  • Cannot play video files in media center - files are missing or not working not

original title: can't play video in media center, audio files and pictures are beautiful and play files in media player but media center says the files required to play videos are missing or does not

I just upgraded my old HP Pavilion desktop for windows 7 home Prem had problems with the old graphics card and just install a new one. seem to still have problems with video performance, but I'm sure I can find compatible drivers. problem is that wmv and avi files playing very well at the start in the drive media will not play in media center. audio and photo files are fine but when I go to the library and try to play a video, it says that the files needed to play videos are missing or does not. have spent hours trying to get answers, but leads nowhere. Please tell us how to solve this problem. thought about trying the installation disk again but afraid to destroy the progress that I've done. cant I just download everything that I need a microsoft site

I really appreciate that come back you to me then quickley. It seems that I took the lead for good help. I kept exploring and stumbled upon the answer myself. Seems when I downloaded the drivers compatible w7, I have no drivers directx or direct3d right here. Once I had those installed, everything straightened and media center works as it should, all video files play much better and even much less agitated got streaming. Thanks anyway and I will seek for your help once again in the future. I share a DSL with someoneelse so until we get a router, we need to keep swapping cables so am not always online.

  • Win 7 - missing video files to Mpeg, WMV and FLV thumbnails

The thumbnails are missing from video files (MPEG, WMV and FLV).   It seems that the problems started after
installation, update the codec K-Lite and Windows 7 packs. There are a few videos that show a thumbnail, but they appear more
the choice video logo only. Folder view options are well positioned. Other people also face this problem, but I have never
given a satisfactory answer as to why this is happening. One might think that the folder options Windows 7 would override any setting codec.
This seems to be a bug in Windows 7, as I have never experienced such a problem with XP or Vista. If anyone has a solution, I would
    appreciate hearing from you.

Because no one at Microsoft Answers has seen fit to answer my question, my research has the answer. I have a Win 7 (64-bit) machine. I did the
bad choice for download 32-bit codecs packs and install them, as well as 64-bit codec packs. They were supposed to be compatible. They obviously
are not.  I uninstalled all the 32-bit codecs and reinstalled the latest K-lite 64-bit codec pack only. During the installation, you have the choice to choose what movie file
associations (mpeg, wmv, etc.) should appear with thumbnails. After installation, I opened various movie files and thumbnails began to appear in
place video logos!  Pay attention to the which codecs to install. Versions of the 32-bit codec not did me not select movie thumbnails with file associations.

Why is there no response from Microsoft? Is anyone awake?

  • File MPEG-2 TS input error

I have 13 items first running on Windows 7.

I imported the video in MPEG-2 TS, but I just get 'Media pending' on the screen. Downstairs in the events window, there is the error message:- a low level exception occurred at: ImporterFastMPEG (importer)

According to the specification for the 13 elements, it should be able to import video files MPEG-2 TS.

    Last resort:

convert mpeg to mp4 with Handbrake and re-import

See if that will make a difference

I could at some point... but now all I get is audio, no video.  The files open and work on

my laptop that also uses Windows Media Player... but for some reason now... nadda.  Seemed

This all started when I upgraded Windows more late service CAP and also installed Real Player.

    Help!

    Hello

    • What version of Windows are you using?

    1. it is possible that you are missing the codec to play the file or it is clashing with other codec files.

    2. the link provided below lists supported by Windows Media Player file format.
It does not list the AVCHD or. MTS files supported file format directly:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/316992

    3. yet we cannot be sure at this point that the issue is due to interference with some files.

    Method 1:
Alternatively, you can perform a restore of the system to a previous point, when the issue was not present. The System Restore tool uses points of restore to return the system files and settings to an earlier point in time. You can use it to restore the operating system to a point in time where you have not experienced the problem.

Note: When you use System restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

To do this, there must be a restore point from the system in which the connection was successful.

Please refer to the below of the help links on performing a system restore.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/what-is-system-restore
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/system-restore-frequently-asked-questions

    Method 2:
You can determine which codec was used with a specific file; read the file in the player, if possible. When the file is playing, right-click the file in the library, and then click Properties. On thefile tab, look at the Audio codec and Video codec sections.

Then you can uninstall any installed codec and install that you need to do the job file.

If you have several codec for the single file to work they can clash and cause problems.

You can check the link for assistance on the issue - below
