Viewfinder LUT vs exposure tools (Zebra / waveform)

Hi guys,.

Discussions on our new found access to MLUTs and the AE CINE was great, thanks for all the info fascinating so far. So forgive me if this has already been covered, but I have two questions:

(A).. .for MLUTs in the viewfinder to be of any practical, why use the waveform monitor and the Zebra reacts to the MLUT when applied, as opposed to the same as if the MLUT has not been applied to all? IE - as an image in the viewfinder as slog2 sgamut my Zebra / wave give me information of the exhibition which is very useful (next to my light meter) but when I apply, say, the REC709 MLUT of the VF, news of Zebra and waveform to adapt to the new image - so REC 709 points out, blow and my zebras tell me now that the parts of the image is blown... But I'm still recording to SxS cards like sLog2 sLog2 - so, in reality, this info is not get blown at all.

So what I mean: the REC709 MLUT is ideal to boost the brightness etc. in the viewfinder and makes the image easier on the eye than the image dark sLog2, but I always feel like my tools of exposure to expose properly for the image being recorded to the card (in this case sLog2). I hope that all makes sense... Accept others, or am I missing something here?

and the second point is:

(B).. .throughout all the upgrades for the camera by setting the number 2 zebras at 109% don't turn on for me in the VF, despite an image being obviously blown. No more than 108%, or 107%. However the zebras behave corectly to 106% and will show the 'Zebra lines' when the image is burned.

Is there a reason why 109% zebras does not illuminate, or am I missing something here too?

Thanks for all your comments guys - happy shooting.

  • Personal firmware roadmap priorities

It is good to have the roadmap set out firmware and to hear that Sony is committed to respond to comments, but this roadmap seems to be primarily about the features of eminent brochure not available at launch.

I thought that I list the characteristics less glamours that are expected at a certain time or apparently less complex, but I regard as vital to the functioning of the camera as a tool on a daily basis. I don't want to say it's a weird wish list, plus an order of priority for the features. Here, they are what they are at the moment, the most important first:

    (1) improved exposure tools (waveform for me please).

    (2) AU/TC button more simply decorative.

    (3) MLUT to SDI out shooting S - log to XAVC internal (not gross). Very difficult to convince customers through a monitor that flat, dull scenes will rub upward friendly, honest. This would be number one, except that I think the biggest part of my job to be Hypergamma to XDCam to XAVC is required.

    (4) fix for fan fan (don't have not yet actually the camera, but messages of the forum about it pertained to me).

    (5) HFR for XAVC and Raw. XDCam would be fab too, like everyone else with Final Cut or first can use it, but I understand that technically he is not going to happen. But if you don't ask...

    (6) user Gamma

    (7) record HDCam SR

    Bonus feature:

    (8) simultaneous XAVC / XDCam record to separate cards. I know that this has now been abandoned, but the announcement left scope to revisit, so this is certainly not essential as soon as other features have been implemented THAT XAVC is not ubiquitous it would be well worth another go!

What are the thoughts of the others?

Watch read them with a way to add saturation.

  • Workflow ACES thread

First of all a big hello to everyone

Today I received my new sony F55 and I feel very comfortable with the camera, of course a few things that are missing sill, as the HFR and exposure tools, but that's another thread. Here, I want to discuss, as says the subject, ACES workflow with raw F55.

And to be honest, I want to keep it as simple as possible.

Lets start with the basic things:

0 configuration double shooting (SxS and FIRST):

    1 eat them both

2 use the SxS equipment for editing in Adobe Premiere

    3. send an EDL "Davinci Resolve"

    -> 4. Relink raw

    0R?

--> 4.1. Convert materials first with Sony RawViewer DPX sequence (Workingspace ACE, stay with the meta settings, Export DPX)

--> 5.1. Link again to sequence DPX

    Standings:

    6. start ranking primary, secondary

    Export

---> 7. The part the more delicate that I must apply luts limiting to conform to the user end monitors, projectors...

---> 8. Good format, if I chose DPX format to ingest the rank with, how to export a single file like Mov H264.

For example, when I use ranking Speedgrade a DPX sequence and then want to restore a file H264, I will eventually get the sequence just like unique dpx popular with extention mov, but not a single file.

Maybe we can bring light into the big advantage of the F55 and ACES )

Bravo and thank you very much.

This first method you suggest is go to work. I already did with FCPX, it's quick and painless. Shooting MPEG50 to SxS, raw to the AXS. Ingested MPEG to FCPX, then by solving related to the MPEG initially, but the difference between determination and NLE more is that it expects users to connect new media to and makes it completely painless and quick.

I don't mess with DPX except if you need to share with VFX shots, in this case it is the standard.

Even then, frankly, I would still make the first method MPEG offline and just do DPX for people who need them, as appropriate.

7 - ACES uses an output module to target what is available that you will. So if for HD video, select you the ODT (output to a display Transform) to Rec 708. For the web, you could choose Rec 709 or a sRGB ODT.

8 - resolve can create quite a few outings, including video MPEG4 (although VERY high speed).

Will is not always the right tool, but it seems he got cevered to your needs, even the Lite version free.

  • Reduce solar glare in a complex situation

I have difficulties in reducing solar glare on a tree (bad camera). Here is the part of the image, I'm working on. Which method to use?

    1.png

Usually I approach these things with the burning tool and target specific channels if the glare has a color bias...

Some useful tips: work in 16-bit/channel mode and lower the exposure tool, put away and works very slowly and subtly stroking with soft brushes until you reduce glare slot the level of distraction.

  • Changing the time of end of viewfinder exposure metering/AF

I want to set the default (which is now about 4 to 6 seconds) that the status line at the bottom of the viewfinder display lights up.  It is too small, and sometimes expired was can set it.  I would have thought that it was the timer from counting, but that has to do with the LiveView, rather than take normal pictures and does not change the duration of the time-out period

I have a Canon Professional Services level gold membership and so contacted CPS.  Blithely, I learned that the length is not adjustable and asked for it be made adjustable.  Rats.

