  You don't mention what you are on, the platform which sometimes questions, but that's.

  First, you could try harder to identify the font. I know you tried here, and use WhatTheFont, but failing those, "police ID" forum on Typophile.com is your best bet. This is where I go when I can't identify a font myself (which doesn't happen often, but from time to time).

  If you can not ID the police and really want to make a new... Well, two concerns:

  (1) with effect with vectors of a another font may well violate copyright (depending on the software) of the original font. Leastways, that's how I read the decision of the judge Whyte in summary judgment since Adobe vs. SSI. But I am not a lawyer, just warning you that there could be a question of law.

  (2) unless your time is not worth much, probably the most cost-effective way to do this would be to simply pay some geek of the police to do it for you. Research, installation of software and learning what to see and do things no doubt will take four hours or more, and then you've probably still not optimal work and it will not be rendered as if someone had it right at a time. I would probably $80 for a job like this, if it was me work, and EPS files or some format, I can easily open and convert. (I hope there are people who would charge less, btw.) I have a great day job and so I only take parallel projects that really interest me and/or pay my usual rate of consultation, usually both.)

  That being said, if you want to rebuild a police force with just these 14 glyphs in there, by yourself and want to know what are your software options:

  First of all, you know that any given program has an itinerary for you to get these vector graphics in and do it while keeping the consistent scale. If I had to, I would probably open them all in Illustrator or something like that and stick them in there in FontLab. If you don't have Illustrator, you may need to find another route, or it could mean to experiment and discover what works for your particular software combination...

  Something like 90% of the development of professional fonts today through FontLab Studio 5. But it costs $649 and has so many features that it is more than a little intimidating for a new user. I like it, but would hesitate to recommend you or anyone else learn to use it for such a small task, unless you expect to more fonts design or production work in the future.

  Fontographer (also owned by FontLab Ltd.) is a lot easier to use option, and the bells and whistles, it lacks certainly does not matter for this purpose. It costs $399.

  TypeTool is also made by FontLab Ltd. and costs $99. It is pretty easy to use, too. Probably the healthier option of mind, I think that, if you do it yourself.

  FontForge is an alternative open source, which means FREE, hurrah! BUT... unless you are in Linux it does not use a standard UI on your computer, but instead runs in Unix (X - 11 on Mac) or a shell Unix-like (CygWin under Windows). Side Windows which is to install an additional environment on top of Windows. It is just as powerful and complicated to use as FontLab, after you go through the hassle of the he get up and running.

  There are also HighLogic FontCreator under Windows, I don't know enough about to have an opinion on. It is hardly on the radar of the developers of professional fonts, most of the time. $199 for editing professional and $79 for the home edition (who said it's "not for commercial purposes").

  If you have done something in Adobe Illustrator and save you a vector format - but the images of pixelbased you put in your document remains pixels.

  Vector formats are a mathematical description of the drawing - and does not depend on the resolution of the printer. Format bitmap or pixel is just that - a lot of pixels with each pixel information. If you get a pixel image you do not get more pixels, and at one point given, you will be able to see the pixels. which means that your image looks bad.

  If you 'pens and cups' means you have printed a logo on these objects, I can understand that they say "vector formats" (e.g. freehand or illustrator) because they have probably been cases of beeing handed a pixel in the image of a Web site as an original. These originals have too low resolution to print well. Screen resolution is most often 72 pixels per inch, or lately 94 (?) pixels per inch. To get a clean line in professional printing you need around 1000 pixels per inch in the right size. The Adobe logo at the top of this page is 39 x 64 pixels - if you want to use a picel picture in the size see you for printing, that it would take about 500 x 800 pixels.

  Illustrator IS vector format. EPS vector format IS. Both can hold and display bitmap. GIF, jpg, tif, bmp etc. are pixel formats. PDF = Format of Description of printer, an advancement of the eps and uses all types of images.

• Text to outlines - but does not smooth when recording in jpg or png format

  Just started with Illustrator and while it is easy to change the text to text outline (making vector), when it comes to the economy as long as .jpg or .png, I find that there looks like pixels. Can someone tell me why it is not stay as a vector? Please see the attached picture.

  I've used other programs that convert text to vectors...

