Vector smart object inside another dynamic object with loss of quality suite scale

Hello

I have 6 icons created in Illustrator and imported as vector smart objects.

Then, I select all 6 and create another object of Smart from there.

If I resized now this dynamic object, it loses it s quality, as if the icons are raster in the first place.

This is not what happened in PS CS5.

It s a bug or "novelty"?

Rodrigo C.

You must realize that Photoshop makes pixels for the embedded object then when you resize the smart object layer it evolve as and layer rasterizes by interpolation not reduced with vector graphics. His work of the layers the way smart object. His is a very old thread on the topic

  • Objects vector smart object - file format

What is the best file format to save a photoshop file that has a number of vector smart objects that will eventually print? File can be placed in illustrator or indesign prior to be expelled to the printer either as direct files or on the PDF.

Danny is correct: smart objects are STILL pixelated in resolution of the PSD, regardless of the format that you save it in.

If you want to print any dynamic objects with imported objects vector (illustrator?) to setter image max resolution, you must extract these objects in the PSD file and rebuild the design in Illustrator or InDesign.

It means that the smart object in question, which opens in Illustrator, and then save the file as a file HAVE editing. Remove the smart object in the PSD in Photoshop, then save a new version. Note the exact dimensions and positions. Open the file in InDesign and rebuild the original.

If the layer effects have been applied in Photoshop to a matter SO vector: no chance. You will need to generate layers separated in the best of cases, or begin to recreate the effects in Illustrator in the worst case scenario. Or a combination of both.

Vector shapes and the Type that were generated in Photoshop with effects applied to him may be problematic if the resolution of the PSD is insufficient. However, the outline remains vector while recording in Photoshop PDF format. Import the PDF into InDesign retains the sharp vector contour. Just make sure that the native resolution of the Photoshop document is high enough to produce a strong impression for effects (which will be pixels).

The problem is that a lot of designers decided to convert their photoshop vector shapes and text in smart objects - and this will rasterize the result, no matter what. And there is no easy way to "unsmart" a dynamic object.

A method (far from perfect) is:

    • Double-click the smart object to open it in a new window
    • Select all the layers in the .psb (dynamic object) that opens
    • Choose Layer > Group the menu
    • Hold down the SHIFT key and drag the window of smart objects to your original document with the move tool window.
    • Drag the icon fx the dynamic object for the new group of layers layer you just drag over
    • Remove the smart object layer.

The only caveats to this method are scale and positioning. You may have to reposition some groups according to their interaction with the edges of the original document. And if you scale the smart object layer, you may need to scale of the group as well.

Here is a script that automates some of this: http://blog.kam88.com/en/expanding-smart-objects-script.html

This will ONLY work with SOs that were created in Photoshop.

Dynamic objects are bothersome creatures indeed. Much too easy for designers unknowing to destroy the intent of vectors and difficult and potentially very tedious to undo in a news environment.

The problem is that a lot of users tend to abuse of Photoshop as a request to print 'all-in-one' layout

  • What happened to the automatic editing vector smart object function?

    Photoshop has been recently updated,

in Photoshop previous app when the layer double click on a dynamic object that were made with copy/paste from illustrator, illustrator open editing automatically, now I get this message:

    Windows 7 operating system.

How can someone drag a layer to illustrator?

    It does not work

bring this function please... :-), this feature is necessary

is it something to do with the preferences of the application?

    Thanks in advance

If you pasted as a smart object with the option 'Add to my current library' enabled, I think that Photoshop will use the version of the library.

Uncheck the option 'Add to my current library' to get the old way back.

  • Vector smart object is rendered wrong.

Has anyone cross a problem when pasting of the complex vector smart objects in Photoshop CC?

I created a form in Illustrator CC, it adds an extrude and bevel effect and then pasted as a smart object in Photoshop CC. The first example of what it looks like in Illustrator CC, the second is that it sticks like in Photoshop CC.
As you can see, it's making it very difficult and totally unusable as a smart object.

    before_after.jpg

I've recently updated to CC, and it never happened in CS5. Is there a new CC preference that can reproduce the vector objects? Maybe something I cut by accident?

    Thank you

    Mike

Photoshop is made just as Illustrator in the PDF or EPS file.

And the rendering quality has greatly improved since CS5.

But Photoshop can use Illustrator puts in the PDF or EPS file (written Illustrator it's own private data of institutions - which is what it works with for editing).

