Virtual principal

Hi all

I wonder if I could install an additional kernel to replicate my deposit in a recovery site.

The kernel would be virtual? Is it supported? Do I need another license?

Thank you for your time!

Ed

Hello Ed,

The heart of target (the kernel receiving replication) can be a virtual machine.  You will apply the same license used on the core of the Source (sending the replicated data / take local backups) to this new target.  Just be aware that the new server, whether virtual or physical, must meet the specifications recommended in our release notes and a design guide.  These documents are found here: support.software.dell.com/.../release-notes-guides

Let us know if you have any other questions.

  • 'Lack of installation files' then install LabVIEW 2014 (Win7-64 on a VMWare system)

    Hello

I try to install LabVIEW 2014 on a VMWare Windows 7 - 64-bit environment, with no luck.

3-DVD installation media has been downloaded from NI.com, the release of August 2014 of the Site license academic (ASL), which my company is a regular subscriber, a very long time.

(Interestingly enough, this same virtual system has fonctionnee LV 2012 without any problem whatsoever)

Here are the steps I followed:

    -unzip the 3 iso files on separate directories on drive virtual, principal of this system;

-Run setup.exe on the first directory (IE one that contains 1 DVD files)

-Enter the serial number of the FSA

-l' Installer leaves just selected default English 2014 LabVIEW and the Manager of Package of VI, so I expand the ASL Core Software to add NIDAQmx 2014, and I also selects the device drivers OR - August 2014

-J' I accept different license agreements

-I select "I am not the end user" to postpone activation

Setup continues but almost immediately alerts telling me that it was impossible to install "NI Customer Experience Improvement Program", Yes , I want to keep and then I see a system dialog box display of files/paths that do not actually exist on the directory DVD 1, hence the obvious error 'lack the installation files"message. If I ignore this message, several other similar dialog boxes appear.

Either by the way, I've done various research, but, right now, apparently not a popular question at all.

    Any advice?

    Problem solved.

For some weird reason, WinRAR do NOT extract some files from the first archive .iso (but more importantly, she also didn't show absolutely no error message, leading me to believe everything was fine).

When any further inspection, I found about it and made extraction .iso process everything again and this time to the installation program completed without fault.

  • MD3000 cannot change virtual disk ownership / preffered path - ERROR 29

    Current configuration

PowerVault MD3000 (deleted by the moderator) - attached to two servers PowerEdge R610 using Dell SAS 5/e card in each r610. The R610s act as a host ESX VMWare ESXi 5.5.0

We have created multiple LUNS on the storage array and noticed that traffice all happening through a RAID controller or another module (and it seems to me not change without prompting when you look at the storage Bay). I turned off a two different virtual machines to try to change the path and had an error with a certain delay - I stuck this error below. I also tried to redistribute virtual disks tab the MDSM software nothing works support.

By reading, it seems that the LUN should be attributed to a particular raid controller before all I / 0, but I still feel like're missing us something as to why we cannot distribute the traffic properly.

According to some records for a MD3200 -.

    Hello MrRedPants,

Since you are using a configuration not redundant you will have problems trying to modify the paths between the controllers since the two hosts have only a single connection to the MD3000.  What you could do if possible is to get 2 more SAS cables & connect ports second on the MD to RAID opposite that the host is currently connected to.

Now, if this isn't an option so that you can make is to have 2 disk groups and assign the virtual disks / LUNS that are connected to each host in their own disk group.  If you go to each host their own groups of disks, then you will need to stop the e/s as you move the Ramdisk to the new group of disks so that you want to discard any data loss.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

  • Setting permissions on a virtual machine

We run a VM hosting service. I wrote scripts to create, delete, and update virtual machines. The problem I have is setting permissions on a virtual machine. We have groups Active Directory (AD) for the management of the permissions on the virtual machines. I am able to manually add these ad groups tab permissions on a virtual machine using the vCenter console, but I could not describe the process. We run 5.0 vCenter. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi B

Assuming that you do not have many ads with replication issues Sites / ore something latency... maybe this could be a problem:

In my script I user QAD Cmdlets... as I wrote this powershell script was without value 'default' - module

It might be the QAD Cmdlets to return the other default strings them from Microsoft.

I suggest you play with this line in order to get a response... I'm not able to test this now... excuse... :

    $perm.principal = $mrdgrp

    # Does 'primary' eventualy implies PrincipalName? Something like:

    $perm.principal = ' VMCA_group_name@C***. EDU'

    # Or second try...

    "$perm.principal = ' C * \VMCA_group_name.

