Photoshop - artifacts on Vector Image smart object

Hi people,

This is my first post. There may be a response to this somewhere on the forum already, but I can not just understand the search terms to use because the question is so specific.

I have an image that has been live traced in Illustrator, then placed in a Photoshop document. The photo was traced to the highest possible fidelity in order to maintain the good detail. It was traced from an image of 72 DPI in order to raise the quality of a print run of 300 ppi. The problem I have is with the anti-aliasing in the dough or the place function (it happens to be) in Photoshop. I copied the part of the vector image and moved the opposite side of the object, as it was necessary for the design and then grouped it upward with the main object. In the image below, I circled the part copied in red:

RGPUe49.jpg

All sounds good in Illustrator, but when I paste or place it in Photoshop with active anti-aliasing, then a plethora of imperfections arise as wavy lines grey in passing a copy of the vector image, which I hope you will see below:

YO8isvP.jpg

If it is difficult to distinguish, simply compare the flowers duplicated on top left of the image of the original on the right of the image.

If I turn off anti-aliasing at the image collage/placement, then these grey imperfections disappear, but the mix of colors and the edges of the leaves and flowers become jagged black background. To this end, I need to have the anti-aliasing feature enabled at the time of the image in Photoshop to maintain high image quality I'm after. The final image below shows what happens to the color of fusion when I do not use anti-aliasing:

xv0DXfw.jpg

I hope someone can tell me what I'm missing here. The problem affects only the part a copy of the vector image. I guess this is where lies the answer, and so must be something that I have to change/do with the original in Illustrator vector so that it copies all information correctly; I don't know what it is that I need to change.

Thanks in advance, people.

Ben

Update: I managed to find a solution, even if I can't always work on what caused the problem in the first place.

The solution was to duplicate the vector smart object containing the flowers (circled in red in the first frame in OP) I duplicated originally from extended trace. I suspect it's just a quirk with anti-aliasing when you work with vectors in Photoshop. I can't be certain if.

Is it possible to do it in 1-2 clicks? Not just manually edit each image smart object, but simply download new file, then it will be done automatically?

  • Thumbnail of the smart object not to launch Illustrator

    Hi guys,.

I have noticed what seems to be a bug on my PC, when you use CreativeCloud. "When I double click on the thumbnail of the smart object in Photoshop instead of him launch Illustrator (the place of the dynamic object was created), Photoshop displays a window titled" PDF "Import '." " The process of making works perfectly on my Macbook, but on my PC, it appear this error.

My process is: Illustrator open > creative vector > copy Vector > paste into Photoshop > paste it as a smart object > find layer > Double click on thumbnail of the smart object... After this step, it will normally begin Illustrator but it currently opens the 'import PDF' UI, which then opens the file in Photoshop as a file rasterised.

Any of you have a fix for it?

    Thank you

It seems that the operating system does not associate with Illustrator .ai files correctly.

You will need to set the OS for files association I launch Illustrator.

  • Action to replace the contents of a smart object

I use CS5/PS to create a collage created multiple images (smart object layers) that I've positioned using clipping masks.

I would like to be able to replace the content of the images, which I can do via layer > smart objects > replace contents..., but I would like to have an action for a process of 'one-click' instead of three clicks.  Problem is, when I try to record the action, it forces me to complete replacement, and then the action gets wired to replace the image used in the 'record' action and therefore does not allow me to select which image I'd like to use.

This feature is available in PS Elements, so I think it's possible.  I don't know that miss me something pretty basic, I do not know what!

    Thanks in advance,

  • Vector Illustrator to Photoshop Smart objects is more editable...?

I've just updated my CC and experiencing some weird behaviors between Illustrator and Photoshop. I always start in Illustrator to make my designs (logos, etc. for the vector art) and then build in Photoshop for brochures and other media. I always copied and pasted as smart objects (from Illustrator into Photoshop) and production wise, this is a quick easy workflow - I can go back and change my smart objects by clicking twice if necessary changes.

