Video objects in software simulations

I recorded a software simulation, and then a video demo separately. I published the demonstration video on the spot. I tried to upload this video as a "video object" in my software simulation. When I try to playback, the "video" object is right there. Is there some magical setting I'm missing to make it work?

Thank you in advance!

I just thought about it: there is an 'Auto Play' box that should be checked.

  • Impossible to hide objects in software simulation

I create a software Simulation - demo (in Captivate 9). Originally, I tried to hide the mouse on some slides (but show on others). I clicked on the icon from 'hide' in the timeline panel. It worked for me, for all the other projects I've done so far, to date. At first, I thought it was just a question mouse (because it has a slightly different behavior than other objects), but I tried to hide objects on my slide (legends, boxes of highlight, etc.), and Captivate seems to ignore the option "hide" for those as well.

This is the parameter hide that I refer:

    hidden.PNG

So far, I tried to save before preview, Captivate, restarted my computer, asking the help of Adobe.

I want to emphasize: deleting the object of the mouse works (obviously). However, as I am always showing the mouse on the other slides, I would that these slides to have the movement of the mouse rely on the previous slide, which is not the case if I'm the Remove (the mouse starts from the upper left corner instead of the end position of the previous slide) so I would hide it instead of delete so that positions persist throughout the slide.

The usual confusion!  Sorry for this exclamation, it is is not improved with the new user interface, because now this symbol of the eye is used for more than one use.

There is a big difference between:

    1. Hide on the stage for the edition of the reasons: that's what makes the eye button in the timeline panel. This has no effect on the visibility of these objects when you preview or after publication.
    2. Hiding in the OUTPUT, this is what you need. In versions prior to 8, this was done by checking a box that says clearly that the object could not be visible in output. CP8 and 9 you must search another button look in the properties panel, the top of the page to the left.
    3. To increase the confusion: this same button eye also exist in the slid Panel &: here, it is intended to hide the links between sources of drag and target objects, has no effect on production, because these links are never visible output.
  • Software Simulation, default object Styles?

I use Cap 9. Try out the features of the software simulation. Is it possible to apply a style to text objects that Captivate automatically adds the screens?

I can't call them the text captions because they are not individual objects in the timeline panel. So far, they seem to be grouped into a single object that I can move individually and manually resize (required every time!). Be able to apply a style that would allow them to save a lot of work.

Is there a way to do this?

Are you sure these are legends, not forms? Because the two objects can be selected in preferences, check, default values. At this place, you will find also all the default styles for the registration of the software simulations. And you can easily navigate to the Style Manager object.

If you want to change the style after the capture, you change to a legend (or form), then use the button of menu hamburger (top-right with three horizontal lines) where you can apply the changes to the existing style.

  • How we prevent stop video capture on the software simulation mode

    Hi all

I recorded a video of my software, a non-interactive tutorial ( software simulation mode and record mode: demo).

My software has a debug window showing the values that change frequently.

In my video, I would record this debug window and do some action on it (this window has a toolbar).

Captivate correctly save the pointer of the mouse but when i, e.g. clicking a button of toolbar, Captivate adds a legend of text (rightly) but the video stops (the values on my watch freeze).

How can I stop this behavior?

    Thanks in advance

You can add static images in a video demo as well. Take a look at this (old) example that was performed using only the demo video:

Simple to advanced standard Action in Adobe Captivate - YouTube

Often, I will replace the 'old' FMR slides, still not well displayed in the HTML output by slides CPVC (short video slideshow). I stop recording software, in the project cptx choose the big button "Slides" insert a slide of demo, the recorder is opened and I save the CPVC slide. When you are finished, you can insert with the same touch of Simulation software slides etc. Advantage: you can open the editor video demo of each slide CPVC. Pan/zoom have a much better quality you can achieve with the workflow software sim.

  • Convert a video demo in an interactive software simulation

I recently created a video demo of long hours of a function of demand, which I cut up into convenient bitesized pieces. It took me forever...

It was created with love and sure for what is said in the brief, I was given - but my memory has been mysteriously changed, and an interactive software simulation has therefore been requested. GRrrrrrrrrrr!

I have a white fully draw on it, but is possible to convert a video demo in an interactive software simulation? It may be obvious, I can be stupid, or maybe there's not a way to do it at all, but any advice on this would be greatly received!

No, Brendan, I'm sorry. An interactive software simulation will be a cptx project, while the video demonstration is a project of cpvc. You can use the storyboard, assets may be static if you added to the demo video, or using a part of the VO if you had them.

A software simulation in Captivate is based on leaves, not video. You may want to use small pieces of the video when necessary. An example: to replace the blades FMR which are inserted automatically when you use scrolling or dragging in the simulation. Due to their poor quality, I mostly replace it with CPVC-slides, that you can create from our project cpvc and insert into the project main cptx.

  • Reagent blank screen software simulation - video .swf - during the published/Preview in browser

    Captivate 8.0.1.242 - Windows 7 64 bit

I add a software simulation to my sensitive journey and I have few places where I drag and drop things. Captivate quickly added the drag and drop as transparent with video of him. The video format is swf. Now, all right until I have preview/publish. This is when the screen is blank and white. It is as if the slide work and when its time to move to the next slide, he does. All other slides is displayed correctly.

Is this some kind of a compatibility problem with swf video and HTML5?

I found a 2 year old post: help, videos play more after the publication

But I don't know how the answers are for videos to swf format and also with the current version of captivate I use as these responses were to capture 6.

Quick way, no. I always replace FMR slides video demo, but which is more

    work.

