View the Excel sheet in LabVIEW

I have a series of files MS Excel 2007 (xlsx) I want to integrate and display in LabVIEW 2012 selecting them individually. Currently, the only way I can see the spreadsheet in LabVIEW is to place my ActiveX container on the front panel, then "select ActiveX object' followed by 'create a file object '. The Excel sheet then fills the ActiveX container and that is exactly what I want my face to look like. However, I don't seem to be able to 'Create a file object' programmatically using nodes and must manually bind each file to display my result in the ActiveX container. I'm sure I'm missing something and any suggestions on how to do this would be by program greatly appreciated - thanks in advance!

  • Lines of Officejet J6400 graphic in the Excel sheet misaligned when computer file copying

    OfficeJet J6400 all-in-one, Vista, connected by cable to the laptop computer (and also connected wireless. I did both because of another problem fax not working do not under wireless only).

    The copy was working fine. Now, sheets of Excel spreadsheet and graph lines and many a printed text appear slightly crooked and misaligned.  The lines look like test you made during the alignment of the new ink cartridges. (some segments of line up, some down).

    AND, this only happens when copying of computer file for printer.  If I run a printer manually through Excel/graphic paper, it prints very well.

    Appreciate any ideas on that.

    Both BAD and sorry.  It seems that the right printer ran out of black ink now. What explains that.

    The Microsoft Office Spreadsheet ActiveX control will not import an Excel workbook. If you choose to use a table of LabVIEW control or ActiveX control, you can manually read the data in your Excel workbook using ActiveX (for Excel 2003 and earlier versions), and then fill the control (whether it is a table of LabVIEW or spreadsheet ActiveX control). Then, still using ActiveX calls once you must browse your Excel spreadsheet and read cell background colors, and then define the cells of the table LabVIEW control or control ActiveX to be the same. This is done by using the properties of the controls.

    Bottom line: this is a very manual process. For example, the attached VI is one that I post quite often. It will read the data from an Excel worksheet, and place it in a table of LabVIEW Control.

    Another option is to simply use a web browser control and display the worksheet by using the Excel plugin browser, as this is explained in this article: using the browser control Microsoft Web to incorporate a spreadsheet Excel in LabVIEW.

    Question: Why do you need to do this? What you are trying to accomplish in the long term? Perhaps there is a better way to do it.

  • Excel sheet entry to 'setpoint' of the PID controller

    I use this (attached) vi to control the thermostat of Lakeshore. I got the website vi OR. I want to change the vi as to the set value, it takes as input an excel sheet (could be any other form too). This spreadsheet contains a list of temperatures. The vi reads the first temperature and then that sets the value of the PID controller setpoint. Once the set point is 'set' the vi waiting for awhile (say 1 hour) before reading the next entry in the excel sheet set point. I want to wait that it is because I programmed a gamma spectrum software such that it counts for 1 hour and then starts a new count. The part of the spectrum is not very intelligent but its ok for now. The problem I have is that when I run this vi (attached), the indication of the set on the temperature controller (hardware) tends to zero and stays there. Can someone help me by pointing out the error that I do. This vi is Labview based 6.0 (it's a bad implementation!)

    It would be a classic case where you could use state machines (or producer / consumer - events if the user input is critical), research of this architecture and examples on ni.com. Also for synchronization purposes, are looking for functional global timer or try to modify this example https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-6523 to add 'elapsed time' (as in the elapsed time express vi) features similar to this code.

    You have reports such as:

    Initialization: initialize your control panel front/graphics etc. Read the spreadsheet file. Make sure that the comms exist between the software and the controller, etc..

    Set the temperature: set the first value, start a countdown (depending on what you set)

    State check: check the status of controller etc failure. Check if the user has pressed the stop button. Check if the timer in the previous state has expired?

    In case of error stop the timer and take the measures necessary to correct, to report to the user

    If the user has pressed the stop button, close all references, etc hard reset and exit the application.

    If the timer has expired, get the next value and go on to set the temperature.

    One of photo accessories save somewhere you can find it (for example, your desktop computer).
    Right-click on the file that you saved and select open with, then select "Choose program" (at the bottom of the context menu).

    If the program you want to use is listed as one of the "recommended programs", select it, click on the box to "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" and click OK.

    If you want to use the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer to view photos (personally, I like free IrfanView better) AND it is NOT listed as a program "recommended" or under "Other programs", follow the instructions below:

    in Windows Explorer:

    • On the Tools menu, click folder... Options
    • Click the File Types tab.
    • Scroll down to the extension that you like, for example "JPG".
    • Press the restore button, if it exists.
    • Press the Advanced button.
    • Click the Open action.
    • Click on change...
    • In the Application used to perform action: enter C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen %1. "C:\WINDOWS" is the directory that contains your Windows installation.

