Video editing system Sugestions

After some research on this forum and with the participation of some of you, I finally have a list of parts and prices to my video editing system. Am planing to use it for Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects CS5, and Sony Vegas. Will mainly work with AVCHD video. You think what are the parts of right for me? Thank you!

Motherboard: Asus P6X58D-E LGA 1366 Intel X 58 SATA 6 Gbps $209.99

Processor: Intel i7-980 x Extreme $999.99

Power supply: Corsair CMPSU-750TX 750W $109.99

RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR 12 GB (3 X 4) DDR31600 $269.99

GPU: PNY QUADRO FX1800 768 MB GDDR3 PCIe $2.0 449.99

HD: X 3 WD VELOCIRAPTOR 300 GB (OS, SOURCE, MAKE)

Case: Cooler Master HAF 932 FULL TOWER $150.00

TOTAL $2 639,95

Get rid of this Quadro FX1800. It is a waste of money and does not support the MPE. Better, get a GTX 460/470/480. And get a third CPU cooler like the CoolerMaster Hyper 212, Noctua NH - D14 or Prolimatech Megahelem. And the minimum 850W PSU.

First items 12 and some other old versions must run under XP. If you really want to buy an older version, I see that they are available at some retailers like Amazon.
If you end up buying a new computer, your options will be first items 13, Premiere Pro CS6, or subscribe to the creative cloud single app or another plan. Be sure to check the system requirements first.

  • A video editing system reviews please

    Hello

I'm an amateur seriously/user of a lot of the Adobe PS, Illustrator and, more recently, Premiere Pro family. I got a lot of cloud composition.

My question is (and I know that there is the entire spectrum of kit here of very high quality low end, more v Mac PC) - what would ppl catalog as a good place to high end system for me. It is currently:

    ASUS P7X79 Pro mobo,

    16 GB Ripjaws 2400 mhz DDR5,

    Intel i7 3930 K 3.2 Ghz,

    Intel SSD 250 GB (Boot),

2 x WD 500 GB in RAID (storage media) Raptor drives,

2 x 120 GB SSD drives the two zero.

ATI HD 7950 3 GB graphics card (I know that NVIDIA for MPE) but I can't justify buying a card Quadro that this system is just 8 months and was well suited to the job chart and illustration.

NEC PA301W 30 "IPS screen (25th anniversary of marriage are present)

To give an indication of speed it performs video processing currently - a 2560 x 1600 at 60 fps, which is in .avi format, gives me raw images 4 GB every minute - if put through the SOUL and encoded in 1920 x 1080 using H.264 30 fps AAC, it takes 4 minutes to deal with each of them. These settings give me end of good quality against the size of the file.

Is this reasonable? Perhaps I could change anything, and what would you recommend if this is the case? and if anyone has comments on the parameters, that is, they should be something else, feel free. I learn the program through adobe IPC and a well known video training online.

I'll take all the help/advice you can offer.

  • Help in obtaining loans for a simple video editing MBP

I am trying to put things in place on a slightly older Macbook Pro.

    Here is my system configurations:

OS X Version of El Capitan 10.11.5

    The MacBook Pro mid-2010

Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

    Memory 4 GB 1067 < Hz DDR3

NVIDIA GeForce 320 M 256 MB graphics card

I learned that my GPU's massively underpowered, i.e. 256 MB of VRAM is much too small.

Through my research, I also determined that the GPU can be replaced, because I think it is welded in to the motherboard.

In addition, my hard drive is probably not good either, quite right? Core 2 duo of is not as good as the new i7. So what are my options?

I used to be able to run at least iMovie and slap some clips together for short videos, even add music. I lost iMovie during the upgrade to Yosemite and am trying to figure out if it's worth trying again (for $15). Before that I tried Davinci resolve 12.5 (which is more than my computer can manipulate wayyy), and then I even tried the GoPro simple studio software. Turns out that GoPro software is not that simple if you're not using images of the GoPro and my computer was struggling to convert, rendering, see even the files. And I don't think I'd be able to make the colors in GoPro calibration software, so I'm a little more than. I don't think I need all the features of Final Cut Pro, as I'm looking to throw together a few vacation pictures and some pictures again, also a timelapse here and there in the video, etc.

I want to mention the GoPro software comes to losing me a lot of cred in this question, but this is where I am. I don't want to really go out and start building a computer for video editing (although it seems I could do relatively cheap ~ $ 600)

Thoughts? Suggestions? What would you do if you could do it again?

