Virtual IP address for group in Oracle fail safe

Hello
I can't understand this, and when I want to create a group in Oracle fail safe Manager that I do not know what address or host name may be given as virtual IP for group and host name.
On the Windows Cluster Administrator can I find the correct address to give? Where?

Thank you very much.

You're on Windows (linux/unix)

I think that what follows is just, but I'm open to correction...

You need get the ip address assigned by your network administrator.

You will have freedom of choice of the name associated with the address, but it is more likely to clustername.domain.vip, service - name.vip.

Your network administrator that will put in its local directory naming service, dns for example.

You should not attribute this to an interface yourself but let clusterware like that. You cannot understand this line, but indeed, it is important that your network administrator does not bind the ip address of an interface network itself but clusterware is used to. You must place this information in the clusterware.

(I haven't worked with failsafe but worked with the RAC and the process will be similarities. "I'm wlcome to another poster to replace me).

    Hi all

    I'm doing some tests on a Windows 2008 (64-bit) R2 two-node failover Cluster.

I installed and configured successfully bone and the Failover Cluster feature.

I surfed around but I can't find anything to solve the problem.

I think something about the language of the (Italian) OS and Oracle NLS settings (AMERICAN. AMERICA), but obviolsly I'm not sure about this.

Thanks in advance for any suggestion,

  • Oracle fail safe

    Hello
1-to install Oracle fail safe on a win 2003 server module, should install us MSCS (Microsoft cluster server) first?
2-If yes how to install MSCS (Microsoft cluster server)?

    Thank you.

Yes, you will need MSCS before you install Oracle Fail Safe Software. You can see the following guides to better understand:

  • A node CCR vrs Oracle Fail Safe

What is the difference between a node CCR and infallible Oracle?

In my opinion, BECAUSE a node seems to be essentially the same model of cluster active / passive as FailSafe (some talk cold failover by a CCR node). Failsafe is specific to the Windows environment (as in integrates with Microsoft Cluster Services).

Made a CCR node, work the same way as CARS that he can sit on top of any cluster solution (Oracle Clusterware or any other party 3rd clustering solution)? If yes then I think that RAC one node on top of Microdoft Cluster Server actually gives the same as Fail Safe!

Of course, it is possible that sit in the canoe RAC one node on top of Microsoft Cluster Services?

    Any thoughts?

    Jimbo wrote:
Seems to make sense. To ask the obvious question that I think I know the answer to.

If you have for Instance A & B on server 1 (in a 3-node cluster), with a CCR node node could you if the Server Node 1 fails, move Instance A 2 node server and Instance B 3 node server (or both must evolve to the same node as they set out sharing a knot?)

With a single node of CCR, you MUST have only a single Instance Active once. (during the failover (emotive) you will see in short time two target/destination one instance in each node to perform live migration).

Where the instance will run: this depends on your ServerPool.
If you serverpool have set up (for example, node1, node2, node3) the instance can move on another node, or you can specify the node in this serverpool

With a node CCR bodies "floating around" inside the Serverpool. (that is to say that they are not exclusive of a node, but it is exclusive to serverpool)

Set the number of servers or instances that are preferred for the application. Oracle Clusterware allocates resources up to the specified number as long as they are physically available automatically and move a resource to another node if necessary.

No, you are allowed to use it if you have an oracle database.
Oracle Fail Safe is not an Oracle database option, but it is a plugin that feature included with every Oracle 11 g and 10g Oracle for Windows 2003 R2 and Windows 2008 license.

  • Upgrade a database 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4 in a module fail safe cluster

    Hello

I need to upgrade oracle 10.2.0.1 (base) at 10.4.0.4 in a fail-safe cluster.

    Issues related to the:

    1. If I upgrade each node as a single server, cluster ¿fail-safe can work with 2 nodes in different versions? (for example a week for restoration)

    2. I read how to upgrade a cluster Fail-Safe metalink document. Please, can someone tell me the best shape (or logic) to 10.2.0.1 in 10.2.0.4 in this cluster?

    for example:

    1. backup database
    2. turn to level the node 1 to 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4 (following metalink document)
    3. test data and applications
    4. a week later the same node 2 (only if she is eventually run oracle in different versions in failsafe, install the 2 node after node 1 works fine)

It s my first environment failsafe and I m not sure how to do it.

  • How to change the local IP on the virtual NETWORK adapter for Web server address

    Hi all

I have a physical Windows system, on which I run VMware Workstation 9. Now on VMware I run Ubuntu 12.10 a LAMP for a Web server.
    Problem:
Now, my local IP address for my NETWORK card virtual (using the Ubuntu one) at the address 192.168.159.7 and my router only emits the 10.0.0.x range IP addresses. So if I want to port forward to the virtual NETWORK adapter that has a 192.168 address, I can't, so my LAMP Web server are not accessible to the outside because the router does not send packets on port 80 to the virtual card... How to fix this?
The only way I guess that is to be assigned an ip address of 10.0.0.x to the virtual NETWORK adapter?
But how do I do this?
I tried to do it on the host from the Windows machine with "get my IP address automatically", but she emits an 192.168 address every time...
    Thank you

    Welcome to the community,

I guess that the virtual computer is currently configured to "NAT" or "Host-Only' networking! That would explain the 192.168.x.x IP address.

There are 2 options to be able to access the web server on the virtual computer.

