Failed to create new virtual machine

Hi all

I have a 5.1 ESXi cluster and I try to install a new Windows Server 2012 R2 virtual machine.

The process always fails this question:

"A component of the virtual machine is not accessible on the host computer."

I tried to:

  • Change datastore (VMFS 3 and 5)
  • Change Vfolder
  • Change the amount of RAM and the number of CPUS
  • I tried disk as Thin provisioned or felt configuration.
  • Check the health of these two hosts: seems OK

Nothing changes

Any suggestion?

Thank you

Create and manage templates are based on vCenter server only and that's why you see not view 'Virtual Machines and templates' inventory... .and the VM files.

Instead, you will see all your virtual machines from home-> inventory directly under your host...

If I install a virtual machine in a host instead of using the Vcenter server, I don't see these files,

What it means? you have successfully created VM via vSphere client connected to the host?

So my question is: when the virtual machine is installed, and I reconnect using Vcenter where did I see this virtual machine? I guess that I'm not in the folders 'models and virtual computers '.

You will see that it is not executed in the title of the last folder in the folder list or in the folder named "Discovered virtual machine"... until you insert it to some... by vCenter

    I don't know what is your experience with this database, but from what I've seen performance problems of database in the virtual machines are usually caused by bad disk i/o. CPU or memory must not be the problem in a virtual machine.

  • Create new virtual machine of the model that have two hard drives in the different data store

    We do VM deploy automation with PowerCLI.

    There is already a model created with at least two hard drives to one side and each hard drive belong to difference datastore,

    In the model's operating system is Windows server 2008 R2 already installed VMware Tools and other software in the second (other than C: driver) driver

    We can successfully deploy a new virtual machine with this manually with vSphere client model.

    But when we try to make the deployment with PowerCLI, can not find examples of similar scripts in the document of reference,

    and we also google this question, still no similar question was found.

    Is this possible with PowerCLI? If it's possible could you give me some advice or an example of script, thank you!

    Best regards.

    I already found the solution.

    With the vSphere SDK .NET API, we can create the new virtual machine to the model

    Mainly used API listed below, sorry because I can not give the source code here.

    I installed VMware ESXi 3.5 and that you have created a virtual machine to Windows Server 2003. I would like to use this virtual machine as a model to create other virtual machines. How to create a new virtual machine from a virtual machine existing? What is the best practice? Thank you.

    stop the virtual machine in question, and "the clone to a template.  You can then deploy oversized.  Make sure you have all of the sysprep files that are located in the right place.

    You wan to watch this .pdf, even if a small wedge, it might be useful

  • Virtual PC - create new virtual machine snap into button appears not

    I installed virtual PC and having the image in XP mode works on Win 7 64 bit on a Dell Optiplex 990 i5 processor.  However when I choose the Manager of Windows Virtual PC and the Windows Explorer window opens, I see not the option create a virtual machine, just 'burn' where it should be.

    I tried to activate windows 7 aero UI think the classic look of windows blocked somehow but that has no effect.

    I tried to reinstall the configuration of virtual machine directly on the site but it gives me the message that there is not suitable for use.  I tried uninstalled and re - install, but get the same when the Explorer window is missing the snap.

    How can I get the snap in option seem to create a virtual drive?  The window appears with the title of Virtual Machines.

    Once again, the image in XP mode work properly and starts and stops without any problem.

  • VMware Fusion 6 Professional - where is the possibility of locking VMware using a single virtual machine and do not allow the creation of new virtual machines?

    This is a quote from the VMware Fusion Professional 6 product page:

    VMware Fusion 6 Professional comes with IT administration tools to help you deploy VMware Fusion using Apple or a management solution third Mac as of JAMF's Casper Suite. Further reduce the cost of support of Windows desktop using the mode of single virtual machine that limits user access to the library of the Virtual Machine, the ability to create virtual machines or migrate PCs and reduces the options of the menu.