However, after update CC two days ago, I feel something I've never seen. When I paste the graphic Illustrator (such as a smart object) I can no longer double-click the layer to edit in Illustrator - I am panic and need help! What they have done or what has changed? It's ruining my workflow and I would really appreciate the help. The alert script error I get when I double click on the vector smart object is "this element is not directly editable in photoshop, but it can be placed in a document. To move the item, drag it into an open document. "Why I'm doing this and why they would change?

    Help, please

The interest to place the vector in Photoshop is not hunting for the dynamic object - it is much too long and then go back to Illustrator. It is a step in the wrong direction, and I can't believe that others are not upset. I would not have updated if I had known this - now my production is at a standstill immensely. Is there a way to express my concerns?

Your first message is at odds with your last. You said in your first post that you double-click to edit a vector pasted in Photoshop into Illustrator. Then you say you want to go back to Illustrator and "hunt for the object."

As long as you have the option "add to my current library" unchecked when pasting, it should work as before. Is there something I'm missing here?

  • How to make the placed images/vectors remain within the boundaries of a smart object?

    Hi all.

I have a question which I think has a simple solution, but it is difficult to find.

I have a photo from a greeting card with rounded corners. I made the greeting card in shape a dynamic object... I want to drop my vector art of cards in the smart object to create easy shots for a website (model model style).

My problem is this: when I stick my chart in the psb to smart object document, it remains within the limits of the object dynamic when I save it and return to the document .psd. for example if I fit my larger vector art, there will be a great vector art saved in the original psd rather than inserting in this "round card window. What I am doing wrong, that my account will be not cropping correctly? Same thing with if I try to add textures, they do not stay within the smart object... I'd appreciate your help with a simple solution. Some pictures below.

    Thank you

    2. the vector art. I paste in the dynamic object of psb document... Yet when I save the smart object and check related DSP, graphic design is great and not cropped within the smart object.

I have resorted to copy my smart object layer, drag it to the top and deleting a selection reverse... but there must be a much easier way!

Well,'re missing you a layer mask or a clipping mask to crop the content of coverage.

I would use a clipping mask, which makes life easier than a layer mask. As follows:

  • Paste a vector smart object in Photoshop

I was wondering if anyone knew a way to paste a vector smart object from illustrator into photoshop without the forthcoming dialog box which you accept the size/place of the object.

I am able to do this using the code of the scriptlistener plugin spit but not without it. Unfortunately, I do turn a few problems with the help of the code the scriptlistener spit so I was wondering if anyone knew a way to do without that.

    Thank you!

  • vector smart object in photoshop

I swear im not a fool, but here I am with another problem...

OK im with illustrator, but not good at all with photoshop.

I'm illy card and you want to put in photoshop to add the final texture.

It's the standard business card size, effect of mosaic type with type. not very complicated.

I have copy and place it in photoshop as a smart object vector and it comes out pixelated beyond belief.

I rechecked that anti-aliasing and AICB/PDF are checked on. If I save it as PNG file it seems to work, but that seems like an unnecessary step...

I use Illy CS5 photoshop CS4, if that matters.

    any ideas?

  • Objects vector smart object - file format

What is the best file format to save a photoshop file that has a number of vector smart objects that will eventually print? File can be placed in illustrator or indesign prior to be expelled to the printer either as direct files or on the PDF.

Danny is correct: smart objects are STILL pixelated in resolution of the PSD, regardless of the format that you save it in.

If you want to print any dynamic objects with imported objects vector (illustrator?) to setter image max resolution, you must extract these objects in the PSD file and rebuild the design in Illustrator or InDesign.

It means that the smart object in question, which opens in Illustrator, and then save the file as a file HAVE editing. Remove the smart object in the PSD in Photoshop, then save a new version. Note the exact dimensions and positions. Open the file in InDesign and rebuild the original.

If the layer effects have been applied in Photoshop to a matter SO vector: no chance. You will need to generate layers separated in the best of cases, or begin to recreate the effects in Illustrator in the worst case scenario. Or a combination of both.

Vector shapes and the Type that were generated in Photoshop with effects applied to him may be problematic if the resolution of the PSD is insufficient. However, the outline remains vector while recording in Photoshop PDF format. Import the PDF into InDesign retains the sharp vector contour. Just make sure that the native resolution of the Photoshop document is high enough to produce a strong impression for effects (which will be pixels).