  A small correction of terminology:

  A "vector" is a direction. Don't refer to a path like "vector" or on a plurality of paths in the form of "vectors". Paths (more precisely, cubic Bezier curves) are what you are drawing with Illustrator.

  Type > order vectorize not "convert to vectors." The glyphs in fonts on your system already include traced. That is why they can be set on any size and not become jagged with zoom. But they reside at the level of the system and are "called" by the programs in which you use them. Type > order vectorize retrieves just the traces which are already included in the police and converts them (if any, as with quadratic Bezier curves in TrueType) to native Illustrator of traces of Bézier used cubic. Subsequently, they no longer alive text called for a font file. they are just normal paths in the Illustrator file.

  So, the goal to convert text into paths (as some programs call it) is not not to transform the glyphs for text in traces. they already are. The goal is actually "copy" the traces that are contained in the police and the plop on the page.

• Drawing vectorization technique

  I'm new to Illustrator - so apologies for what is probably a basic question! I'm scanning of simple components on a technical drawing. Here's the line drawings - closed contours (for example, the outline of the cross section of an airplane wing). I try to use Illustrator to convert the vector jpg scan form - save the result as a .dwg file. I am so that import into SolidWorks where I'm trying to extrude the shape of the part before 3D printing.

  In Illustrator, I use vectorization to create the vector representation. However I find that the vector representation seems to take the form of a number of vector representations. segmented. So, in SolidWorks I can obviously not extrude the component.

  Are there additional steps in Illustrator should I use to clean up/unify the vector representation? Your help would be greatly appreciated...

  Vectorization is usually a REALLY difficult interpretation of the object. Best practice would be to trace it with the pen tool. I understand that that's intimidating if you are new to the program.

  I have about 20 different company logo in color, and the original file is a jpeg. I have converted all sucesfully color vectors, however, I now want to convert all vectors of the single line.

  I downloaded an image of what image I have (in color), and the other black outlines are the result I want to achieve.

  I played a bit with vectorization, but I do not see how to get fair 'contours' or to change the type of line.

  Manual tracing is not really an option because there is not a lot of logos and they all vary in style and complexity.

  Expand the vectorization, and then apply the stroke and fill you need.

  Take a look at sites like brandoftheworld.com to get the best quality of the vectors.

  But normally you should get your customer logo. If you use their logo without permission, you could get into trouble.

• Conversion PSD vector object drawing

  I did some drawings of characters of cartoons in Photoshop. In which case it is important, they drew with a Wacom tablet, black lines, with the color inside the lines.

  Is it possible to convert these characters to editable vector objects in Illustrator CS5? And if so, is there a dummy tutorial?

  (I tried to use the trace function, but it converted characters to objects that have all the points that I could change.)

  I would be perfectly happy if I could just bring in Illustrator black lines and add color to the cartoon characters, once the black lines have been converted to vectors... but trace keeps filling the inside of the drawings to the related with white. For example, if I have a layer with nothing else that a line of black circle, then tracing was going to turn into a black circle with white on the inside.

• Evil created vector files.

  I had several problems with badly built and same .ai/.eps files images converted to vector format using Live Paint/Image drawn. Many which make it really difficult or is no longer useful, that I can not determine until after I downloaded the file under license. A rating and review scope would be very useful. And if the contributor receives enough bad reviews that all submissions must be pulled until it has corrected the problem. If not a rating and review field then some screenshots of the work should be held as a wireframe view and the image of the sample must have a roller on enlarge to a very detailed close-up. Not only is it frustrating manage files like these and some even become useless, but badly built vector almost always has a significantly higher number of anchors as necessary which creates unnecessarily large files that will work with slow and frustrating.

  It is not a function "vector record ' in the screenshot.

  You use the versions of creative cloud of our desktop applications? Files you create with Capture CC are saved in a library in Capture and this same library will be accessible from desktop CC applications. If you import the shape in Illustrator CC, this is where it can be saved as a .svg.

  I think that the first three steps in this tutorial (Capture of forms to use Illustrator |) Adobe Creative cloud Mobile Apps tutorials ) may be useful. It describes the process of capture on iOS (let me know if you are on Android and I can send you these steps).
