  This is the command I am trying to use.  I am just running directly in with the cmdlet view loaded PowerCLI powershell command window.  The Virtual Machine name (-id) is obtained using the command Get-DesktopVM, so I know it's good.  I tried with a couple of virtual machines.  The query Get-DesktopVM also States that isInPool = false so that can't be buggered me upward.

  Here is my result when you use the command above.

  Thanks in advance for any guidance.  It seems that everything simply, it does not find the virtual machine... but the name is correct, and various data collection 'get' commands work with this ID. VM unfortunately, not much good information out there on view PowerCLI and diddly for Add-ManualPool examples.

  Just tried this and I think that the field id is case-sensitive - you must use a virtual machine in tiny i.e. VirtualMachine-vm-75557

• View PowerCLI no longer works

  I don't know what happened, but I have two servers VMware View connection, and we can not run more sight-related cli commands. I can execute simple commands such as Get-Date and they work, but if I try to view specific commands, I get

  Have a ticket with support, but after a few hours, do not yet have a solution

  I could make it work. The fix was simply shut down all servers connection restart vCenter and then start the connection servers pointing upwards. So weird, but it worked. I'm not complaining

  Generally, to get the number of VMS in a pool, I run this command:

  Get-pool | Select Pool_id, @{Name = "NumVM"; Expression = {($_ |)} (Get - DesktopVM). County}} | out-gridview

  But how can I list all the pools and then select the pool I want a county of?

  Maybe something like:

  Select 1 for accounts

  Select 2 for Marketing

  and then County VM just for this pool and immediate where at the output (Out-gridview or Export-CSV)

  OK, it seems as if the script is the choice the InstallUtil 32-bit rather than 64-bit.

  So, here's the tricky part. I would like to redial the most recent, that I took with instant. However, I see no easy controls to get the path of the last snapshot. Is it possible that I can get the path of the last snapshot and then store it only in $snapshot and then run my command like parentSnapshotPath - $snapshotpath?

  I think that we could talk about different things here.

  What you call PowerCLI, is indeed View PowerCLI, the PSSnapin to work with your environment from view.

  Then, PowerCLI itself, there is a set of modules and PSSnapins to work with your vSphere environment.

  The latter contains the cmdlets Get - VM and Get-Snapshot, I used in the above script.

  To use the script, you need both.

  There are several options here, as I documented in my blog.

  You can install PowerCLI (for vSphere) on your connection to the server, then run the script on the login server.

  The other option is to install PowerCLI (for vSphere) on your workstation.

  To view PowerCLI cmdlets then use you the remote sessions on the login server.

  I hope that clarifies.

  I haven't used HyperV as much, how many % of powercli script will work for hyperv whether or how cmdlets are the same? I'm sure that they do not have HA or DRS, but something else for the same set of features, I wonder how this will work for hyper V MS patches because so often, do they put host mode maint...   If we compare the set of Hyper-V cmdlets against applets command PowerCLI, is like comparing apples and pears.

  Both serve different platforms.

  You will be able to reuse part of the logic of your scripts.

  For example life cycle management script will essentially look the same, except that you need to use different cmdlets.

  As for books, there is the book of christophe Microsoft Hyper-V PowerShell automation which is quite good.

  Objects of the type of information are present when you retrieve a vSphere object, objects of type Spec are used when you configure a vSphere object.

  It's the Get-ter and Set-ter from the point of view PowerCLI cmdlets.

  I'm afraid, this is not possible, that all expressions in the filter hash table must comply.

  So, indeed, all expressions are AND-ed together.

  You can make a combination of two Get - sight lines of course.

  But I admit that this solution is not elegant or optimal.

  I'm trying to create a script that will run a vm VDI reset when an alarm is triggered in vcenter and say remote view connection broker to update this vm.