    You'll want to repeat for each extension (GIF, JPG, JPEG, etc.) for which you want to change the behavior.

    Open the folder, and then select all the documents in question.

    Hold the shift key while clicking the right mouse button (shift + right click).
    Choose "copy as path".
    Return to the spreadsheet and choose "Paste" to paste the list of documents in the worksheet.
    This will paste the full path, including file name, of each document, as shown below.

    I created a VO that is based on the query (not based on EO) and the query is as follows:

    Based on this original Version I created a search page that searches for and returns the data in the table and the finally export standard button will export data in excel sheet.
    In this research data based on over 5 attributes. Without entering anything in the messageTextInput if I'm clicking on this button, it returns all the data in the region of the table. After that if I click on the button export, data are getting exported to the Excel sheet. It is very good.

    But if I'm looking for data by entering a value in one of the messageTextInput, it is returned from the data. But if I'm clicking on the export button then it throws the following error:

  • Excel sheet can not be changed op OSX machines

    We received an Excel spreadsheet for tracking working hours. This Excel sheet works fine on all devices Microsoft with Office 2010-2016.

    When we try to use the same sheet Excel on a Mac Excel sheet can not be filled. Excel keeps saying that it is secured by a password? We tested it using Office for Mac 2011 and Office 365 2016 for the Mac. The file itself is reading/writetable.

    We asked the original sender if password protected Excel sheet, but he said that wasn't the case.

    Any ideas what could be the problem?

    -check if we can open the spreadsheet on different Windows platforms (Win 7, 8, 10) which works well

    -check if we can open the excel sheet on the different versions of Microsoft Office on Windows (office 2010-2013-2016) computers that works well

    -test on an iMac to edit the spreadsheet with the latest version of El capitan with Office 2011

    -test on a Mac mini to edit the sheet with the latest version of El capitan with Office 365 2016 Office for Mac version. Test not OK.

    -test on an iMac 27 "to edit the spreadsheet with the latest version of El capitan with Office 365 2016 Office for Mac version. Test not Ok

    Try asking at your office for issue of Mac at the office for Mac forums where the Office of the Mac gurus hang out.

  • How can I create a series of blocks of text using the Excel list values?

    It is first of all, the first script I am trying to write from scratch. I'm completely green at the script and I picked up a few bits of ID Adobe scripting guide, but nothing has really stuck still relating to this particular goal.

    My supervisor maintains a master list of advertising space, with the name of the account, is the width of the space, and how space is the height, in an Excel sheet. These spaces can number in the hundreds, and I'm stuck manually drawing a rectangle for each space, which takes a lot of time.

    I would like to create / helped to create a script that will take these values and "magically" to draw these spaces in the form of blocks of text, with the width (in columns) and the height (in inches) defined by the values in the main list, as well as the name of each account in the subsequent text frames.

    The script didn't necessarily need to be able to pull the values directly from the Excel sheet; Can I transfer a file text if necessary, or directly in the script, values he change because I need it. A great thing (if she is not able to pull directly from an Excel sheet) which is the number of spaces a week changes, and so do the accounts and the width and height. Accordingly, it would be ideal that values of the sheet could be modified easily, in order to create a new set of spaces as necessary.

    -Size of the text boxes should be defined by the values width and height of spreadsheet Excel.

    -Text blocks must have the account name as content (from account in the Excel worksheet names).

    -Accounts, width and height changes every week in the Excel sheet, so must be relatively easy to exchange all values.

    -Width values on the Excel worksheet columns. It would be ideal that the script could turn those numbers into multiples of columns as necessary.

    -Script (optionally) can take values directly from Excel sheet.

    -Script (option) can set the fill color for the gray text frame. (If it works as I think, I could just select all the resulting images of the text myself and put them all to grey at the same time... I'm not lazy as )

    Thanks in advance to anyone who can help in any way possible, even if it's just a little push in the right direction. This script will save 1 to 2 hours of boredom every week.

    Look like the perfect thing for the InDesign scripting.

    I copy content from Excel to a text file, for a format easily read in InDesign, and there will automatically be a TAB for each 'cell', just using copy and paste.

    Here is a piece of code, perhaps you could go on with (the addition of variable to change pages and the location on the page and other things).

    The readFileLineByLine function, can be easily reused with any function using "recall". You simply tell the function what you want to be executed for each line of text that reads:

    (1) I have run a stored procedure and gets the result values in a table.
    (2) I copy these values of result of this table in an excel sheet that is located on a client computer.
    DB is on UNIX.
    Customer is located on the windows box
    Oracle 10.2

    Can I do this using a utl_mail package (need to study).

    But always looking for the easiest ways to do so.