  • Paste a vector smart object in Photoshop

I was wondering if anyone knew a way to paste a vector smart object from illustrator into photoshop without the forthcoming dialog box which you accept the size/place of the object.

I am able to do this using the code of the scriptlistener plugin spit but not without it. Unfortunately, I do turn a few problems with the help of the code the scriptlistener spit so I was wondering if anyone knew a way to do without that.

    Thank you!

The only other way I can think of is to use...

    app.activeDocument.paste ();

Call an external program to send an enter in Photoshop.

  • The Vector Smart Objects open in Illustrator

This was good work but after recently update to Photoshop the connection "Photoshop > Illustrator" together seem to be broken. Whenever I try to double-click a vector smart object in the layers panel, I get this (instead of automatically open in Illustrator as before):

    ps2.jpg

Very annoying. I'm on PC. Help!

  • vector smart object in photoshop

I swear im not a fool, but here I am with another problem...

OK im with illustrator, but not good at all with photoshop.

I'm illy card and you want to put in photoshop to add the final texture.

It's the standard business card size, effect of mosaic type with type. not very complicated.

I have copy and place it in photoshop as a smart object vector and it comes out pixelated beyond belief.

I rechecked that anti-aliasing and AICB/PDF are checked on. If I save it as PNG file it seems to work, but that seems like an unnecessary step...

I use Illy CS5 photoshop CS4, if that matters.

    any ideas?

  • Smart object with the symbol of the cloud - cannot change

I am pasting work in illustrator into photoshop, as I have always done, expects a dynamic object.

But now, he's got a symbol of the cloud and when I double click, he said he "is not directly editable.

    I don't understand

    (a) why it uses a library of clouds when I only treat the files on my computer

    (b) how to avoid this and have smart objects well once again

    help please!

    Hi Helen,

    This looks like progress.

CC libraries now create linked objects when you add them.

This means that if you just drag them to a document, you cannot edit them directly on the document (such as a linked image).

If you Alt (or Option) make them slide to a document, you can change them, but they are no longer bound to the library.

If you double click on the preview of the library will open the original and be able to edit the linked object, all the places where it has been used will indicate the new version.

Limitation (and the difference with the chip has been used for objects) is that you can change the original when you double-click it in the library of the application that has made and added to the object.

But it is easy to see that the app is the subject of the library, you can see a bit of AI or Ps after the name in the library.

  • Why CC 2015.1 allow me to work with the vector Smart Objects?

Since the update, I was unable to use the dynamic vector objects to switch between Photoshop and Illustrator. I can bring things manually, one to the other, but I don't like having to relocate my vectors whenever I need to change. This seems to be a step backwards if Adobe has intentionally disabled this.

I double click on the vector layer in Photoshop and she usually opens in Illustrator, I rather get a "Script alert" which said "it is not directly editable in Photoshop, but it can be placed in a document. To move the item, drag and drop it into an open document. "Like I can't drag and drop a layer in Illustrator to make changes, that is not really do me much good.

If anyone has any information on how to resolve this problem on a PC which would be amazing,

    Thank you!

  • Try to change the vector smart object of PS (made with Illstrator CC2014). Nothing happens. Cannot select, zoom in or do anything.

Update more. Has started working, and... I can't change my vector stuff.

    Splendid!

This is the same problem with updates.

Problems with opening the files in the new version of Illustrator.

  • vector smart object to HAVE is blurred

I'm including the design elements vector in Illustrator objects so that I can update them quickly when needed. The problem is that they vector objects, seen inside hiking, are a little more blurry than the equivalent of photoshop. No idea why?

I understand that the dynamic object is rasterized. I have to do something for my photoshop document to see it in its final State made? Photoshop elements are pixelated, so I don't know what is happening.

On the attached photo, the upper element is in illustrator, while the bottom is the same inside photoshop. Thank you.

in Illustrator, make sure that you have seen-> preview pixelated selected to see exactly how the image will appear. Features of Illustrator tend to blur when saved out for the web is usually a good idea to not use them at all. Instead, add an another fill under the current, select it in the appearance Panel and then go to effect-> Path-> delay of path to resemble a stroke. Also, go to overview pixelated and move your works of art a little so that it aligns with the pixel grid

  • Vector Illustrator to Photoshop Smart objects is more editable...?

