Same thing, only it started with a white screen.  I doubt that this is a problem with the link, but he has seen it happen on 2 different puters a wonder.  I am running Vista on my desk, I think it is XP on the laptop.

    Hi Michaelgdr,

    1. the problem occurs with all videos?
    2. What is the file format of you play it?

I suggest you to reduce hardware acceleration for windows media and (if supported) graphics card player

I suggest you to make Windows Media Player as a default player.

You can also change the hardware acceleration and check.

Try to reduce (or turn off) video hardware acceleration by doing the following

    a. open Screen Resolution by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, and then, under appearance and personalization, clicking
    Setting screen resolution.

    b. click Advanced settings, click the Troubleshooting tab and then click change settings.

Note that some video card drivers do not allow allows you to change the settings.

    c. move the hardware acceleration slider toward none to reduce or turn off video hardware acceleration.

  • No video, only the sound in Windows Media Player

Hello. Out of nowhere my videos stopped playing in Windows Media Player and I get sound. Most show a static of a frame of my video picture, while others display the icon by default windows media player. In both cases the sound plays normally but no mobile video!
All videos play perfectly (both video and audio) in Windows Media Center, however I prefer to have them play in the drive by default as they did. I did some research online and tried a few things, but nothing worked and I'm hesitant to download codecs that can be harmful.  Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

  • Photos videos are not displayed in Windows Media Player

Original title: no photos in lib

all photos and videos wmp icon only no pic

    Hi James,

Welcome to the community Microsoft and thanks for posting the question. We need additional information to provide the best solution:

1 have had any changes made to the Windows Media Player settings?

2 were the images displayed properly before the question?

    Try these steps and check:

    Method 1:

If your computer has problems to access your collection of digital media files in the Windows Media Player library, try to use the of the Windows Media Player library Troubleshooter to fix the problem. The troubleshooter makes sure that Windows Media Player is installed correctly on your computer and checks if the Player library is corrupted.

Open the troubleshooter in the Windows Media Player library

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/open-the-Windows-Media-Player-library-Troubleshooter

    Method 2:

Windows Media Player automatically organizes files in the Player library according to the media available for the files.

Change how you display items in the Windows Media Player library

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/change-how-you-display-items-in-the-Windows-Media-Player-library

In addition, visit these links and check:

The Windows Media Player library: frequently asked questions

Hope this information helps. If you have any other questions feel free to respond and we would be happy to help.

    Hello

If you're having trouble playing a song or video, it may be because of the codec problem. I would suggest trying the following steps and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

Run the Windows media player convenience store settings and check. Follow the steps to run the Troubleshooter:

    1. Press the Windows key + Q on your keyboard and type Troubleshooting and click Troubleshooting under results of research.
    2. Now, click on programs.
    3. Click the Windows media player settings to run the troubleshooter.
    4. Click on library of Windows media player to run the troubleshooter.
