Verification of Time Machine

I recently got a message that says that as audit had discovered errors, it is necessary to make a completely fresh backup!

As I am backup on an external hard drive attached to a supreme Airport (old style cases) I guess I could: -.

(1) remove the HD, run DiskUtility on and/or

(2) use the NAME alone

Am I right to assume that either option would require a full backup according to what has been found by DiskUtility?

To be a race of warrior drive on the external HD enable the Machine time to continue normally?

I think you mean airport Extreme not supreme.

The old style model is NOT supported by Apple to make backups TM... only the new version.

The existing backup is damaged because of the fact that Apple does not support backups on this model... and the experience of the people here is that no matter what others may say that it should not be reliable.

You can plug the hard drive directly into the computer and try a repair... It is unlikely that the results will be enough to fix it.

You can use airport extreme as a sure wireless router... That's what it was designed for... not TM backups.

To be a race of warrior drive on the external HD enable the Machine time to continue normally?

No, Warrior of the drive is to recover deleted files... TM will remove the files are corrupted. They need to be repaired or deleted.

There is the command-line TM remedies.

Especially the final result does not work after a few days, but may be tempted.

The opinion of pondini on the issue.

There are many, many discussions on corrupt backups of TM.

Re: Time Machine backup stalls after El Capitan upgrade

Some with many pages.

Re: Time Machine has conducted an audit of your backups. To improve reliability, Time Machine must create a new backup for you.

Some posts soon.

Re: Time Machine

All find themselves in the same place... remove the backup and start over. Unless there is absolutely vital files you add just the corruption to more corruption. The whole point of a backup is a reliable restore.

    Hello
While that hurry to catch a flight, I accidentally disconnected my external hard drive (which I use for time machine backups) before ejecting.  Now the House, the time machine backup does not recognize my external hard drive.  I went into disk utility to try to repair the disk.  Here's what he said:

I could really use some help as to how I should proceed.  Any advice?

I think you need to clear this backup disk, and while you are this and do a full backup (which takes all afternoon to all night) you will be working without a net. If you do in idle time, and after checking your boot disk, the risk of catastrophic failure while the backup is low. Start now and in the future, you will have a backup.

If you have a different backup disk, add it and Time Machine will create a new independent backup on it, and then Time Machine alternate disks automatically.

  • Disk utility was unable to repair the Time Machine USB2 external HARD disk partition?

    Hello.

My client has problem with its USB2 500 GB Seagate FreeAgent Go since early 2010. There 2 partitions: FAT32 and HFS (for most Time Machine backups). After connection and enter its password valid successfully, it takes a minute to set up, and then a message that says "OS X cannot repair the «...» "You can still open or copy the files on the disk, but you cannot save changes to the files on the disc. Back up the disk and reformat it as soon as you can. "I ran disk with their verification utility. Both are problems with "invalid sibling link" and said the repair option. However, this repair option is grayed out.  So, is it not possible to fix it with free software on the disk except for the reformat?

I used two different 15 "MacBook Pro (Mac OS X v10.8.5/Mt. mid-2012 lion and v10.10.5/Yosemite of the early 2013) with the same results, is not the MacBook Pros. http://imgur.com/a/OW0s6 for a couple screen
s (shooting/capture) of Mac OS X v10.10.5/Yosemite. I also tried disk on its FAT32 partition checks, and found minor problems. They were repairable too unlike the encrypted HFS partition.

    Thank you in advance.

Disk utility can't repair an error of invalid sibling link. You use Disk Warrior that assuming that the disk is always good. Otherwise, you will need to save what you can then reformat the hard drive. Exactly what the error message said.

  • I've never done a Time Machine backup and I have upgraded to iOS Sierra. Help!

I'm a fool. After owning my Macbook for 5 years, I failed to make a single Time Machine backup. I just saved my essential to an external hard drive. I have upgraded to iOS Sierra. Big mistake. I want to go back to iOS Capitan, but it does not seem possible. Now, my external hard drive is wiped clean (things are dark). What are my options? If I'm stuck with Sierra?

If you have downloaded El Capitan, it should always be available in your purchases. Now, you will need to make a backup to backup your personal files.

I reformatted the drive that I use for Time Machine (drive external usb with a capacity of 0.5 TB) during the upgrade of OS Sierra.

On my laptop - still running Yosemite - recovery works very well >

The Time Machine (TM) fail to start backup and there is still "preparing backup...". "for more than an hour. This right after upgrading to Mac OS Sierra.

Another weird thing happens to the toolbar of the Mac Mail. The Junk button is replaced by another button. trying to put back in place, but remove the button become a button.

