Not enough space on the data store. Could not power on VM:No space available on the device

Hello

Here's my problem. I have several virtual machines. But one of them can be powered on because of the problem of space. I can not add spaces because there is nothing to add. The data store is only 760 MB left. There is summary information about the virtual machine below. I need power somehow on this machine, but how can I do. can I add another data store space. Y at - it files I can delete from the data store. Snapshot file is considerably large, I can reduce its size without changing anything.

Thank you.

There are several ways to approach this problem

1. you can storage vmotion, some VMs who are currently used and this will free space.

2. check the clichés that you don't use, and delete those.

3. reduce the memory of some other virtual machines which are turned on so that the swap space can be saved.

  • Not enough space available on the disk without title

    Every time when I trie to install any creative cloud application, I get an error "not enough space available on the disk untitles-(30). There is no disc titled untitled and there is enough free space (50 GB).

    It happens on my Mac Mini and Mac Book Pro. The only similarity I can find, is that they have both a Kingston custom 60GB SSD.

    Does anyone have a solution to this problem, I already tried to change the location of installing a HARD drive.

    You're right, this isn't a problem downloading.

    It's a lack of space in / tmp (or/private/tmp). It is a silent place to stash huge to download files, but moving on... It's an easy fix.

    If you're set up with an SSD a popular board 'longevity' is the tmp in RAM or elsewhere to save some wear and tear.

    In expression, type "df - kh", if you see/private/tmp anywhere under "mounted on ' and the 'result' is not large (several concerts I assume), there is your problem.

    The most popular advice ramdisk (can not find the link right now) is to place a startup item to do this job and name "RamFS" or/System/Library/StartupItems/RamFS. Move it out or chmod 000 it temporarily, restart and install. You can replace the StartupItem subsequently (and restart).

I tried the solution required to the http://support.microsoft.com/kb/952272 account, but could not solve it? I use Windows 7 Home Basic Edition, OS, 4 GB of RAM to 64-bit. There is enough space available in the drive in which I am trying to trnsfer the .mkv file, almost more than 200 GB.

    Hello

    -Did you do changes on the computer before this problem?

    Step 1: I suggest to start the computer in safe mode and then try to transfer the file and check if it helps.
    Start your computer in safe mode
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode
    If the issue is not persistent, then follow the article to find the cause of the same thing.

    Step 2: Clean Boot Mode
    I suggest to maintain the computer in clean boot mode and check if the problem still persists. A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.
    You can read the following article to configure the computer to boot:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
    Note: After the troubleshooting steps, see step 7 in binding boot is a way of putting your computer to normal startup mode.

    The W10 installer you have is a Setup 32-bit/64-bit mixed and has one or more files that is larger than 4 GB. It does not fit on any drive formatted as FAT.

    As 2015 Macs do not support a USB Installer. They create an internal partition called OSXRESERVED and use to install only W8.1/W10.

    Can you download an ISO only 64-bit https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO and test?

  • Bay of Cluster data store turns into a string?

    I am very new to the vCO (or maybe I should call vRO now) and therefor also very new to script and digging through the API, so I apologize if this is a bit of a noob question.

    I'm currently running below script to find the data store cluster to a cluster host with more available space.

    However, I also want to check for the text in the name of the data store. For this I use indexOf.

    If indexOf detects all matches, it should add the DSC (or pod) in a table.

    But it seems that this operation turns my array into a string.

    Because it is a new environment I have only a DSC connected to the cluster hosts, but I still think that it should be able to be an array with a single value?

    Find the Cluster and related variables

    var hostarray = System.getModule ("com.vmware.library.vc.cluster") .getAllHostSystemsOfCluster (inCluster);

    Host = hostarray [0];

    pool = inCluster. ResourcePool;

    level of var = 'High';

    Find warehouses of data in Cluster

    var = host.datastore data warehouses;

    Find Clusters of Cluster data store

    var storagePods = new Array();

    var storagePodNames = new Array();

    for (d in data warehouses) {

    if (data [d].parent.vimType warehouses is "StoragePod") {

    if (storagePodNames.indexOf (datastores [d].parent.name) < = - 1). {

    storagePodNames.push (datastores [d].parent.name);

    storagePods.push (datastores [d] .parent);

    }

    }

    }

    System.log (' storagePods: ' + storagePods [0].) Summary.freeSpace);

    Find Clusters corresponding to the layer data store

    var podTierArray = new Array();

    for each {(var pod in storagePods)

         if (pod.name.indexOf (tier) > = 0) {

    podTierArray += pod;

    }

    }

    podTierArray becomes a string instead of table after above operation :(((

    System.log (' podTierArray: ' + podTierArray [0]);

    System .log (' podTierArray: ' + podTierArray);

    Here is the result of the above script:

    [12:24:27.307 2015-02-27] [I] storagePods: 4497773428736

    [12:24:27.308 2015-02-27] [I] podTierArray: D

    [12:24:27.310 2015-02-27] [I] podTierArray: DynamicWrapper (Instance): [VcDatastore]-[class com.vmware.vmo.plugin.vi4.model.VimDatastore] - VALUE: < datastore-386 > Datastore 'high Datastore01 '.