    Where can I find these IT administration tools?  I want to block my VMware users to a single virtual machine so that they can not blow by creating new virtual machines, etc.

    How can I do this?

    Thank you!

    Glitch004,

    You could follow the steps to activate the single mode of VM:

    1. turn power off all running VMS and out the merger.

    2. Add the following line to/Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion / config

    installerDefaults.simplifiedUI = 'TRUE '.

    3 restart merger and you will find:

    . VM library is hide in the VM menu.

    . only one virtual machine can be used, while click second VM Fusion of the reports ' Unable to open document. "

  • Suggestion on Vcenter DB migration on the new virtual machine and enhancement vcenter server

    Hello

    I'm looking for any suggestion/plan with Vcenter DB migration steps towards the new virtual machine, and then upgrade the server vcenter

    4.1 for Update1/2

    My plan will be

    (1) creating new virtual machine.

    (2) fresh install 64-bit OS

    (3) migration Vcenter DB of the physical server to the new virtual machine.

    (4) upgrade to Vcenter Server 4.1 update 41 4.1 Update1/2

    Anything else missing then please let me know.

    Thank you

    vmguy

    Hi vmguy

    I agree with this approach

    (3) migration Vcenter DB of the physical server to the new virtual machine.

    As long as you leave the old DB in tact and simply detach and copy the DB to the new Victoria Cross.

    Before you run the upgrade on the new VC and DB.

    This way, you have a restoration plan in case something goes wrong with the upgrade.

    Just to add:

    You must migrate the ADAM database so to maintain the specified permissions vCenter

    See: Migrateing vCenter new host

    Please allow points if you find this useful/correct

  • Failed to create a new virtual machine

    Forgive me if I am posting this in the wrong place.  This seems to be the closest subject to my problem.

    I captured a physical process, which went rather smooth.  I moved the files in the data store and have created the virtual machine.  However, when I turn on the virtual machine, I get this message

    "

    Unable to create the virtual SCSI device for scsi0:0, ' / vmfs/volumes/5217833f-885a38b4-990th-001018ce2100/TFSVR. TwinForks/TFSVR. TwinForks.local.vmdk'

    Could not open scsi0:0 disc: disc not supported or not valid type 7.  Ensure that the disk has been imported.

    "

    -What this means and how can I solve this problem?

    You cannot convert the virtual machine to ESX without convert it directly to a vCenter/vSphere server.  At this point, you will need to take the external hard drive to connect to a server that is able to access the server from vSphere and rerun the converter with VMware workstation as a source and a server VMware (ESX) as destination.

  • VMware workstation, crashes when I try to create a new virtual machine

    Hello

    I never had this problem before, but I didn't create a new virtual machine in a very long time. Last time I created one was making Workstation 9 I think. Some time after the upgrade to Workstation 10 or 8.1 of Windows Update 1 it has started.

    In 10 Workstation running on Windows 8.1, I select the file > new Virtual Machine dialog coming upwards and in a few seconds crashes of VMware workstation and closes.

    So I checked the Windows event logs and find

    Warning "VMware Workstation to function properly, must be reinstalled after the upgrade to Windows."

    So, I upgraded from 10.0.2 to 10.0.3 and it uninstalled and reinstalled but I still get this warning.

    So I need help to track down what I am not sure what VMware paper to look to maybe see what is happening.

    Thank you

    Rainey

    Well, I found the problem.

    I looked in the UNK file and found a few ISO files wrongs tracks.

    I had mounted some ISO in the past and they have made the entry in this file of preferences such as "isoLocationMRUx".

    I'd change the leter this ISO file player so they could not be found as input, once I corrected the paths I can now create a new virtual machine.

    Yes, you must purchase a full license for the second installation of Windows 7 product key.  1 activation allows only one Windows 7 product key.  Apparently, you now have a second facility that requires a second product key. Carey Frisch

  • Upgrade to ESXi 5.0 to 5.1 - No Hardware 9 option available when creating a new virtual machine

    Greetings,

    I improved my esxi U1 5.0 to 5.1 and attempted to create a new virtual machine in hopes of using the new version of material 9.