In addition, the camera that I mainly record the images and still images is a Panasonic G6

    Thanks for any help!

What about iMovie. . . have you tried looking in your AppStore account to see if it is still available as a free download?

It is likely that you will not be able to install FCP X directly from the app store on your computer, probably, he does not meet the minimum specs for the latest version.

However, you can download on a Mac more modern and copy it to all but you really need a more powerful Mac.

You can download a free 30-day trial version to see if it will work in terms of: -.

  • AT3-600-UR33 Acer will work GoPro Studio 2.0 video editing software?

I am considering the AT3-600-UR33, which is available on the emachinesredeem site. Can someone tell me if this PC will allow me to start the video editing software provided by GoPro for their cameras? The minimum requirements that they list on their website are CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo; Graphics card supporting OpenGL 1.2 or higher; 4 GB RAM or more; Internal drive hard disk 5400 RPM; Quick Time 7.6 or higher. Here is the website http://gopro.com/support/articles/what-are-the-minimum-system-requirements-for-gopro-studio

    Thank you for your help

    Hi LMinCT

The Dual core Celeron is not as good as the chip Core 2 Duo - everything will be OK.

In theory - the answer is "maybe", but this isn't the ideal machine for your software, unless you can find another sequel that will work with the Celeron to video editing.

The machine will run slowly, while using, even stop if HD video processing, and that it provides will allow you to install it in the first place.

The AT3-600-UR33 is not a bad machine, it's just for everyday use.

  • Upgrade XPS 8100 GPU for video editing? (of GTS 240-> GT 630 Kepler)

    I have older XPS 8100 with power supply 350 W, PCIe v2.

It comes with Nvidia GTS 240

    • Hearts CUDA 112
    • 1 GB 128- bit memory DDR3 memory

Is it wise to update to GT 630 Kepler who has more CUDA cores and memory bigger BUT less bandwidth! Note There are several flavors of the GT 630 map. The Kepler there CUDA more but less bandwidth. It also uses an architecture of nm 28 (?) so it consumes less energy...

    • 384 CUDA cores
    • 2 GB memory 64- bit memory DDR3

I'm just trying to give my older office a little boost so I can keep it a little longer. Just to get into video editing (videos of simple talking heads HD of Canon DSLR mainly for the YouTube/web but can experiment a bit with After Effect too)

    Other improvements, I foresee:

    • Replace the main (and only) with a SSD for the OS
    • Add controller SATA III Housing Board (motherboard currently supports only SATA II)
    • Add 1 or 2 7200 TPM (WD Caviar Black or Seagate Barracuda SATA III), although thought rather than the RAID 0 for speed I was going to do separate so I can use different drives for data, source on one and previews, cache files, etc. on the other hand
    • Add 3 USB so that I can also external platforms if needed is, like maybe keep my second internal drive and the third disk external but connected via eSATA III or USB 3

Given the hassle and expenses, I have no intend to upgrade the i5 processor (1st generation I think) or the power supply. Is the system otherwise "balanced" for what I'll use to?

The 630 GT would be a downgrade from the GTS 240. I would look at the GTX 650 for an upgrade. A GT 640 would also be an upgrade at the best prices.

  • Video editing on network

I have a network of video editing.

Some of the NLE * computer OS is windows xp and some of them is windows7

They all work great with local files (files stored in their hard drives). Problem occur when the files are imported from network drives in NLE software (for example, first adobe, avid liquid, Edius pro). NLE performance with windows 7 decrease seriously.

Why does this happen? Perhaps because of certain policies of windows 7 on the network that we don't know.

    Could you help me?

I am looking forward to hear from you.

  • How to edit audio like video editing

    Hello

Is it possible to implement the hearing so that I can edit audio in a similar way to how the video editing is done?

That is to say in the first I can open an item in source preview monitor, located in and off peak to select a range, and then drag the selected range in the timeline, where fine adjustments can be made, etc.

I don't see a way to do something similar in hearing without constantly switch between multitrack and waveform modes, highlighting a section and then right click > insert into multitrack.

For example, if I wanted to produce a sound documentary records on the field, I would want to work in a multitrack session, but I do not go to waveform mode, whenever I want to bring in a selection from a source file. There must be a way to do it - but I can't!

I hope that all makes sense - I know that editing video and audio have very different traditions!

    Thank you

Hearing short of a system tray, so you can't do it exactly like the video at present. I know that this issue has been addressed, but I have no idea of the current state of the idea.

