Virtual machines removed by Vsphere Client always in stock VSphereWebClient

Hello together,

When I tried on a new system (host 2, 1 iSCII-SAN, Vmware Essentials 5.5) somethings with new virtual machines

and after I created one, it worked but we have seen, wrong operating system.

We therefore decided to stop this machine and delete the San.

This work we don with VSphere Client and evrything seems OK.

This morning we started the first time that our VSpherWebClient and we still see this machine in the inventory list.

We couldn t do something remove our something else, because in WebClient, there is no editable function

and in the VSpehre customer isn´t of the current machine.

Someone has an idea?

concerning

Hi Tim,.

Thanks for all communications, it was useful for me.

Now, I did the solution my way:

I use the unit of Service VCenter and (after duplicate the original files in a folder on the data store)

I started the default configuration wizard.

After the process, I realized all the network settings are correct

and all the things that now works correct.

But it was only for my situation with a Datacenter without existing VMs and a lot of information in the

inventory.

I m is not sure this solution: a virtual machine on the data store a safe way for VCENTER Server.

Maybe for Cluster HA or DSR it wise, but I think it's very important to have backups from the

settings and inventory.

Anyway, our system is running, and now that we can begin to move our VM´s.

best regards and thank you

Rolf

Now, when I configure NPT Client/Server on virtual machines through the Configuration Option under Option Configuration time

So why NPT Server featured when enabled via Vsphere Client works very well, but it does not work when it is configured manually

I was connected to a vCenter Server Appliance through the VSphere Client and enabled the synchronization of time of the NPT.

I really need to know how to configure the NTP server without using the Vsphere Client so that I can automate the

  • Get-Event for virtual machines removed

Im trying to get a list of VMS created during the last 5 days and also a list of virtual machines removed in the last 5 days for a script of daily problems that I receive by email.

For the moment, I do something similar for VMS created and following for the deleted VM:

    Get-VIEvent -maxsamples 10000 -Start (Get-Date).AddDays(-5) | where {$_.fullFormattedMessage -match "Removed*"} | Select createdTime, userName, fullFormattedMessage

But unfortunately, it gives me other elements such as ' deleted not configured data store clones "etc etc.

Is it possible to get precisely the events that refer to a virtual machine being deleted or I will have to do things with regex to search for "VMNAME deleted on HOSTNAME of the data CENTER' cool

    Thank you

    Alan Renouf

    http://Virtu-al.NET

You can use the event type for the Where-Object.

    Something like that

    Get-VIEvent -maxsamples 10000 -Start (Get-Date).AddDays(-5) | where {$_.Gettype().Name -eq "VmRemovedEvent"}

  • Who is looking at my virtual machine using the VSphere Console at the same time?

    People,

I would like to know if it is possible to know what VI Client / vSphere console user currently displays the Vmware console at the same time for a particular virtual machine I'm working on?
Because right now, someone else is my VM console access and may have forgotten to close the VI Client and now I'm stuck.

This is the error that I got when I try to connect to the console. Internal error MKS due to the 'RemoteDisplay.maxConnections with a value of 1"is in force.

    Thank you

    Hello, AlbertWT-

Well, it seems that there is another way.  You can get the number of current connections of MKS (mouse keyboard screen) for the given virtual machine and uses this value to your Select statement.  Which must correspond with the users with current MKS connections to this virtual machine.

So, what to put with what hosted proposed and you changed, it would be like:
$strVMName = "myVM"## get VM; will use an ExtensionData value from this later$vm = Get-VM -Name $strVMName## get the events that are for console connects, sort, and then select the first X items, based on the number of current MKS connectionsGet-VIEvent $vm | ? {$_.FullFormattedMessage -like "Remote console Connected*"} | Sort CreatedTime -Descending | Select UserName, CreatedTime -First $vm.ExtensionData.Summary.Runtime.NumMksConnections | ft -AutoSize

And, a variation on the last line, the one who checks the type of the VIEvent (vs do a string comparison):
    ## same, but check the event type instead of a string compare on the FullFormattedMessage (just to not rely on string compares)Get-VIEvent $vm | ? {$_ -is [VMware.Vim.VmRemoteConsoleConnectedEvent]} | Sort CreatedTime -Descending | Select UserName, CreatedTime -First $vm.ExtensionData.Summary.Runtime.NumMksConnections | ft -AutoSize

The two should work, but the second version removes the dependency on the string comparison.  For example, if the FullFormattedMessage changes in the future implementations of vSphere, things should still work (However, this would be still vulnerable to break if VMware changed the name of the type of the event).  A bit of a preference thing.

    How does do for you?

Note: by sorting on Createduserid, this process assumes that the current console connections have been made in the order.  In other words, if someone has been connected to the console of the virtual machine since yesterday and connect / disconnect / reconnect, _you_ will be the last two events Connect.

  • How to start a Virtual Appliance of in vSphere Client

Have the vSphere client connected to the server VCenter, with two hosts.

Everything works fine - VMs can be created, moved, everything.

I would like to make a new virtual machine from a Virtual Appliance.

