VCB for a large file server

Hi all!

I'm testing different scenarios for backup and restore for my future VMs. everything works well so far, but I just hit a wall with my future file server.

I do all my VM backups using the backup options FullVM. In this way, I thin it is easier to create a document and say to Mr everyone how to restore from a major server crash.

The only problem is with the file server, I can't do a backup of FullVM because I don't have enough disk space on my proxy during installation. So the solution I have seen is to have the large vDisk in independent mode so this isn't snapshoted VCB and is do not climb on the proxy server when you perform the backup. Then I back up the disks of high capacity with the help of an agent on the virtual machine.

I tried to restore the virtual computer, then, have no problem at all, of course, I have to restore the second vDisk from scratch and restore the files to it. The main goal is to always keep the system state when you perform the backup. I don't want to have to rebuild the server, that's why I don't use backups of files.

This is a good way, or there at - it a better way to look at a big and a small proxy server.

Thank you!

Yes. It's the way you do it is fine. If the disc is in independent mode, you cannot not for her, so instant VCB. Anyway, the time you use VCB or the agent to back up the data files, your recovery steps are similar. If it works for you, do not change it.

  • Support of file server data store Provisioning

    I build a Win2012R2 file server.

    Datastore1 = 800 GB

    Datastore2 = 12 to

Datastore1 is taken. Datastore2 will have about 2 TB of space used for storage of copies of virtual machines. The rest is for file server.

What provision is recommended to use for a growing file server? Thick or thin?

Is it OK to grant MORE than Datastore2 space?

If other data on Datastore2 (other than the file server) begin to develop how the file server will make up the difference?

    Thanks in advance.

Unless any 3rd third-party tool can do it, you must re - initialize the disk system. In addition to this, you will need to edit the virtual machine boot options and change the firmware of the BIOS to EFI boot. Another option is to shrink the partition from the current system of the customer for example 100 GB and then create a second partition with a GPT partition table.

Please keep in mind that backup and - most importantly - recover from these large partitions consume considerable time, and it may be useful to plan several smaller if possible partitions.

  • scanning - too large files!

I have a HP OfficeJet J6480 All In One - when I scan a text of the document in PDF format, the file size is huge - a single page is at least 600Kb to 150 dpi - which makes for too large files to send, if you analyze 10 more pages. Is there a setting to change in order to reduce the file size while leaving the easily readable scan? Thank you

If you use HP's Center version 10, download a version of the photosmart c6380 12 software. Advanced installation to select custom settings. Check the box for the imagery of function of the device and the HP Solution Center, and then uncheck the rest. Select the type of USB connection. in the lower left corner, you will see a box that says "If you cannot connect the device...". Plug the device later... ', check this box.

  • Why not have transfer of larger files and function to keep Logo?

I tend to like most of the Adobe products and I actively get others to use Adobe products.  However, this product is not worth the headache - you want us to use it or not?  There is no legitimate reason for Adobe to have so many restrictions on this type of product, especially when none of your competitors has them.  The logo was the main reason I chose AdobeSendNow at the expense of others.  Although I have never happy to not be able to send files greater than 2 GB when competitors allow up to 20 GB.  In addition, why are there so many types of limited files? This type of service should be automatically including all current and known file types used by PC and Mac.  because of all of this, I am obliged to pay and use another service to do my work today.

I do not understand the logic of NOT respecting this than your competitors providing and noticed which includes end-users as most.  After reviewing the information, create a service that integrates and improves on all of these features, including the new features in Adobe original.  Now, Adobe should have a service that can easily be a product in this category.  It seems that whoever is responsible for this product/service does no sincere effort by creating a leading product.  This product has ceased to be an average product with some 'cool' features, for the worst product in its class.

I really hope someone at Adobe pays attention to these comments and upgrade Adobe send to a leader of the actual product.

Support for much larger files and sending brand has been added during the summer.