So right now, if you open a source to the waveform file, you can place markers around the pieces you want to use. You must create ranges of marker, then for each group, you select the markers at each end and use the button 'merge '. When you have all the beaches merged, you can highlight all, and with a right-click, there is an option to "Insert into multitrack. Up to present, so good, but it's where the absence of a bin appears; the only options you have are to insert each item in the sequence on a track, or each on its own individual track. In other words, they are already on your timeline, and you have to juggle them from there.

Yes, I realize that most video editors find it somewhat tedious - so discussions on the bins.

  • Number of CPU cores required (Virtual vs. physical) for video editing 4 K Prime Minister?

    Hi all.

About to start my own business / video editing. I'm doing a customized version of PC. I am considering a motherboard very processor dual Xeon with maybe 64 GB of RAM and a certified Quadro 4 GB or 8 GB GPU. The 4 k I intend to work on commercials under 15 long minutes, will take place with an average of 3 video tracks and 2 audio tracks.

When it comes to running Adobe Premier Pro 5.5 or 6 (for 4K editing video and rendering), I read that it is recommended to have 12 hearts in each of the two processors. (The PDF I read was an official guide of 2015 from Intel: "Hardware Performance Guide: serious 4 K editing ')

Now, I wonder if this figure of 12 cores per processor is related to PHYSICAL cores, or ALL hearts including VIRTUAL cores (.. .If it is referred to all the hearts, so I just need to buy two 6 core processors, giving a total of 24 cores can be used.) Big price difference between a 6 core CPU and a 12 core...

The Xeon series which will be compatible with my MB is the 2600 CPU of the E5 v3 family. Stories of advice or that popular horror...!

    Paul.

guide intel suggests probably 12 real hearts, possibly the v3 of E5-2680. It would be double Xeon 24/48 virtual hearts.

software Adobe does not need the features on the quadro, using the version of game/Office nvidia gtx can help save money.

If you need 10 bit out for the color correction, view maps of mfg as blackmagic, aja and others may be a better option.

have you already bought the motherboard?

Hardware requirements may vary for different types of media and project as multi-cam configurations. codecs like h264/5 are very difficult for the processor process and the gpu should be handled, but first does not currently support gpu accelerated encoding/decoding. This is what can lead to dual xeons as intel recommends. Dual cpu also have large overhead, reducing their combined processing power. Another reason why intel may recommend the 12 core dual processor. If you use the less demanding codecs such as prores or dnxhr, UC must be as powerful, and can even be possible to use a single processor. Some people transcode their sequences of difficult codecs like h264/5 prores or dnxhr as a whole work rather than buy a more powerful system to manage h264/5 when editing.

    Hackers Page - Video Codecs

Intel PDF: "Hardware Performance Guide: serious 4 K editing."

It is important to note that software engineers need to write specific code to take advantage of some features like multiple nuclei (multithreading) and virtual cores (hyper-threading). Consumer applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects already take full advantage of these features.

If you check that the tests carried out here: Tweakers Page - decide between one processor or dual CPU and read through the discussions here and other websites, you will find the results against this last sentence. software Adobe has long had problems fully multi-threads, the first is not as bad as some of the other adobe programs but can still have problems.

  • Building a new computer video editing, need Suggestions!

    Hello

I use after effects for awhile, and I was wondering if you could help me with the choice of parts to finally make a custom PC.

It's my first time doing so, and I completely didn't reconcile with all the technical words out there, so I was wondering if someone could advise me on the correct parts to make a GOOD PC video editing.

For the moment, I have a laptop with:

    GeForce GT 640M

    Intel Core i7-3635QM - CPU @2. 40 GHz

    8 GB RAM

This laptop translates previews with slow, RAM (I'm aware of the ways to speed up) and General accidents with several other adobe programs.

What I want is a high-end PC, which can easily whizz through previews RAM and not there miss you on speeds.

I join with my laptop to play games such as DayZ, field, etc. (with high refresh rates!)

    Any advice would be, thanks,

    techyguy01

AE will never be whizz through all RAM previews. It is an illusion does not hang to the. Check the various discussions on performance optimizations and rendered MP. There will be conditions that prevent the maxing out resources such as the specific CoDecs and effects only work in a single thread and so on. the rest is too vague. Speed and performance are influenced by factors 1 million. You can follow the recommendations of Adobe and buy the best and fast SSD for storage and caches, but no results because you do not have the kind of work that this recommendation is based on (workflow combined with the first and massive footage I/O). In the end, we can spend the next three days to discuss, but the simple truth is that you have to know what you need and a balanced system is much more important than having a high performance component standout as a super expensive graphics card, but it be hampered by less effective and efficient components. Get some current core7i is in your price range, 32 GB of RAM, 2 SSD drives to the system and cache and tray 2 or 3 disks for storage. In addition there is really not much to say.

