw these references.  Then I could just call this Subvi 5 times, instead of copying and pasting the loop 5 times.

Is it possible that I can accomplish this?  I can't find an example that would achieve this.

    Thank you

If I understand correctly, you can use the mode programmatic access to shared Variables and it would work.