  • Assessment capabilities of Windows print server for a large company automated printing solution...

    Hello

I need a solution to print server for a large organization. Need your help in evaluating Windows print management for this purpose.

    The case:

A centralized system correspondence generation will produce a "zip of PDF files" to print in various branches around the world. I expect to send the zipOfPDF to a centralized, Windows print server. From there on, it should be forwarded to respective branch local windows print server. I expect the following system:

    1. the centralized windows print server must be able to read zipOfPDFs and associated metadata.

2 centralized windows print server must be able to route (spool) the zipOfPDF to respective branches (metadata will include details of the branch). (Indicate if the custom coding is necessary for her or can be supported out of the box?)

    3. local windows print server receive the zipOfPdf and extract the metadata.

    4. extract the zip file and extract the files PDF.

5 read the metadata and move to designated PDF printer files (metadata will be printer details)

6 set the priority of print according to the metadata set. (The metadata will be priority printing details).

    7. create a record/report after printing the zipOfPDF.

    Indicate if

    1. it can be supported by the Windows print server instead of first? What operating system/printing system will be necessary?

    2. If so, is - all of this can be supported by out-of-the-box configurations?

    3. If no, what any custom coding may be needed and technology?

4 propose a scheme of it if possible.

    Thank you and best regards,

  • Outlook Express to receive e-mail large file for 3 days of work

Someone sent me an email with a very large file (about 20 MB) and OE tried to receive this message for 3 days with no progress.  I can't send or receive any other emails until it has been received, or better still, deleted.  Help!

Just to add to the good advice of Brian, there is another thing you can do.

    Create a Message rule:

Where the message size is size
    Delete server
Click on size and place it for about 10 MB, and then click: Apply Now.

Return to the Inbox, and then click send/receive. This should get rid of the message.

Don't forget to go back to the rules of Message and either delete the rule, or uncheck it if you use it in the future.

  • Work on large files (TIFF) of the server in PS

Often work us on large (50 MB + TIFF) files in Photoshop directly from our server, I just want to be sure that thos is not proceed with execution of our server or Photoshop...

Ive always been advised to copy the file and working locally when working on large files is this best practice?

    Very appreciated

This is the standard text often used for saving to a network (NOTE the part where he explains that normally, it works, but it is impossible to solve someone else on the network remotely, and that's why he didn't is not supported by Adobe):

If you open files on a network, or saved on a network server, please cease and desist immediately in the case where you currently have problems with one or more files. On a network is not supported.

    See:

    http://kb2.Adobe.com/CPS/406/kb406793.html

Copy the local file CLOSED your server hard disk, work on it, again to save it on your local hard drive, close it and copy the closed file on the server.

Of course, the fact that Adobe does not support work on a network does not necessarily mean that it doesn't work.   It should be.

Adobe position is that there are too many variables in a network environment for them to ensure that everything will work properly in all systems, particularly in view of the fact that that something will not work properly, it is probably the fault of the network, and Adobe has no way of troubleshooting of your network.

If you are unable to work locally, you are yourself, and if something happens, you're on your own. If you work from a server, make sure that your network administrator is a competent professional.

When problems arise, much valuable work can be lost.

  • RTMP for large file

I want flash files continuously in the rtmp Protocol, but if the files are large the only possible protocol is HTTP (with his progressive download).

There is a way to reproduce the large file with the rtmp Protocol (I work with 30 MB file). If I try to reproduce the file with the RTMP protocol, they remain on hold without any error message.

    Thanks for any answers

If you want server the file on HTTP and RTMP, place the file in the webroot\vod folder. If you want to stream the file on RTMP only, place the file in applications\vod\media. You don't need to put the file in both folders.

Access the file with the same URL: rtmp://IP/vod/filename

If you place the file in the webroot\vod folder, use http://IP/vod/filename.flv to access the file.