    1. with "NAT" network configured

In this case forward port 80 to the IP address of the host and configure the port forwarding on the virtual computer in the "Virtual Network Editor. This way you can leave the IP address on the private network of 192 (if it is currently set to NAT)

    2. use "Bridged" network layout

Reconfigure the virtual NETWORK adapter to the machine virtual networking "Bridged" within the parameters of the virtual machine, assign an IP address from your router network (10.x.x.x) and do the port forwarding on the router directly to the IP address of the virtual machine.

  • Server of VMotion of mailbox Exchange causing interruptions in service of the virtual IP address and Cluster name?

    Hi people,

Is this expected behavior with VMware, when you do VMotion for mailbox Exchange Server 2007 SP1 of the JRC in the case of DR, he stopped the production node?

Because during the VMotion virtual IP address and NOMCLUSTER does not not in the massive blackout of ping, which causes in the box the production mailbox.

the solution was to turn off instance after the VMotion DR do fail over to the node of production again.

No explanation for this incident would be great.

The problem with your Exchange databases failover to the other node in the cluster during vMotion is due to heart rate is lost between the nodes during the migration.  This is the same problem that appears in Exchange 2010, when you perform a vMotion and there are solutions documented (of Microsoft) to get around that.

Before discussing make these solutions work with Exchange 2007 and Windows Server 2008, I looked up the political support of Microsoft for Exchange 2007 and virtualization.  Short version - vMotion is not supported in Exchange 2007.  See below:

Microsoft supports continuous replication Exchange cluster (CCR) and single copy clusters (SCC) in environments of hardware virtualization, provided that the virtualization environment does not not based on hypervisor clustering or migration solutions (for example, Hyper-V migration fast or ESX from VMware vMotion) that are configured automatically failover or move servers from mailboxes that are run as hosts between root servers.

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc794548 (EXCHG.80) .aspx

This description sounds a bit like a mix between vMotion and vSphere HA to be honest, but it is directly from Microsoft for Exchange 2007 support page.

For me, if Exchange is a critical application, then that's the end of the story and I wouldn't try to use vMotion.  I switch on services between the nodes in the CCR cluster and stop the passive node when I needed to perform the ESX host maintenance, etc..

If you want to test at least to see if you can get vMotion to work, you can adjust the cluster heartbeat timeout settings in Windows to leave more time for the vMotion to complete before the cluster fails over to the passive node.  Instructions for how to do this are in the blog post following (bearing in mind that, although the blog is specially for Exchange 2010, the controls are Windows commands that should also work with Exchange 2007):

    http://www.thelowercasew.com/vSphere-and-Exchange-Admins-can-live-in-harmony-Microsoft-finally-supports-HA-and-VMotion

So in short - you can probably do vMotion works correctly by changing cluster heartbeat timeout values, but it is probably not worth since the configuration is not supported anyway.  If you want to adjust the values of pulsation of cluster you test this in a development environment before making the change in production.

One last bit - if your organization has a Microsoft Premier support agreement, then Microsoft will probably support the configuration even if the documentation says that it is not supported.  Check if your organization has this level of an agreement of support and if so, check with your Microsoft representative as vMotion for Exchange 2007 configuration is supported.  Make sure you explicitly Exchange 2007 because we know that it is supported for Exchange 2010.

  • Unable to see the option of ip address for esx3.5 by Vi client settings

I have two esx 3.5 boxes in a cluster and the two esx are in place and works well with hosting some virtual machines from each... and I'm able to power on all virtual machines and run.

an ESX is fine and no probs with it.

recently, there was some issue with the esx with its Ip settings... I provided a static Ip to the ESX and then I lost connection with this esx... I connected to tht ESX with ILO and del vswif0 and all vswitches and created a new and affect the service console port group DHCP ip address.

I followed these steps to d that:

    xcfg-vswitch - a & lt; vswitch name & gt;

esxcfg-vswitch - L & lt; binding name rising NIC & gt; & lt; name of vswitch

    esxcfg-vswitch - a & lt; PortGroup name & gt;. vSwitch

    esxcfg-vswif - a vswif0 Pei & lt; PortGroup name & gt;. i DHCP

And now I'm able to connect the ESX Vi client... but when I go to the configuration tab, then to the networks... Properties and modification of service console... am able to see only two options uder general tab... its label of network and Vlan ID... There should be option for Ip settings is sttic and dynamic... Obtain ip automaticallya nd provide static ip... am able to see it all in my box first ESX... but not in this second one.

    Hello

To reset the vswif there is no need to recreate all virtual switches. However, I don't like dynamic addresses for ESX. Eitherway, you should be able to do things always work out.

Regarding the differences, it could be in the way in which you created the vswif more than anything.  You should still be able to switch from no DHCP if DHCP using DHCP, you will see all the information you want without going through the console. IP must always appear on the home screen however, does it?

  • Failure to address for each country mission

    Hi all
Is it possible to set default back to the address for each country in Oracle 12.1.3 or it is possible for a single country? For example-, we have defined Spain as countries default and whenever autoinvoice or other features met in another country (Italy, United States and Russia) to map to the Spain? I checked metalink and found some docs only for failed mission to the address of a country.

    Thanks in advance,
    Bahchevanov.

While you create ' receipt of ' country, 'Default' in the code of the country.