    I'm guessing that "D" is the first character in the string (which should be an array), which is also attested by the third row of the output when I print the entire string.

    Because this time is a string I can't use it as an object, for example "podTierArray. Summary.freeSpace' give me an error that it is a property not set.

    In addition, as you can see earlier when I use the variable ""storagePods "this is a picture I have run the podTierArray. "

    Why would he suddenly become a string instead of an array of objects?

    Hi Oskar,

    It happens because of this line in your code

    podTierArray += pod;

    This is not the right way to add the element in a table. You need to take it

    podTierArray.push(pod);

  • Not enough space on the data store

    I created a VM w2k8 server. I have attached a second virtual drive to it in the vsphere client determined I gave him too much space. I went back in the vshere client and click on delete. Now, when I go to add a second drive with the right amount of space I want t use I get error not enough space on the data store. I noticed that the old file vdmk still exist but do not know how to proceed. It is a 5 ESX environment and the data store is on the SAN. Space on the windows server is listed as unallocated.

    Hello and welcome to the community of VMware. Well I would like to browse the data store and make sure that there are no vmdk files sitting here that, if the other wise not to be there. Have a go at this and feedback your conclusions.

    Best wishes.

  • Not enough space on the store of data error

    I just created a new virtual machine and the data store has 1 GB free, but when I try to turn on the virtual machine, I get the error ' not enough space on the data error store '.

    What is the minimum data required to power the virtual computer space? I thought that 1 GB is a lot of space...

    That is also correct long as you do not have a defined reserve, because don't forget the size of the by vm vmkernel swap file is equal to the memory assigned to the virtual machine minus the reserve memory.

    If you find this or any other answer useful please consider awarding points marking the answer correct or useful

  • Not enough space on the data store.  Newb help please.

    I have a running ESXi 4.1.0 2 Windows VMs server.  Everything worked very well, but I had to turn off all of the server and physically move.  When I powered it back, only on virtual machines with the power on at the same time.  The other dies with the error above.  I have very little experience with VMware and I'd appreciate any help.  Thank you.

    Welcome to the community - the reason why you can't turn on your VM is because a vmkernel swap file is created when you turn on the virtual machine, and if there is not enough space, then, you will receive this error - you'll need clean the directories where are installed the virtual machines - you'll need to remove all of the log files If there are snapshots commit those and then you should be able to powere on virtual machines

  • provisiond data store space does not match with the space of the VMs

    Hi guys,.

    I have the particular phenomenon on my cVenter environment. Space brought into service on data warehouses does not correspond with the really used capacity of the virtual machines.

    Details:
    VCenter: VMware vCenter 6.0.0 3634793
    ESXi: ESXi 5.5.0, 3568722
    Storage: The Netapp Cluster Mode
    NFS data warehouses

    Virtual machines allocate more space such as assigned. It could be 100% more space. There are no files that are responsible for this in the data store. We have allowed efficiency of storage which means on the Netapp deduplication.
    In the opinion of vCenter - the data store has a provisiond about 1 TB space and really about 550 GB space (space of each unique virtual machine).

    You know this problem or something like that?

    Best regards

    Thanks for your replies, but it's a feature of Netapp called fractional reserve.

    This reserved feature 0% or 100% of the space.

    Has anyone experiences with the option of fractional reserve and volumes NFS for ESXi? What is the best value for this?

    Is it really "sort of" loading ie 42% or which is a total failure?

    OK, I have a build that WORKED, now I see what you mean about watching build/deploy the VM guest.

    Here is the solution to my problem: our vcenter uses names with spaces, we also use the domain names for our connections. In addition, each admin password was 'special characters', that I've debugged meticulously by ALL of them and much more. Basically, it did not matter that I have "URL" code things, used new tools or edited different scripts to encode things one way or another.

    What finally gave us successes was to go to a 'clean' Vcenter implementation that

    (a) use/did not require a domain name (not / credentials)

    (b) all had the "BACK original' legal names, IE no spaces, no special characters, etc..

    (c) the passwords contained NO "special characters".

    (because I changed this way, 'URL' encoding didn't work, tried it)

    Moral of the story: building a new, simply configured Vcenter or get one and use it.

    (Note: I even downloaded a new ovftool and tried every way that I could but it did not success)
