  I created a VM w2k8 server. I have attached a second virtual drive to it in the vsphere client determined I gave him too much space. I went back in the vshere client and click on delete. Now, when I go to add a second drive with the right amount of space I want t use I get error not enough space on the data store. I noticed that the old file vdmk still exist but do not know how to proceed. It is a 5 ESX environment and the data store is on the SAN. Space on the windows server is listed as unallocated.

  Here's my problem. I have several virtual machines. But one of them can be powered on because of the problem of space. I can not add spaces because there is nothing to add.   There are several ways to approach this problem

  1. you can storage vmotion, some VMs who are currently used and this will free space.

  2. check the clichés that you don't use, and delete those.

  3. reduce the memory of some other virtual machines which are turned on so that the swap space can be saved.

  Hello, we are running VSphere and thin supply function is very useful because most servers have a small car footprint so we can get in a lot more servers on the storage available.

  Welcome to the community - the reason why you can't turn on your VM is because a vmkernel swap file is created when you turn on the virtual machine, and if there is not enough space, then, you will receive this error - you'll need clean the directories where are installed the virtual machines - you'll need to remove all of the log files If there are snapshots commit those and then you should be able to powere on virtual machines

  Go to the topology-> Oracle technology-> language (tab)-> delete quotes under object delimiter, and advance to the next field to ensure that the change is made, then save.

  You use a specific burning program to burn those files to a CD? I'll try a different CD or the brand of CDs. make sure you can open the files you want to burn and that the CD/DVD burner is free from dust.

  Maximum limit of 2048 VMs running also apply to the VMFS5 file system.

  For turning off VMs, I think you can take numbers vCenter and cluster up to 15000 registered VMs and VMs 4000 clustered...

• Data store sizes do not correspond to the sizes used all the vm

  Hey guys, I'm new in Vmware and I have a background of storage and I wonder if its correct what I see when I compare the total size of all the stores of data vs the 'space used' totals of all VMs running on these data stores.

  I see a total of 139 to on data warehouses with 33 to free space and when I add the vm used all space I have a totall TB 138. It's the size of all data stores!

  This seems not very accurate for me, I expect the total space used much lower. All the vm uses eager reset thick space.

  I hope someone can explain or confirm that they see similar things?

  For used space I exported the list of all the vm XL, cut in two the column space to separate the numbers from the gb / tb, changed all amounts of GB space and have XL add up the sum of all spaces.

  has given numbers for all of the ROW and that's the difference between data warehouses, I have seen and all the used vm space :-)

  But if I use a different assignment vdisk lun and on a new analysis of data store does not appear.

  What do you mean by vdisk1?  The data store are stored as metadata on the LUN, when is formatted VMFS.  If you remove the LUN the VMFS is sitting on, then Yes, the data store will disappear.  If you only remove the vmdk who lives on this data store, then no, the data store must remain as it is, and you should be able to move the vmdk on the data store as needed.

• Thin provision VMs does not only not with sVmotion

  Hello - I have a number of VMs who have changed their functions and things and have plenty of space I want to re - claim them. I did used sdelete - c for all readers and the BONE is visible all the free space. I have about 5 virtual machines that I do this with and up to 2 worked but 3 has not even after 2-3 sVmotions in another data store.

  Of course the 3 who do not work are greatest where I need more space in too, what is plan B if sVmotion does not work? Is there a reason why some virtual machines would work and some would not work? I need to recover the place of these virtual machines to complete the raid level migration, I'm trying to make.

  I confirm that I see the same behavior in my environment as well. Using Storage vMotion to another store of data with a different block size thin on the disc, but going to a store of data with the same block size is not...