I've just updated my CC and experiencing some weird behaviors between Illustrator and Photoshop. I always start in Illustrator to make my designs (logos, etc. for the vector art) and then build in Photoshop for brochures and other media. I always copied and pasted as smart objects (from Illustrator into Photoshop) and production wise, this is a quick easy workflow - I can go back and change my smart objects by clicking twice if necessary changes.

However, after update CC two days ago, I feel something I've never seen. When I paste the graphic Illustrator (such as a smart object) I can no longer double-click the layer to edit in Illustrator - I am panic and need help! What they have done or what has changed? It's ruining my workflow and I would really appreciate the help. The alert script error I get when I double click on the vector smart object is "this element is not directly editable in photoshop, but it can be placed in a document. To move the item, drag it into an open document. "Why I'm doing this and why they would change?

    Help, please

The interest to place the vector in Photoshop is not hunting for the dynamic object - it is much too long and then go back to Illustrator. It is a step in the wrong direction, and I can't believe that others are not upset. I would not have updated if I had known this - now my production is at a standstill immensely. Is there a way to express my concerns?

Your first message is at odds with your last. You said in your first post that you double-click to edit a vector pasted in Photoshop into Illustrator. Then you say you want to go back to Illustrator and "hunt for the object."

As long as you have the option "add to my current library" unchecked when pasting, it should work as before. Is there something I'm missing here?

  • Photoshop - artifacts on Vector Image smart object

    Hi people,

This is my first post. There may be a response to this somewhere on the forum already, but I can not just understand the search terms to use because the question is so specific.

I have an image that has been live traced in Illustrator, then placed in a Photoshop document. The photo was traced to the highest possible fidelity in order to maintain the good detail. It was traced from an image of 72 DPI in order to raise the quality of a print run of 300 ppi. The problem I have is with the anti-aliasing in the dough or the place function (it happens to be) in Photoshop. I copied the part of the vector image and moved the opposite side of the object, as it was necessary for the design and then grouped it upward with the main object. In the image below, I circled the part copied in red:

    RGPUe49.jpg

All sounds good in Illustrator, but when I paste or place it in Photoshop with active anti-aliasing, then a plethora of imperfections arise as wavy lines grey in passing a copy of the vector image, which I hope you will see below:

    YO8isvP.jpg

If it is difficult to distinguish, simply compare the flowers duplicated on top left of the image of the original on the right of the image.

If I turn off anti-aliasing at the image collage/placement, then these grey imperfections disappear, but the mix of colors and the edges of the leaves and flowers become jagged black background. To this end, I need to have the anti-aliasing feature enabled at the time of the image in Photoshop to maintain high image quality I'm after. The final image below shows what happens to the color of fusion when I do not use anti-aliasing:

    xv0DXfw.jpg

I hope someone can tell me what I'm missing here. The problem affects only the part a copy of the vector image. I guess this is where lies the answer, and so must be something that I have to change/do with the original in Illustrator vector so that it copies all information correctly; I don't know what it is that I need to change.

    Thanks in advance, people.

    Ben

Update: I managed to find a solution, even if I can't always work on what caused the problem in the first place.

The solution was to duplicate the vector smart object containing the flowers (circled in red in the first frame in OP) I duplicated originally from extended trace. I suspect it's just a quirk with anti-aliasing when you work with vectors in Photoshop. I can't be certain if.

  • File > Place, but not as a smart object?

You can file > Place and Image without a smart object layer?

Leaving as dynamic object is usually the way to go, but if for some reason you won't a dynamic object you can always use: layer: pixelation: Smart Object.

A problem with the dynamic vector objects is that vector data does not appear in the output of Photoshop. Which means that if a document has vector smart objects and you save as PDF, the SO ends as pixels in the output PDF (check by opening the PDF with Acrobat and zoom)

You don't have the ability to copy vector data, and then paste as paths or shape layers. It is wrought with complications, but it can give the output vector.

Is it possible to make a layer into a smart object so that no matter how I change (distortion, graduation etc) it does not change the quality of the image?

    Interesting question...

You can retrieve features "smart objects" with the elements Add on affordable +:

    http://elementsplus.NET/

The default whan you drag another picture opened in the photobin in your working file is to create a smart layer.

If your layer already has been simplified and modified,

I think the following workflow might do what you want.

-make the source layer the one selected in the layers palette (Alt click on the eye)

    -File / duplicate

-back to the original file and display all layers

-from the photobin, drag the new copy to the original file, it will appear as a smart layer.
