Adobe has never taken care of XP 64-bit. You try to run software designed for XP-32 bit SP 3 on 64-bit XP SP 2. With Microsoft, abandoning all support and updates for XP in the following months, it seems that the right time to upgrade. You try to run the software CS 6 will be an exercise in soymeal.

  • Error when you try to install Windows XP Service Pack 3: "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.

    Windows XP SP3 problem

Recently, I met a problem with my PC and was forced to use the system recovery. Now I'm back to factory settings and try to install Windows XP Service Pack 3 on my computer. Windows Update won't work for me, that whenever I try to update I get [error number: 0x8024400A]. I think it's because I use Service Pack 2, or that's what I concluded after researching the problem, anyway.

This is not my real concern, however. Because I could not get the update automatically, I tried to download and install the "Windows XP Service Pack 3 Network Installation Package for IT professionals and developers" myself. The first time I did it, I restarted the PC after the installation and was met with "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this. "  I went into safe mode and went to a just system restore point before SP3 was installed, but now I don't know how to install it correctly without encountering this problem after reboot. I'm hardly the easy just stick with SP2 when there are potentially important available updates. How can I get Windows Service Pack 3 is installed on my PC?

    It's certainly interesting!

If the cause of your problem is to have a HP PC with an AMD processor and an original image on your hard drive (and of course it sounds like this is the case), the solution should be to rename the file intelppm.sys and launch the sp37394.exe patch. Once done, the SP3 file that you downloaded from here:
    SHOULD work!
I'm puzzled why there is no intelppm.sys file in your directory C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers.
Since you recently returned to square one with your PC ("return to factory settings"), then you may as well run the patch from this page:
and try the SP3 Setup file again.
But, first, let's be absolutely sure that we are both using the same terminology. Please answer the following questions:
    1. have you safely backed up ALL your data?
    2. what method did you use to ride "back to factory settings? I think that your choices have been a destructive restore (full) and a (partial) non-destructive recovery. The first erases the disk and leave you with a pristine image and NOTHING ELSE (which means that all of your programs and data get deleted). The other (which does not always correctly) is supposed to leave programs and data intact.
  • Windows XP Service Pack 3 help

    Hello

I know I'm late with the thing of the installation, but I tried to install the Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 two days ago and my computer has been running a muck. Installation is complete and asked to restart, I restarted my computer and it take me to the Windows XP start screen, flash a blue error message and continue in an infinite loop.

Now, my computer won't let me log into my account. Instead, I logged into safe mood and tried to uninstall the service pack. However, when I try to uninstall, a message tells me that the file is not found.

I also tried to use the system restore process, but when it gives me the calendar what day choose, it allows me to choose that day I'm in and the "installed Windows XP Service Pack 3" isn't even an option in the Restore Point.

Also, I tried to reinstall the service pack, but it's just not a good... (and Yes, there is enough free space on the drive in my computer)

I really don't want to restore my computer to factory settings, any comments will help!

Additional information: my computer is a 32-bit, the compaq computer that has about 7 years.

    Technical information: STOP: 0x0000007E (0xc0000005, 0xF7896756, 0xF7A91430, 0xF7A9112C)

Hello and welcome on Microsoft Answers.

I'm sorry to hear that you have problems even after updated to sp3. You did a great job giving details about your system and the errors you encounter.

First of all, the Stop error message 0x07E is usually associated with a corrupt driver. It is also likely in your case since you're able to boot in safe mode. When booting in SafeMode only the basic components are loaded.

Restart the computer as if go in safe mode. When the Advanced menu choose "Disable automatic reboot in case of system failure". Now reboot the computer as if to start in normal mode. You will probably get a BSOD (blue screen with the error code). I would like for you to watch and see if the name of the corrupted file is listed under the stop code. It would be something .sys

Example only > 92 D 89498 address WUSB54GCx86.sys base at 92D7c000, Datestamp 45c04cc9 (Note: you will only have to list the name of the file and not all the codes or datestamp)

If, in your case it isn't we will need to locate the specific problem using the good old fashioned of elimination process. To do this I need your to perform a clean boot following the instructions HERE. To the best of my knowledge, you will be able to use interactive help safe mode with network. If this is not the case, simply follow the instructions in the manual.