The problem is that a lot of designers decided to convert their photoshop vector shapes and text in smart objects - and this will rasterize the result, no matter what. And there is no easy way to "unsmart" a dynamic object.

A method (far from perfect) is:

    • Double-click the smart object to open it in a new window
    • Select all the layers in the .psb (dynamic object) that opens
    • Choose Layer > Group the menu
    • Hold down the SHIFT key and drag the window of smart objects to your original document with the move tool window.
    • Drag the icon fx the dynamic object for the new group of layers layer you just drag over
    • Remove the smart object layer.

The only caveats to this method are scale and positioning. You may have to reposition some groups according to their interaction with the edges of the original document. And if you scale the smart object layer, you may need to scale of the group as well.

Here is a script that automates some of this: http://blog.kam88.com/en/expanding-smart-objects-script.html

This will ONLY work with SOs that were created in Photoshop.

Dynamic objects are bothersome creatures indeed. Much too easy for designers unknowing to destroy the intent of vectors and difficult and potentially very tedious to undo in a news environment.

The problem is that a lot of users tend to abuse of Photoshop as a request to print 'all-in-one' layout

  • How to avoid the transparent background, white in smart object (psb) conversion when the image track high fidelity that we have the ability to ignore track of white up to 16 colors.

I have an image psd file in photoshop cc 2014 the layer background transparent. I wanted to convert to vector. The best option I've seen was converted first to a smart object in photoshop by layer-> Smart objects-> convert to smart object. then he exported a CPS. Then I opened the file in illustrator and applied image tracking tool, but the background transparent got converted to white but I had the option to skip white up to 16 trace of color. But in the case of Conversion of high fidelity, the option do not know white is not available, what do I do now?

After using the Trace of the Image and expand the result, just find a part that is filled with white and use Select > same > fill and just delete.

  • Photoshop: Edit a linked smart object in Illustrator

I've created a few vector shapes and text in Illustrator and paste in Photoshop as a vector object smart. I re - uses these elements, so I the converted to a linked smart object. Awesome. But now, when I double-click items in Photoshop to edit in Illustrator, the linked file just opens preview (I use Mac OS). It is possible to manually edit the linked file by double-clicking it in the Finder and selecting open in Illustrator. It is possible but not very effective. Converted into a dynamic linked object removes the ability to quickly open/edit my Photoshop vectors?

Yes, it removes only the ability. To be able to do what you want, you must integrate the smart AI object in your file. It is inefficient.

  • vector collage as smart object

I use CC 2015. I used to be able to copy a vector object from Illustrator and paste it into Photoshop as a smart object. So if I wanted to edit the smart object, double click on the layer it would open in Illustrator, I modifier edit in Illustrator, save it, and it updated in Photoshop. This workflow seems to be as gone with the wind. How can I get Photoshop works like it used to - double click on the layer and the opening automatically in Illustrator vector?

  • Why not transform the work? I'm doing a simple resize a smart object, and I constantly have problems. do not transformation. I had this same problem on several images and I've just updated to the latest

I had frequent problems trying to resize the smart objects - I am unable to use the transformation. I had this problem on several images. I had some success by restarting Photoshop CC and Windows, but this does not always solve the problem. Is this a known issue? It's really annoying. I had this problem before the last update, and it continued after the most recent update.

  • Photoshop CC on CS6 to open and maintain smart-objects

    Hello!

Is it possible to open a Photoshop CC file linking psb files it contains on Extended CS6?

I tried this and apparently all smart objects are somewhat pixelated automatically.

There is a warning tho and he says 'this document contains unknown data that will be scrapped to keep editable layers. To keep the original appearance instead, choose Flatten to load composite data as a flattened image. "to keep the layers, cancel and flatter to choose buttons

And when I click the button keep layers, I found that all smart objects are pixelated.

I see tho on the file .psd files.

    Please advice.

No, CS6 isn't the feature to link smart objects, so they are pixelated. You have to open them in a CC version that connects SOs then incorporate him bound in order to be able to open them in CS6.