  • Themes with software Simulations

I created a theme in Captivate 8 for projects that I put together for the work.  I'm still essentially show Captivate myself, so I'm kinda stuck right now.  I created a software simulation (demo only).  I have all the slides exhibited the demo with regard to highlight boxes, captions, etc.  I basically want to take slide intro and conclusion of my theme/template and insert them into the simulation of software, but I can't understand how do without having to basically build slides from scratch once again.  Also, I used a free theme and tweaked to create one I want to use.  Ideas/suggestions?  Thank you!

Glad we finally settled it. There is a lot that is not well explained or even not mentioned in the help documentation. I find mostly by trial and error and learned something of this thread. It is always marked unanswered. In case anyone else is looking for a solution to a similar problem, it is a good summary:

When you create a custom theme, which should be used for courses that include slides of simulation software, never remove the master slide empty. That the master is used by the slides of the software simulation, it does not show the default master slide objects. If there is a background in the main slide, it is not used but replaced by the background that is captured. You will see that "project background" is checked, and the backgrounds captured are numbered and are in the library.

  • Cut sections of a software simulation Captivate 7

I am VERY new to Captivate...

I have a software simulation which I'm currently editing. I need to cut portions of a clip where the trainer screwed up. I find a way to cut the audio but cannot figure out how to cut the section of the real item. Any suggestions?

    Thank you!

The slides you are here are normal, static slides. A FMR slide looks like this in the timeline:

You can shorten a calendar on static slides, moving forward and backward delays. I see in this example that the clip is just beginning after 2 minutes! The text of the legend of the mouse object and select button also appear later. Select these 4 objects and drag them to the beginning of the slide (you can also use the accordion calendar if you want). Then you will be able to shorten the slide itself to the duration of the audio clip.

Little old, but for the most part (except colors maybe in the screenshots) still valid advice: small timeline Tidbits - Captivate blog

Timeline is the "core" of Captivate, try first to explore this Panel!

  • Software Simulation lines random question on slides

I work in Captivate 9 and I have a few slides in my project which are software simulation slides.  I used the slide button to start the software simulation.  When I saw my software simulation in Captivate in HTML5, it looks great.  When I post for others to look at the ReviewMyElearning, there are random lines that go through the slides.  I tried recording on different browsers and even on another computer, and nothing has worked.  These lines went away after I re-recorded, but are back once again after I cleared my cache for an unrelated question.   These lines randomly through the slides of simulation are only on the last few slides, and are in the same place on each of the relevant slides.

    Help please!

You can check the preferences of project size and quality settings? Don't forget to uncheck the option "Advanced project Compression" and the "compress SWF file. Then publish again and check if the problem is still there.

  • When you add a software simulation of a project through the "slides" the red box button record is not resized.

Created a ppt project and want to add a software simulation as I have in the latest versions of Captivate.  But today the record red box will not resize enough great for my capture software. He suggested monitors duel was a problem, tried to disconnect and the problem remains.  All of the suggestions.

It is attached to the resolution of the current project, you can not choose

another resolution. Only for a new simulation of the project be registered you

will be able to change the resolution. With the key slides that you insert

    blades in an existing project.

  • Software simulations and next/or buttons not working not not on Moodle/Scorm cloud

    Hello

I recently finished the responsive project in Captivate 8 and tested offline. It was working fine.

But, when I downloaded the same web server, software simulations and next / continue button did not work. (Action has not been executed, when they clicked).

Find the sample classes in the link below:

I just took your course and it worked fine for me. I use IE9.

  • Save a software Simulation without legend

I want to record a software simulation, but I don't need these legends for a project.

I went into Edition-> Preferences-> registration-> legends and add text captions uncontrolled. But when I record a software simulation, there still captions.

    What should I do?

    Hello

And you save it in the same mode as the one that you have disabled text captions? This screenshot I unchecked for demo mode. During capture now in this mode, automatic, I don't have any text captions.

  • Video object with alpha channel | need of objects behind it clickable

I have a video object that plays a video with an alpha channel.  There are objects located behind the video object that I would like to allow the user to interact with, so if someone will fly over video game nothing happens but if they mouse over objects in the background, something that happens.  Is this possible?  A few Google searches and a quick search of the Adobe forms don't me net the answers.

with the exception of objects under the skin or the buttons, it should work.

    Hello

Your code is perfectly fine with the exception of a single statement.

    (NS). Play

    ( "sample.flv") ;

Since you want to play VOD, give the name of the stream without extension as -

    (NS). Play

    ( "sample") ;

But why do you NetStream.Play.Reset and NetStream.Play.Start events? This is because you have not mentioned the values 'start' and 'length' in your ns.play () method. Who takes the default value to 'start' as -2, which means that Flash Player first attempts to play the live stream specified in nom_flux. If a stream live by that name is not found, Flash Player plays the recorded stream specified in nom_flux. If a live or a recorded stream is found, Flash Player opens a stream live named nom_flux, although nobody publishes on the subject. When someone starts to publish on this stream, Flash Player begins to play.  As you mentioned the name of the stream with extension, FMS believes that it is in a stream which is not in the server and began to wait for a live stream with the name "sample.flv.

Best practices is always give the 'start' and the 'length' of the data stream when you call the NetStream.play() method.

    Kind regards

  • Can I change the registration area while recording a software Simulation?

I am a newbie of Captivate. Can I change the Red recording area after you start a software simulation of recording? A Simulation of scenario would be better? Can I get a slide after registration? I found nothing in the doc online or in other forums. Thank you for your support.

    Hi SteelcaseMark

So that the Rectangle red record, while recording, you can move it to a location different screen if you wish, but you cannot resize.

For the sizes of the slide, you can resize the entire tape, but are generally not a single slide. However, you do not have the option to replace the backgrounds for slides with different slides. So, theoretically, you can resize one.

    See you soon... Rick