With RTMP, don't not specify file extension ".flv" for FLV files. For MP4 files, use "mp4:filename.mp4". (or .f4v, .mov, etc.).

With HTTP, specify the file to FLV files extension. For MP4 files, use ' filename.mp4) (or.f4v, .mov, etc.).

  • format hard drive for windows and larger files, TV supports

    Hello

pls suggest me with the solution to the following problem.

I need to know what format of hard drive works with mac, windows, & TV too, even for large files and quality bluray movies

FAT32 only supports files up to a maximum size of 4 GB, which would be certainly much too small for Blu - Ray quality media.

exFAT supports files of unlimited size effectively, Mac and Windows can read and write to exFAT to format external drives but neither can boot from such a unit. If a TV or other system supports exFAT drives, you need to check yourself formatted.

NTFS supports files of unlimited size indeed, Mac can only read NTFS, it cannot format or write to NTFS, unless you get an add-on. Of course Windows supports NTFS. Again, you will need to check if your TV etc supports NTFS. If you want to add full support for NTFS to a Mac, I recommend this - https://www.paragon-software.com/home/ntfs-mac/

HFS + is the current format of Apple and new supports files of unlimited size effectively. Mac can of course read, write and format disks. Does not support the Windows as a standard HFS +, but still, you can buy an add-on for Windows Add this feature. It is extremely unlikely that a TV would support HFS +. If you want to add full support for HFS + for Windows, take a look at this - http://www.mediafour.com/software/macdrive/

There are also other formats of disc for example ZFS and BTRFS, Ext3, Ext4 and soon SATF, but in this case, they are not relevant.

Note: as indicated above, in many cases, I said 'actually unlimited', it is of course a limit, but one so great that he will strike you not for individual files, including Blu - Ray or even files UltraHD (4 k).

Recently, I have done a system restore and wiped out everything. I have a hard drive of 200G. I can only locate on 80-100 Gigs of files, but when I try to transfer a large file - say to itunes, the system tells me that there is not enough space on the hard drive? • New life for a Compaq Presario SR2038X as a file server

    Hello and thanks in advance.

The HD failed in SR2038X of my parents and I am the proud owner of a box filled with port, which I intend using as a server of inexpensive files with the following improvements:

    1. (2) 1.5 TB WD Cav Blk hard drives

    2 gigabit ethernet PCI card

    3 Ubuntu OS desktop

Normally, the RAM would be my first upgrade, but I don't think it's necessary for a file server (correct me if I'm wrong, because the RAM can be maxxed fairly inexpensively in this machine).

It comes, the MOTHER/CPU card will support these improvements? I'll have BIOS problems trying to install Ubuntu on a HP?

I found this thread helpful with specifications and comments on other upgrades, but I'm not sure what is meant by 'HP Tattoo':

Welcome to the forums. Your excellent links done much easiler to do this response.

What I don't understand not all Ubantu, it is a BONE in the foot. (limited knowledge).

Tattoo: The original box OEM OS (Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005) DVD + CD, as shown here:http://www.computersurgeons.com/SearchProducts.aspx?sbt=sr2038x&bkm=Results#Results

Settle only if the computer is 100% at the factory. Make changes, IE the motherboard, graphics card, and it becomes risky. http://www.PCTOOLS.com/Forum/showthread.php?56905-HP-tattoo-question-about-hard-drive-and-motherboard

But your does not do this, your installation of a new OS, not the OEM version which was tattoo'ed by the motherboard BIOS Eprom.

Be sure that google you 'Gigabit ethernet PCI ubantu pilot' and find the driver chipset that matches your selection of card.

I thank you for the challenge and hope I could help you.

Working with Windows 7. I'm trying to move files to other readers. . What is the work around whan "" the file is too large for the destination file system"is the error messages. Can it be fixed so you can move the files

Either there is not enough space on the destination or the size of the file is larger than the destination system can accept, for example FAT32 cannot have a file size more than 4 GB.