  • I can zoom in on an audio waveform? The screen does not appear to have the zoom tool.

Post a screenshot of your question.

    A few suggestions;

Pull on the payhead in the Source monitor a few times back if you have any waveform.

If you want more wave, you need to add a few audio gain in the file in th PW.

Or on the side right there are cursors to take the larger waveform.

How it gets unchecked is not clear, but several users have had this happen since the release of version 5. It has ahppened me on at least two occasions.

  • Import 3D Lut

    Hello

I would like to import a LUT at will in the F55 to apply this LUT on my viewfinder, I created in 3D.

Where should I save it this lut (on the sd card) so that I can access the on-camera 3D Lut?

    THX

    Olivier

    Private / Sony / Pro / camera / PMWF55_F5

    Save 3D LUT, make sure camera is in Sgamut 3 / Slog3 or Sgamut3.Cine / SLog3

Can load via the file menu and then access it from the MLUT key then highlight User3D LUT and scroll until the registered LUT is in 1-4 position.

  • generate the output waveform on 6259

    Hello

I would like to generate signals of "simple" digital square output 3 6259 NI Board of Directors of 80 Hz.

Because of the wiring of my test tool driven 6259 Board, I can't use the output of the meter, but I need to plug into 3 output lines.

I re-used an existing vi and made by a subcontractor, but the generated waveform on my DUT does not have the expected frequencies (although it seems OK on the generated graph). Indeed, there are some forms of square waves, but not continuously. A sort of "pomade" and "elected" frequency does not match the measured frequency. If someone has an idea to help me, I have not experience on labview yet!

    Thank you!

You have 4 unique digital States aimed at bike.  Each cycle produces 1 full period of each of your square waves.  If you want the output to 80 Hz, you must set the sample to run 4 * 80 = 320 Hz clock.

The other thing you see on the scope is that there are short bursts of pulses with parent long time between bursts.  The calendar during the bursts are what control tasks.  The time between bursts is caused by using the button "run continuously.  Also that according to them, you complete vi almost immediately rather than waiting until they run awhile.  Put an end to the execution of vi initiates self-cleaning of LabVIEW.  These things represent the time brief burst and the ISH between bursts.

  • RFGS waveform data files

    Hello:

I have developed a system that uses NI SMU box with generator PXI-5652 and SMU-5450. There is a set of data files that should be provided to 5450 (those write you to niRFSG_WriteArbWaveformComplexI16). However, accurate information about what exactly is in those files is a party.

Y at - it a tool that allows to understand the exact waveform that is stored in these data (other than their loading and using oscilloscope) files? Also, is there a tool that can be used to generate the data files which agrees to NEITHER-RFGEN?

    Thank you

    -Ilya.

    Hello, Ilya,

I don't think that I understand correctly you.

The niRFSG_WriteArbWaveformComplexI16 will have complex entries for example x + yj to data entry and who write on I and Q channels of the 5450. Data file do you mean you want to parse through a file and get your complex values that you will write in the RFSG?

    Thank you

    Hello.

I need to print a serial number using the zebra TLP 2844 printer. I am connected by USB, as I don't have serial port and parallel port.

I could print my serial number using the tools of Zebra printer (see the screen shot for more details) with the controls of the EPL:

  • Filter for waveform data

    Hello world

I'm trying to filter the noisy analog inputs of 10 channels (DC). I'm sampling of 100 samples/channel at 1000 Hz. My idea is to filter the data with a low pass filter (cut to 10 Hz 3rd order butterworth low freq) and then to calculate the average of each package of 100 samples. Finally, I would like to receive values at a rate of 10 Hz, which can be displayed on the front panel and be written in a file of measures.

    My problem is the following:

The Express filter VI does not filter continuously after that the VI began. It seems to reset each time the loop runs. The table of 100 samples (white) before and after (red), the filter appear in the image "filterResponse". If I take the average of this table, it is of course less without the filter due to the transitory values between 0 and 0.025 s. I built a simplified version of my VI with only one channel using the VI "Simulate signal" and my concept seems to work well which is permanently (see "filterMeanExample.vi"). I get the idea that it might have to with the kind of dynamic data that is supported by many express VI. But since I'm on the VI KEITHLEY, I do not use the type of dynamic data. In fact, I had to convert a waveform data type to get a vehicle appropriate for the file of the measurement of its release.

I wonder how to keep the filter VI of reset each time that the loop runs.

My VI is rather large and contains the KEITHLEY 'Acquire signals' VI which most people do not have in their libraries, so I decided to show only the images.

    Thanks for your help!

    Phil

    System: WinXP, LabVIEW 8.2.1 Professional

Thanks for the tips, I am set!

I used the VI of butterworth filter in the tool box to filter on the Panel of the Signal processing that accepts the type of table data. I put the variable ' init/cont' true to prevent the filter to reset its initial States to 0. I guess, it was my real problem before. The Express filter VI doesn't have this option, so I wasn't aware of this feature.

However, an image of the current value is attached.

    Thanks again,

    Phil

  • With the help of slides as a Waveform Editor. Need to change slides, and I can't do what I want.

I am creating a waveform synchronization tool using Labview.  The user needs to see the multiple waveforms and their calendar.  Then, this will create an output file to configure the chip.

I have this right now, and it works, just not very elegant.  (It is attachment that says "no graphics").

I would prefer something like that, but I need to change the background image and the size of the slider programmatically.  (This is the other attachment).

    Is this possible?

    Brett,

It's more what you are looking for? I have just an idea to overlap your cursors with Digita waveform graph.