  • Transfer of virtual machines for a backend of the DG

Environment: 11r2 RHE Linux 5.8 host, running on a VMware VM.

My VMware admins need to move the main VM1 to VM3 Oracle server. This primary has 2 data associated with guard rescue on 2 servers different VMs.

"In theory", there will be no problem spending the principal server a virtual computer to another (other systems, such as Windows, seem to have no downtime when this happens). "In theory" this transfer will take less than a minute (it does with Windows servers). I'm guessing that RHEL and Oracle may not be so forgiving.

One of you gurus out there have knowledge/experience about it? If so, is there a list of the steps I have to take beforehand? The traps to monitor?

Thanks for the reply. With the great terror in my heart, I did experience today in the name of SCIENCE.

The Oracle server of above-mentioned production (a guardian of primary data feed to 2 gap) and a separate Watch (whose primary is an Oracle instance of different production on another virtual machine), both have been migrated in an active State to a separate virtual computer.

Verdict: there no noticeable change in performance, without errors, etc.

  • How to add the AD security group in each virtual machine with a name corresponding in VCenter?

    Hi all

I would like to know if it is possible with VMware PowerCLI v4.1, I created the universal security group called 'Local administrators on %ComputerName%' for each server I have in UO computers by location OR separate and that he manually add members of the Local, but I want to attribute this security group in each computer virtual with the same name if possible.

    Basically, it's something like this:

In the ad, here are computer objects:
    DOMAIN.com/Computers/ mailserver1-VM
    DOMAIN.com/Computers/ DBServer1-VM
    DOMAIN.com/Computers/ ApplicationServer1-VM

In the ad's local security group objects:
    DOMAIN.com/SecureProductionOU/ 'Administrator locally on mailserver1-VM'
    DOMAIN.com/SecureProductionOU/ 'Local on DBServer1-VM administrator.
    DOMAIN.com/SecureProductionOU/ 'Local on ApplicationServer1-VM administrator.

So I want to affect these security group in each respective name of VMS in VCenter:

    VCenter01.domain.com
    Datacenter1
    HighPerformanceCluster1
    Mailserver1-VM - Local Administrator on mailserver1-VM - role: read-only
    DBServer1-VM - Local Administrator on DBServer1-VM - role: read-only
    ApplicationServer1-VM - Local Administrator on ApplicationServer1-VM - role: read-only

Any kind of aid and assistance would be appreciated grgeatly.

    Thank you.

    Hi Albert,

I don't know what you want to check exactly, so I give 2 possible solutions.

    (1) you have a fixed number of names known to virtual machines for which you want to add this permission.

    $targetVM = "MailServer1-VM","DBServer1-VM","ApplicationServer1-VM"

    Get-Cluster -Name HighPerformanceCluster1 | Get-VM | `    where {$targetVM -contains $_.Name} | %{    New-VIPermission -Entity $_ -Principal ("DOMAIN\Local Administrator on " + $_.Name) `       -Role (Get-VIRole -Name ReadOnly) -Confirm:$false   }

    (2) you want to check for each virtual computer if the security group exist and then add the authorization.

    Get-Cluster -Name HighPerformanceCluster1 | Get-VM | `    Where{Get-QADObject ("DOMAIN\Local Administrator on " + $_.Name) `        -DontUseDefaultIncludedProperties -WarningAction SilentlyContinue `        -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue -SizeLimit 1} | %{    New-VIPermission -Entity $_ -Principal ("DOMAIN\Local Administrator on " + $_.Name) `        -Role (Get-VIRole -Name ReadOnly) -Confirm:$false}

Note that this requires the Quest AD snap-in must be installed. If you have a version without the Quest AD snap let me know.

  • CLI can be used to assign AD accounts to virtual machines

Hi, I am interested in the possibility to use the CLI to assign accounts Active Directory for VMs. currently there are 10 virtual machines created from a template and there are 22:00. 1 AD account is assigned to each of the virtual machines. They are used for training purposes. Virtual machines are then removed and repeat the procedure. Is it possible that I can attribute the AD account name to a particular virtual machine using the command line?

    Thank you

You can use the new-vipermission to assign permissions to a virtual machine.

    new-vipermission -entity (get-vm SQL04) -principal "Mishchenko\dave.mishchenko" -Role "Admin"

  • What App would you recommend to run virtual machines on an Imac?

I would try to have virtual machines running on my IMac, but I'm having a hard time finding any material on this topic from apple.

Ideally, I would like to my main x os to start and then simply turn a small virtual machines or containers from OSX.

    VirtualBox

The first two are commercial products. The third is a free, open source. Three Parallels is the best.