I have already downloaded (Ubuntu 10.4 Server VA) and uncompressed it.

All the files are there ready to use, on the same computer that is running the vSphere Client.

Don't know how to use the AV.  I can start going in VMware Player, but it's not my goal.

You want to set up/start them in vSphere Client, and then migrate the GOES from one host to another.

    Thank you.

Since the files listed, it looks like a picture of work/drive station. What you can do is to use VMware vCenter Converter Standalone to convert the virtual machine to your ESXi host.

  • Comments of the virtual machine removes the packages using e1000 Mode VST adapter

We discovered a recent issue in our datacenter where our virtual machine guests will fall packages when using frames on the map virtual e1000 on a vSwitch configured for VST mode.  The guest operating system is Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 update 6.

Ignored packets occur when the MTU has 9000 on the Linux OS.  The vSwitch is configured correctly for extended frames and we tested 2 virtual machines on the same hardware (and same VM network) as well as two different servers ESXi to verify this.

Our wireshark caputures revealed that the last 4 bytes of the payload of the packet are deleted.  An example is the package of sending on a single server was 8142 bytes and package receiver 8138 bytes.  Because of the difference, the TCP checksum fails and the packet is ignored.  Somewhere by the transfer of the 802. 1 q header is missing on one end and on the other, less the last 4 bytes at the end of the frame.

So far, our only workaround is to set the MTU 1500 on the Linux OS or use with MTU 9000 VMXNET3 adapter.  We use PXE to boot our virtual machines, that's why we chose to use the e1000 rather than the VMXNET3 adapter adapter (although RHEL 6 supports PXE with the new adapter, that's how good news in the future!)

    Hello

You cannot use e1000 with frames jmbo it as design of esx, only enhanced vmxnet (and vmxnet3) adapters are supported of extended frames. Cards other than enhanced vmxnet (and vmxnet3) adapters, for example the adapter E1000, unusable with frames. Attempts to change the MTU seems to succeed but the adapter always deletes more than 1500 byte frames.

  • Keep a backup of virtual machine removed at POS

    Hello

I want to make a backup of virtual machine (vdp 6.1) and then delete vm in the cluster. I need a backup for future possible restoration.

Is it OK to do this? POS will keep the backup?

    Hello

You can go to POS, select the backup of the virtual machine and put it in the menu. This may block the normal expiry date and the backup will be deleted from POS.

  • Several virtual machines are running, but are not in stock

    Hi all

I hope that someone has experienced this condition and can help.

    Here's what I have.

I have 13 VMs (Windows-based) I did some tests with the help of EMC RP DR. All servers in a group to ensure consistency with the two LUNs. I was able to failover of the environment on the site of copy and then restore to the original location.

However, today when I didn't return the case I lost 4 virtual machines.

-J' have 9 virtual machines I see in vCenter Server

-The virtual machines that I've "lost" are running, and I can connect using RDP, but they do not appear in vCenter Server

-Virtual machines are in their records in their data warehouses. When I find the appropriate folder and try to add to the inventory, the option is grayed out. Which suggests that the VM is saved, but when I search I do not see the instance.

PowerCLI command revealed that the two Mas I have 9 powered on virtual machines. Like I said all 13 virtual machines are running.

I asked each his vmInventory.xml of the host in the cluster file servers registered on all hosts are 9 instead of 13.

I have not disassembled the DS during operations of RecoverPoint failover, power off just the virtual machines.

Fortunately, this environment is not in full production, but which is the right thing.

Someone at - he encountered this rather odd situation.

If relevant, Bay storage is EMC VNX and access is any block.

    Kind regards

    no problem you are welcome!

  • Definition of levels of booking for a virtual machine

    The vcloud usage meter says:

NET points = (vGB hours X points per 1 GB reserved RAM) / hours per month

A month calendar of 30 days, a service provider uses the vCloud package provider services - first Edition to configure its virtual machine with 16 vGB for 15 days and 48 vGB 15 days remaining. The level of booking for the virtual machine is set to 75 percent for the whole month.

    15 days x 24 hours x 16 vGB x 0.75 = 4 320 hours of vGB

    15 days x 24 hours x 24 vGB (vGB 48 x 0.75 but capped at 24 GB) = 8 640 hours of vGB

Total number of hours of vGB = 12 960 hours of vGB

    Total points = 12 960 vGB hours ÷ 720 hours / month x 7 points (for Prime Minister) = 126 points

Where "the level of booking' for a virtual machine?  Is - this talk on VM bookings each parameter in vCenter Server, or do something to the extent of consumption vCloud himself?

Hello. The reservation level is set for each virtual machine, using a vSphere Client or API.

  • Gwetting a list of all virtual machines and used space

I apologize for my very basic question.

I need to make a file (better if an Excel file) with a list of all virtual machines in a simple 5.x vSphere infrastructure including 2 VMare ESXi 5.x servers and the disk space used (allocated, used) of each virtual computer.

The easiest way seems to list the virtual machines from the vSphere client and export the list as a .xls file.