Please help with the backup problem mentioned above. Thank you much in advance.

How long have you waited? After a new installation, it must be a fair while even with a SSD to prepare the first backup due to the number of modified files.

Make sure the TM drive is in the list of items excluded from Spotlight indexing. ICloud newsletter and other cloud services.

  • Time machine backup is too large, that is not true, said

After the upgrade to OS Sierra, Time Machine always tells me that the backup is too big to fit on the external drive that I use. I erased the disc and checked all volumes, I don't want to back up. He always tells me that the backup is 2 TB.

My boot drive has 155 GB in use, I do not understand why TM attempts to use 2 TB. I've removed the preferences, he always tells me that it is too big. The external drive has 1 TB of free space.

    Any suggestions?

  • Delete older backups time machine from the server

I have a small number of iMacs here that back up using Time Machine on our local network to an external hard drive on an iMac running server. I added a second external hard drive and I say most of the Mac to use instead. Once they have saved once the new drive safely - how can I remove the old backup of the first disc? Is it safe to just delete the sparsebundle to it? Or is there a way to do it properly

    TIA

    Andy

Yes, it is safe to delete the sparsebundle in the old media from backup after you remove as the backup location and create your 1st upward on the new location. Since your iMac is now pointing to the new backup media, they are more associated in the former. If you have no other Mac backup on old media, you can simply reformat.

  • Time Machine - how to change discs

    Hello

Until now, I had time Machine using external HD_1 external drive. I just bought a new drive, external HD_2. I'd like Time Machine to begin to use external HD_2 while the addition of new backups to existing backups database.

My question is: How can I transfer the backup database that is currently on HD_1 to HD_2? Do, I just have:

    -stop time Machine

-in the Finder, move the folder of backups from one volume to another database

-to tell Time Machine to use HD_2 and reboot

or are there other complications - for example I'll end up with 2 databases disconnected backups - I need?

  • Mac OSx Sierra Time Machine WD my cloud

Since upgrading to Mac OSX Sierra my Macbook Pro and Macbook Air are not capable of doing Time Machine back Ups to a WD MyCloud drive that is connected to our router.

We have updated the firmware on the WD My Cloud drive to the latest version and contacted WD on this problem, so far they have not come with a solution to the problem.

If you open Time Machine preferences and then observe what happens, by hitting 'Back Up Now' systems do "Looking to save the disc" then "Preparing backup" then stop and then go back to the status of 'rest' without backup anything to the top at all. It is the same on both machines. You can see here: Time Machine Back Up My Cloud

Notice how the drive icon changes to the point where it stops working and then goes to the other drive which is a USB.

Now, to complicate the issue further... an iMac connected via Ethernet to the router can go back to the My Cloud drive perfectly as before. If Apple changed something with the wireless protocols I think but that?

    Hi stevefrompembury,

  • Time Machine restore problems

Me again... still to try to recover my drive hard because I tried to make the Boot Camp.

In preparation for boot from the external drive, I had a cool time machine backup of the system. The system was Captain El.

When I started pressing cmd + R to choose the way to go, I entered the utilities disk and tried to format/erase the existing partitions so that one new partition could be created, and then I use boot camp to install windows again.

Somehow after I did that and came back to restore options the system reported it no were not available to boot from the boot floppies and asked me to tie a boot disk. Having no other than the old drive boot disk that I had replaced out of the computer when he was a Maverick, I used as a startup disk and go to revive the position and where I chose what to do.

When I choose now to restore from the external drive that has my time backup machine El captain on this program trying to install for a bit, and then he told me that ' year error occurred during the addition of a system of recovery on the destination disk. It then asks me to restart to get rid of the problem, and of course the problem won't go away.

If I choose to reset the computer he'll want to maverick. I agree with going back that far and punting again and I'll probably have to do this because it appears that I have no other choice. I hope that I can install Maverick and then restore my El Captain off the external drive.

    Hello Farzad_K,

Thanks for asking for help with Time Machine here in Apple Support communities. I am pleased to offer you things to check this.

Since your Mac is fairly new, I recommend first start in recovery of the Internet. Here is the article on this subject: on Mac OS recovery. I know it says it's the Sierra, but the steps are the same for El Capitan. Use the second set of instructions for the recovery of the Internet with the keys: command ⌘ ⌥ (alt) Option and the letter R.

For this with the drive installed that you want to install OS X El Capitan to. If you have changed to the older readers with the Mavericks, switch back, and then run the recovery of the Internet. This will fix your hard drive and then allows you to install the operating system from Apple servers. Then you can restore the backup, or try to run a Migration Wizard using this help article: move your content to a new Mac.

Thanks again and relax your day wonderful.