I want to build a pc for better video editing with the soft first Adobe pro and Adobe after effect. Should what kind of material I buy for it. If you suggest me pls. my budget is about $2500

You will have problems in the construction of a 99 X system for this budget. You need 32 GB of ram if you do that will be a large part of the cost with DDR4 right now. If you have a room on the X 99 budget would certainly be the way forward. The 5960 X is the best processor out right now but $1100 will probably push your budget. The 5930 K would still work and a much better price for your budget. I suggest: 970GTX with this budget as well. Forget the Xeon V3. They are out of your budget and not worth the price with this budget in mind. You can get a system much better with the I7 Haswell E chips.

  • IMac with Fusion Hard Drive - HD Setup for video editing

    Hello

I just ordered a new iMac with the following specifications just for video editing:

iMac 27 "Quad - Core Intel Core i7 3.5 GHz

    8 GB RAM

3 disc Fusion to - [I] I got this configuration with the merger of 3 TB for much due to the fact that it was a mixed open-box, otherwise I would of went with an SSD. [/ I]

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780MX with 4 GB of GDDR5

My question is: what is the best way for me to set up my hard drives (Cache OS, programs, file, media, media, projects, previews, exports, etc.) for editing with this iMac and hard drives that I own?

I currently use a combination of a HD Lacie Raid - 0 6 TB and 1.5 TB OWC FW - 800 Raid-0 for video editing on my MBP that has a 750 GB HD SSD and oem.

    iMac installation:

3 to Fusion: operating system, programs, parallel

6 TB Lacie Raid: video/media storage disk

1 TB OWC USB 3 external:

Several OWB FW - 800 external references:

I might consider to get a 1 to Lacie thunderbolt HD, though it will have a significant advantage.

I'm intent on obtaining a raid of the Rainbow-8050 somewhere down the line, but that is out of my budget right now.

In addition, I already know the standard of the guidelines for the use of the disc which is in the link below, but since the iMac cannot be configured with multiple HDs, I'm looking for suggestions of knowledge of people with this type of installation.

     http://forums.Adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/showImage/2-2906955-31395/guideline+disks.jpg

    Thank you

I'm already a user of Areca (32 terabytes on Raid6). As you have a capable TB2 iMac that I would wait for the next version of the Areca 5080 TB2.

I suggest you a configuration of data 3 step; for example the project files on an external drive and Fusion cache on external SSD and based on external Raid 0 and as the third step one backup (BR, external drives, LTO, basically everything what is available or practical).

  • Portable light for video editing?

    Hello

I'm going on a long trip to Asia where I'll do a video on the go a lot. I'm open to Mac or PC, with a preference for PC. Can anyone advise me on the best weight for the compromise of performance?

I thought I'd go for a Dell XPS 13 with this configuration:

    • 3rd generation Intel® Core™ i7-3537U processor (4 M Cache, up to 3.1 GHz)
    • Windows 8, 64-bit, English
    • 13.3 "FHD 1080 p
    • 8GB1 DDR3 Memory SDRAM at 1600 MHz
    • 256GB Solid State Drive
    • Intel HD 4000
    • 2.99 lbs

I'm a bit wary of the Intel HD 4000. The rest looks pretty good to me, what do you think?

I don't need first-class performance, but I don't want to fall asleep on my Pad Thai in waiting for the rendering of base effects.

    Thank you very much

    1. A laptop is always a compromise and can not outstanding performance.
    2. Only 8 GB of memory is a serious drawback, 16 GB would be much better.
    3. Only a single SSD is not enough. You need at least one other 7200 RPM (e) SATA disk or drive USB3 for media.
    4. You need a power outlet to power the additional disk and one for the laptop, because the battery is not the last long enough under the heavy.
    5. The Intel HD 4000 card STINKS for video editing, especially compared to 1 + GB VRAM and nVidia with CUDA.
    6. The i7-3537u is only a dual core 2.0 GHz.

The best you can expect is a system that is part of the bottom 5%, at least 30-50 x slower than a fast system. Be aware that when a fast system needs an hour to export a timeline, this laptop will need three or four days for the same work. Another reason, that you need from this socket. See reference PPBM5
