CS6 will install and run on Windows XP Service Pack 2

We no longer seem to be able to deactivate/activate CS3 on our system. I assumed that this is to do with our network or firewall settings.

As an alternative, I have watched the replacement of our licences of CS3 with CS6 long but note that the requirements in Service Pack 3 on XP.

It will install and run the Service Pack 2?

Adobe has never taken care of XP 64-bit. You try to run software designed for XP-32 bit SP 3 on 64-bit XP SP 2. With Microsoft, abandoning all support and updates for XP in the following months, it seems that the right time to upgrade. You try to run the software CS 6 will be an exercise in soymeal.