It seems simple, but when I look at the file I see a lot of missing VMs or a large number of missing values for several virtual machines (just the Runts).

Is this a problem with my vSphere client?

I tried to create a PowerCli script using the "Get - VM|" Select-object Name"command, but my limited skills will let me extract the value of the used space.»

Can someone please provide a sample of PowerCli I can just copy and use?

Is there another way to get the information I need?

    Concerning

    Marius

    .

Not knowing that if you have configured a cluster or just stand-alone hosts, here is one simple line...

    Get-VMHost-name | get - vm | select name, usedspaceGB

From there, you can make formatting, get total usage etc.

  • HA admission control - power on a virtual machine with no available slots?

    Hello world

Is it possible this admission control would allow a machine virtual can be powered on when there is no available slots?  I don't speak HA initiate a failover, but manually power on a virtual machine of the vSphere client...

My current settings of the laboratory are:

    -vCSA 5.5

    -5 x test VMs

-3 guests x ESXi 5.5 with 2 processors and 4 GB of RAM each.

-Admission control policy = host failures tolerates the cluster = 1

-Fixed CPU slot size = 2000 MHZ (yes I know it is huge, but I am doing this to force a slot by ESX host since resources 'hidden' PR of each host ESXi brings only 3800 MHZ)

-Then, the slot machines, 2 3 total used, 1 failover, with 2 under voltage VM.

It is my understanding that once you run out of slots, admission control should leave you not MANUALLY power on the new virtual machines. I could do something wrong, but in my case, I am able to power on the other 2 VMS with 0 slots available. I enclose some screenshots for reference.

    Could I be missing?

    Thanks in advance.

So this should be no possible and looks like a bug to me. Please file a support call and post the number SR here so that we can have genius watch.

  • Several virtual machines being locked

Using View 4 here and every day when I come in, there is at least one user who cannot access their VM, 'the source of funds attributed is not available... ". ».

Our display configuration is currently just a standalone ESX 4 box that manages these clients to view. We have other clients to view a cluster and we have not seen this issue, but the customers on the cluster are not used as often as the autonomous zone.

So, again, it is the classic question of "virtual machine is locked.

Here's what I've done so far:

1 open the virtual machine in the vSphere client: "cannot connect to the mks: vmx connection contact has failed."

    2 vmware-cmd - s unregister

-tired saving in vSphere once again, without love, the same error...

12 gave up, restarted the ESX box, fixedit!

-another machine but now is to show the same problems... Sigh...

    Any help/advice would be great...

You don't mention this patch you enjoy, but it sounds like the question that we knew before loading the latest patches for ESX.

Make sure that you have patched your ESX servers for March 2010 cumulative hotfix:

Specifically KB1017465 corrects a problem with Dev Tap with PCoIP and resolution of changes that could the virtual machine to crash (http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1017465).

  • Database SQL vCenter that is running on the virtual machine within vsphere

Hey guys, I was wondering how many of you are running your database remote vcenter on a virtual machine inside your vsphere environment? We always ran the vcenter db on a physical remote outside the vsphere group box, but I am considering the upgrade to sql 2008 R2 and I already have a virtual sql server computer running within vsphere.

Pro/drawbacks to be aware of the db running on a virtual machine?

    Thanks in advance

    Kevin

We rotated our SQL database in a VM for a while now.

Some advantages are for example the wide use of HA and the ability to easily extend if necessary resources. In addition, if you use backup as Veeam software a restore takes only a few minutes from a physical configuration.

There are a few things when you have to keep in mind:

-Make sure that your SQL VM database begins before your vCenter (the service does not start if it cannot reach the database), even if it can be fixed manually it might be something you want to keep in mind

-If you use the distributed switches power risk since data is stored in the database, of course there are solutions for this (keep the traffic on a standard switch management)

-If you use HA make sure you modify the priority of restarting HA for the virtual machine (you don't want a reboot suddenly)

  • Failed to create new virtual machine

    Hi all

I have a 5.1 ESXi cluster and I try to install a new Windows Server 2012 R2 virtual machine.

The process always fails this question:

"A component of the virtual machine is not accessible on the host computer."

    I tried to:

    • Change datastore (VMFS 3 and 5)
    • Change Vfolder
    • Change the amount of RAM and the number of CPUS
    • I tried disk as Thin provisioned or felt configuration.
    • Check the health of these two hosts: seems OK

    Nothing changes

    Any suggestion?

    Thank you

Create and manage templates are based on vCenter server only and that's why you see not view 'Virtual Machines and templates' inventory... .and the VM files.

Instead, you will see all your virtual machines from home-> inventory directly under your host...

If I install a virtual machine in a host instead of using the Vcenter server, I don't see these files,

What it means? you have successfully created VM via vSphere client connected to the host?

So my question is: when the virtual machine is installed, and I reconnect using Vcenter where did I see this virtual machine? I guess that I'm not in the folders 'models and virtual computers '.

You will see that it is not executed in the title of the last folder in the folder list or in the folder named "Discovered virtual machine"... until you insert it to some... by vCenter