    Using the standard and Custom options I been unable to create a Version 9 hardware VM by default.

    The only option I had was manually upgrade to version 9 once the virtual machine was created.

    Any thought or is - this as planned? I need to reinstall from scratch, my host?

    To create virtual machines with HW version 9, you can use the Web Client, rather than the windows based Client vSphere.

  • create a new virtual machine with the default settings?

    I was wondering if there was a way to create a new virtual machine with the default settings.

    For example, let's say I want all new Lion VM to have 2 CPU cores. Is there a way to set this automatically? There are other parameters I want a new machine to inherit automatically, I was wondering if there is an automatic way to do this, or is it a feature request...

    Thanks in advance

    Just for my clarification, when you say a vm model, basically I would execute a finder copy then drag back to the VM library, right?

    Yes.

    On the orders of spcirpting, it would be unix commands or are there specific vmware controls that make your job easier (in Applications/VMware\ Fusion/content or elsewhere)...

    IIRC, VMware Fusion 3 and later versions has an AppleScript dictionary, but it is not yet officially supported and may not be able to do what you want so, basically, only Unix Shell scripts, that's what I was referring to.  For an example, see my script attached to the following response: Re: vmware - script of the creation of the vm and the operating system installation process

  • How to specify the file of virtual hard disk when you create a new virtual machine using virtual hard disk on the data store?

    I'm new to PowerCLI and find quite simple, but in the documentation I read, I don't see how to use a virtual hard drive, existing on a data store when you create a new virtual machine.

    Is this simple registration on the virtual hard disk, or did I miss something?

    My current create VM is the following statement:

    New-VM

    -Name $TargetHostName -host $TargetVMCenterHost -data store $TargetVMCenterDatastore DiskMB - 20000 -MemoryMB $TargetHostMemoryMB -NumCPU $TargetHostCPUs -ID $TargetHostOS -CD -Description $TargetHostName

    Didn't notice this before, but I think that vSphere will use a backslash instead of a slash in the paths.

  • Create the new virtual machine using Java API vCloud

    Hi guys,.

    I am trying to create the new virtual machine in TIME, but I've stuck here. The API I'm using is vcloud-java-sdk - 1.0.jar.

    Could you please show me a code snippet how to do this?

    For now I do it like this:

    RecomposeVAppParamsType recomposeVAppParamsType = new RecomposeVAppParamsType();

    List the items < CompositionItemParamType > = recomposeVAppParamsType.getItem ();
    ReferenceType vappTemplateVMRef = new ReferenceType();

    // ??? seems that new reference to the new virtual machine should be here. But how to create this VM
    CompositionItemParamType compositionItemParamType = new CompositionItemParamType();
    compositionItemParamType.setSource (vappTemplateVMRef);

    Items.Add (compositionItemParamType);
    ReferenceType vAppRef is Vdc.getVdcByReference (vcloudClient, vdcRef) .getVappRefByName ("vApp_Websrv");.

    Vapp.getVappByReference (vcloudClient, vAppRef) .recomposeVapp (recomposeVAppParamsType);

    One day before I played with Web Services SDK, which is much easier to understand. I was able to create the vApp and VMs in vSphere. Is it possible to import machines virtual vSphere to vCloud? Should what API I use for this?

    Thank you

    Hello

    You cannot add a new empty virtual machine in a paralytic.

    Instead, you can add a virtual machine from an existing vapp, vapptemplate.

    To import a vsphere vm to vcloud.

    Import vsphere vm as VAPP in vcloud. VMWVimserver-> importVmAsVApp()

    The importation of vsphere vm, as vAppTemplate, in vcloud. VMWVimserver-> importVmAsVAppTemplate()

    See also the example of ImportVmAsvAppTemplate.java, which is part of the vcloudjavasdk group.

    Kind regards
